just got a refurb. MacBookPro8,2, set up a new admin acct, then copied my files from a tiger powerbook to my user acct. gestures work on the admin acct, but not the user acct...probably some plist needs trashed, can someone clue me in on which?

would love to be able to use Firefox 3, but the finger gestures doesn't seem to work browser back and forward with 3 fingers.
am i missing something here?
My trackpad doens't seem to work when doing 3 or 4 fingered gestures. 2 finger scrolling works and so does clicking. It was working fine last night, even after I did a software update for the new Magic Mouse (which I don't have connected) I've checked system preferences and everything is ticked as it always has been for 3 and 4 finger gestures. I've repaired permissions and I've tried to reset the SCM, however I'm not sure if i've done it correctly.
All the Apple document says is to
hold down the 3 keys and press the power button once.
Then after 5 seconds turn the computer on.
I'm guessing after the 5 seconds i let go of all 3 buttons and then press the power button again to turn it on?
I tested with the security setting enabled that requires password when coming out of screen saver, and the gestures still work but all I get is a black screen when gesturing up, and a 'flash' and a black screen when gesturing down.

I've had this email account with AT&T for a few years and it has worked with Mac Mail with no difficulty for a few years. Recently the account has been able to receive messages. Every time I hit Get Mail it asks for a password. I have installed all the latest updates through Software Update. I have a Mac Mini with OS Lion. After struggling for awhile, my inbox eventually comes in. I have reset all the incoming and outgoing POP Server accounts, as well as used the Web-mail version through [URL] and it all works fine.

My Gmail and Cox accounts and won't work well with my Apple Mail, The mail won't download into my gmail account and I frequently am requested to put my IMAP password in, and it is then rejected.I go to mail preferences and put the password in the appropiate place and I am told the password is new and do I want to use it. Just spent several hours transferring my files using Migration Assistant from an older MacBook Pro (running 10.6.8) to a new one running Lion and find that all of my Microsoft Office files were converted to read-only. Also, get the following message when I edit and try to save PDF files: You don’t own the file 'xxxxx.pdf' and don’t have permission to write to it. A pain in the neck, but fixable. Three questions: What did I do wrong? Is there anyway to do a mass conversion from read-only to read/write?

Lion introduced several gigantic bugs when it comes to trackpad gestures. Go to System Preferences>Trackpad>More Gestures, and look at the options for "Swipe between pages":BUG
#1: If you choose "Scroll left or right with 2 fingers", this only works in Safari to go back/forward, but it no longer works in other apps like the Finder.
BUG #2: If you choose "Swipe with 2 or 3 fingers", you can use 3 fingers in all apps but not 2 fingers.
BUG #3: If you choose "Swipe with 2 or 3 fingers", you can go back a page in Safari using 3 fingers, but you don't get the animation of going back like you do when you use 2 fingers.
Apple needs to make all of these options consistent across the board, so that you can always use 2 or 3 fingers, and that it works in all apps, and that you always get the animations.Â

Having been able to use most of the multi-touch gestures yesterday, this morning only the single-finger tap, 2-finger tap and 3-finger double-tap are having any effect. Swiping left, right, up or down with 4 fingers has no effect (although 3-finger drag in Google maps is working, together with 2-finger scroll).

I bought this new MacBook Pro a month ago. When I try logging into my guest account, it froze. I had no other alternative but to get out of it by pressing the power button. Then I tried open a new user account to see if it also has the same problem. Unfortunately it did have the same problem - froze after I logged in. I had done a harddisk check, there seemed to be no problem.

I end up with an Admin account and there is no way to convert this account into a Standard account. Facts: 10.7.4 - clean install on a current iMac i5 Freshly created account uses name of a deleted older account (my name)Repaired permissions several times (disk utility and "resetpassword utility" via terminal and safe boot)The older account had been relocated to a external disc for security reasons. Working on a 2011 Macbook Pro with 10.7.3.I"ve setup many other macs with the same build and they all have created the mobile account when logging in for the first time, but this one will not allow the mobile account to get created.I'm connected to the line that gives me LAN access. I can log in with my own credencials and that works fine.I suspect it's the way the AD account is setup on the server but I'm not an admin for that. The same account sets up fine on a Windows box. Once I log in for the first time, it goes directly to the desktop. Basicly a local account but no user directory is created. With Fast User Switching turned on I see that it's showing someone elses name there, not the user that I logged in with. i.e. It should show 'joe jones' but it's showing 'fred smith'
Can't get screen grabs because there is no access. Can't show the FInder drives for the same reason, even if I go make the user an admin from a local admin account.I've seen some fixes in the forums but nothing works.
