I just logged onto iChat for the first time using my Apple ID. The name on My AppleID and my computer and everything is correct. However, when I pull up I chat, it has a completely different first name. I can't figure out for the life of me how to change it.

Since downloading the new OS Lion10, my screen display continues to change resolution (+4x) without any prompt, changing to a new app is the only way to go to the original resolution… Is there a setting that needs to be changed to stop this from happening

My iChat refuses to open. Every time I click on it to open it it will not open at all and a window will come up saying "The application iChat quit unexpectedly". How can i get my iChat to open and is someone or something hacking into my computer?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was using my MBP when I noticed that the display (the built in one) looked a little washed out. To make sure my color profile was set to the correct one, I opened up the display panel in System Preferences. The moment I opened it, the display snapped back to its regular appearance. As far as I can tell, it goes into the washed out version after going to screensaver and coming back, and going into display prefs is the only way to restore it. Anyone seen this before or know how to keep it from doing this?

I was away from my computer for a day and when I returned I had an IM from a Screen Name that has been harassing me for a couple of months. They keep trying to video chat me or IM me, but I never answer. When I returned to my computer this morning, there was an IM that I opened and was finally going to say something to the person, but when I opened it, there was a couple of messages saying that they have downloaded all of my information and passwords and files. I am going to attach a photo so you can see. It looks a little fishy. I called Apple and they have never seen it. There are no articles about anything like it on google. The persons SN is bolded which is odd since usually when iChat tells you if someone has signed off or on, the SN is not in bold. Also iChat never gives warning messages like these. I feel like it is some script for iChat that someone started using. If not and someone has in fact hacked my system, which I don't believe someone can do through iChat, can someone let me know what to do. Also if they hacked my system some other way, I don't see why iChat would warn me about it and not something else in the computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is due to the MobileMe services being turned off, but I can't get logged into iChat. I haven't tried it for a few days before today though. It keeps my status off line and when I click on the symbol to the left of the status, the error is, "iChat lost the connection to the Mac.com account [URL]. A network error occurred."Â
I tried my mac.me account, too - still no go. I am using 10.7.4 (Lion) on a Mid 2010 Mac Pro. Nothing has changed (software or hardware) since I used iChat last other than the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 3.14 back on the 28th. Looking up the error in these forums (and other forums on the Internet), I see a lot for AIM, but they are from months prior and are not applicable. I did try restarting iChat, restarting the computer, and restarting my modem and router (although Internet access was working fine, just not iChat). I checked all the settings in iChat preferences and they look good - Server: api.oscar.aol.com, Port: 443 w/SSL.Â

my screen died so i had to get the 27 led and have the atlona converter between the display and mac ( which works fine)Â I logged into my main user and then into user2 my main user's display resolution is set to 2560 and user2 was set to 1920 i opened preferences and switched resolution in user2 to 2560 the screen flashed a bit and logged me out. then it would not log back in (it actually logged me out of the main user too)Â
what happens is that it starts to log in, there were a few finder windows open so, it starts to open those. but it doesn't show any icons or the text with available disk space... there's a beach ball for 30 seconds or so then it just logs back out.Â
it's totally user specific because i can log in and use my main user fine. i can even log in to another user account that i never really used.Â
I tried logging in in safe mode and get the same results. I can log in in with terminal with that user and see it's files, etc... I even tried using command line to move some prefs out out (i put them back after it didn't work).Â
I imagine some file related to the finder is corrupted or something? one of the prefs i tried to move was com.apple.finder.plist as well as bunch of others like windowserver desktop displays, etc...Â
I am a new Mac user, just switched from PC. Problem is that I connected my mini thru its HDMI out with a HDMI cable to my 47in Phillips LCD in its HDMI in. Everything is working fine but because I sit on my bed and use it. I find it to be too small, if I change resolution then I guess I will be losing out on the 1080p and also will need to connect thru VGA not HDMI. Is there any way I can make things look bigger so I can read the txt and everything from far away. Also I am not using a keyboard (only a mouse) so don't think I can zoom. But still I don't want to zoom all the time. Is there any permanent solution.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a standard Macbook. I bought a mini DVI-VGA adapter so I could connect my Sony LCD Multi Function Display and my Macbook together. The connection works fine, but I am having a serious problem with the display. The monitor shows the wallpaper of my macbook but does not show anything I open. So for example, the wall paper is there, but if I open Safari, it doesn't reflect this on the monitor. Only when I try to change the display preferences on my macbook does something show up on the monitor.

I am trying to use external display with my Unibody Aluminium Macbook Pro (NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, 2.26Gh, snow leopard). Cable setting I use is quite complicated as it is: macbook: minidisplay port>hdmi> DVI D : display. Display is LG Flatron W2242T (4:3).So I hooked everything up and macbook detected display without any problem. The problem arises when it comes to resolution. Maximum resolution I can set (and in fact the only except 800xsomething) is 1152x870 and not only it is to low, but also it does not respect 4:3 ratio so it looks quite bad. So bad, that i cant really work on a setup like that. When I try to change resolution to any other, Display goes black. I tried using some apps, but they dont really work.

I just got the latest 13" Macbook Air and hooked it up to my Apple 24 inch LED Cinema Display. It works great but I've noticed that the resolution is not the same as when I had my 2008 Unibody Macbook attached to it. Everything is bigger (i.e. lower resolution) when the MBA is connected. I went into Display Preferences and changed it to the highest resolution but it didn't change. It's not that big a deal, but I thought I'd ask and see if anyone had any suggestions on how to get better resolution on the cinema display. Or is it not possible with the new MBA connected?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust noticed while browsing through the Apple Store that the "Mac" tab no longer contains a separate reference to the conventional Cinema Display, but only to the LED Cinema Display. While the subsequent page contains a link to the conventional line, could this reflect a consolidation of all Cinema Displays to the LED variety is coming sooner than later?
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust bought the 24 LED Cinema Display to use with my new uMBP. The display looks great, but sometimes it's pretty tough to read things on it because the resolution is so high. Is there any way to change the font size for things like Safari, Entourage, Word, etc. JUST on the LED and not on the MBP as well?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some peculiar reason, my desktop pictures do NOT change / rotate on my secondary display.
I have a MacBook Pro 15" (Late 2007) running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and I have dual displays. My primary display (the MBP screen) DOES change / rotate picture every minute, but I want my secondary display to do the same.
It seems that restarting does fix it, but only temporarily. I think it might have to do with plugging/unplugging the secondary display and sometimes if it's working, I disconnect and reconnect the monitor and then the pictures stop rotating.
All my desktop picture settings are correct in System Preferences. I tried unchecking then rechecking the "Change picture:" checkmark, but that doesn't fix anything.
I also tried clicking on different folders in the left column of the Pref Pane, then clicking back on my chosen desktop pictures folder.
I have a 17" MBP, latest model, with the "upgraded" hd matt display. However, I am curious as to whether I could get the glossy screen back by simply replacing the bezel with a black bezel and glossy screen cover as can be found on eBay - eg
[URL]Is the hd upgrade simply the same screen but without the glossy covering and black bezel - or is it in fact a different screen altogether?
