I just got the brand new 15" MBP with high res screen, and it is paired with the 24" cinema display.
First thing I noticed is the colors are way off between the two monitors and it is very annoying....I have tried calibrating both with no results, they just have way different profiles to be able to match them.

As the title says, I need a new monitor for my old G5 as the old monitor for it went bust. Apple does not make the old displays that came with the unit anymore and the only available monitor is the new LED ones ? but they all come with mini display ports

I have purchased a macbook pro and have been using illustrator and Photoshop to design posters. I then purchased a Epson artisan 1430 printer. And the colours are way off. The screen colors are lovely and vibrant and the print colors are much more dull. I have been told I need to calibrate my macbook to the printer settings?

I have a question about using dual displays with my new macbook. The basic issue is this:
1: plug in second display and setup dual monitor support to use the external hi-res display and the macbook's display (no problem here).
2: drag windows to the external display and resize to use (no problems here either).
3. Power down and disconnect the external display.
4. Start up the macbook without the external display and try and open up a program that I was using previously on the external display. The problem is that it is resized and positioned for the external display and is now off the screen of my macbook display and I can't directly get to the title bar to move it or the resize corner to resize it.

I was using my MBP when I noticed that the display (the built in one) looked a little washed out. To make sure my color profile was set to the correct one, I opened up the display panel in System Preferences. The moment I opened it, the display snapped back to its regular appearance. As far as I can tell, it goes into the washed out version after going to screensaver and coming back, and going into display prefs is the only way to restore it. Anyone seen this before or know how to keep it from doing this?

I have a new 17" macbook pro (glossy screen) and 24" Apple LED Cinema Display, and I'm trying to calibrate each monitor. I'm currently running the Monaco Optix XR and can create some very good looking profiles, each to his own. But, I can not get the monitors close enough in color temperature when they are side by side. The 24" is slightly warmer than the macbook pro display.
I was considering picking up a Pantone Huey pro since my calibrator is so old, but I've been reading about a lot of problems with those on 10.6.
Has anyone had any luck calibrating these two new monitors with identical (or as close as humanly possible) color and temperature?

I had a bad power surge (USB hub that was plugged into the back of the display had the wrong power cord plugged in... very stupid mistake I know!!) take out my 23" Cinema Display. The display shows no sign of life (no power light, etc) and the brick has been tested and is OK. My local service place says that they will have to send the display back to Apple which means a minimum of $400 for repair so I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar issue that they resolved successfully? The service place suggested that Apple would replace the logic board but is there any way to test to see if this is the main issue? I have seen logic boards sold separately online but would be hesitant to buy it without know that this would fix this issue.

My wife's macbook monitor is destroyed due to happy 2 year old. It won't be worthwhile to replace the monitor and it is not fixable without some expensive work being done on it, therefore I would like to use our TV as an external monitor and retire the macbook to being a mediia computer. I have connected it to the TV, and I see an empty desktop, as far as I can determine it looks like it is treating the TV as a secondary display - that the desktop is extended onto - so I cannot actually interact with the normal desktop. When I try to run things using keyboard shortcuts I hear some sounds of things starting, but I don't see anything on the TV.  So what I need to do is to have some way to tell it to treat the secondary display as the primary display. i have an mac pro intel 2x2.66 OS: 10.4.11
my screen died so i had to get the 27 led and have the atlona converter between the display and mac ( which works fine)Â I logged into my main user and then into user2 my main user's display resolution is set to 2560 and user2 was set to 1920 i opened preferences and switched resolution in user2 to 2560 the screen flashed a bit and logged me out. then it would not log back in (it actually logged me out of the main user too)Â
what happens is that it starts to log in, there were a few finder windows open so, it starts to open those. but it doesn't show any icons or the text with available disk space... there's a beach ball for 30 seconds or so then it just logs back out.Â
it's totally user specific because i can log in and use my main user fine. i can even log in to another user account that i never really used.Â
I tried logging in in safe mode and get the same results. I can log in in with terminal with that user and see it's files, etc... I even tried using command line to move some prefs out out (i put them back after it didn't work).Â
I imagine some file related to the finder is corrupted or something? one of the prefs i tried to move was com.apple.finder.plist as well as bunch of others like windowserver desktop displays, etc...Â

I need to share my monitor with another (linux PC) computer; I bought a TrendNet KVM box which allows me to share one monitor between two computers. however, the KVM switching box only allows for VGA connections, so the first step was connecting my Mac via the VGA (rather than the DVI) video port. However, even before I can test the KVM box - I noticed that instantly, the resolution on the G5 Mac quadrupled, everything is enormous!
does anyone know what the factory resolution is? I will probably try just changing things - but I remember once in the OS 7-8 days, I changed the resolution willy-nilly on my PowerPC and the screen went blank - I couldn't fix it because I had screwed up the resolution and it couldn't show anything - it was a disaster because I couldn't even see anything to fix it... so I would appreciate knowing what the original default resolution is on the G5 so I can change it back, hopefully without fear...

Desperate to replace my now too old G5 power Mac, I decided to order a new 27in i mac. I was cheerfully informed by the assistant in my local mac shop that I would have to wait six weeks or so and he would put me on a waiting list. I felt this was unreasonable and thought I had found a clever plan to get something better. So I bought a new 24in display, attached it to my newish laptop and away we went. After a short while I found the whole experience a little lumpywith six connections every time I wanted to take the laptop home. I bought a used power Mac instead, an intel duel 2.66 power mac. I have found out today that according to Apple that there is no connection to be made from the mac to the display, I am gutted and fed up. The display has a bunch of cables coming out, only one choice, mini DV1. The computer has DVI. No adapter is available apparently. Anyone have any suggestions apart from spending nearly ?300 on a Radeon 4870

My monitor is a:
Apple Studio Display 17 (ADC)
Display Connector: ADC
Apple Display Connector port
and it has that proprietary connection and does not require a power cord

I am on a Mac G4 and just installed 10.5.8. I the System Preferences I selected Display and changed the display from 60 hz to 24. Now I get no display. Is there a way to revert back, or access the terminal to change the monitor back so it displays? I know I could reload but that takes a couple of hours.

Basically when I start my computer, just like the title says, I hear the harddrive and fan power up, but I get no apple start up chime nor any kind of display (the screen remains black while the hard drive and fans continue to run). I've tried both a pram reset (option-command-r-p with power up) and tried booting it in safe mode (hold shift button down with power up).Â

I am a new Mac user, just switched from PC. Problem is that I connected my mini thru its HDMI out with a HDMI cable to my 47in Phillips LCD in its HDMI in. Everything is working fine but because I sit on my bed and use it. I find it to be too small, if I change resolution then I guess I will be losing out on the 1080p and also will need to connect thru VGA not HDMI. Is there any way I can make things look bigger so I can read the txt and everything from far away. Also I am not using a keyboard (only a mouse) so don't think I can zoom. But still I don't want to zoom all the time. Is there any permanent solution.

I have a standard Macbook. I bought a mini DVI-VGA adapter so I could connect my Sony LCD Multi Function Display and my Macbook together. The connection works fine, but I am having a serious problem with the display. The monitor shows the wallpaper of my macbook but does not show anything I open. So for example, the wall paper is there, but if I open Safari, it doesn't reflect this on the monitor. Only when I try to change the display preferences on my macbook does something show up on the monitor.
