Jun 8, 2012I have an old pre-Intel G5 Mac desktop and want to keep using Mobile me Mail and Entourage because they work so well and I have been using them for 10 years. I cannot get the mail system to work having moved everything else to iCloud. Followed the instructions but it just does not work and the mail.mac.com server will not accept my password. Any ideas?

Nov 23, 2008My safari icon was moved from my dock to my desktop. I am trying to move it back and not have the icon on my desktop. But everytime I drag it to the dock it leaves the icon on my desktop and puts one in the dock. I tried command drag but it didn't work and if I erase the icon on my desktop I loose the whole program. And my kids have an account for themselves and the safari icon is missing completely and they cant get on the internet at all using there account. Can I put the icon back in there account without deleting there account and starting a new one.

Jun 27, 2012One of an ongoing series of issues moving to Lion (whatta workout!). This one involves Mail and iCloud. Porting my MobilMe to iCloud has been problematic - I' ve been asked to do it three or four times, with each time being succesful when viewing through Safari. But now I've realized that the iCloud mail is not being picked up by Mail on my iMac (2009). I go to System Preferences to see if I can do something about it, but iCloud isn't there - just MobileMe.
So I click on MobileMe and (again) it asks me to move everything to iCloud. I do this and some error is generated (can't get it to replicate & don't recall what it was), and I can't sign in - it doesn't recognize my login, although I'm still currently in iCloud via Safari - clear as mud? Yikes. Bottom line: Mail can't get at iCloud mail to download, and sign-in seems broken. In 25 years on a Mac, I've never come across this level of Windows-like challenges.

I also have my website on MobileMe. Can I ask, what happens, as I got a warning to switch, as my MobileMe will end soon, if I can't have Lion on my computers?My 11 years of connection to MobileMe will all be lost?
I live in Greece and Mac prices are through the roof here. This is a forced upgrade tactic, I feel. Will there be no alternative to online mail for the lesser mortals without Lion?
Could I have an answer, and not get deleted again, as, as the email states, time is running out.

Mar 3, 2012Just installed Lion on my Early 2008 MacBook Pro. I am trying to setup iCloud Mail & Notes for the first time in the System Preferences. iCloud asks me to "Choose an email address." I already have a MobileMe address so I enter that. iCloud responds by saying that address is already taken. Of course it is, by ME! Whe won't it accept my email address?

Apr 11, 2012Since I updated to iCloud, (which may or may not be related) Mail on my MacBookPro 10.6.8 has been unable to connect to MobileMe more than once or twice per day. Mail on my iPhone 4 and my old iMac has no problems. When there is no service a yellow warning triangle appears adjacent to the Inbox and Connection Doctor reports,"Trying to log into this MobileMe IMAP account failed. Verify that username and password are correct." Since it does fetch Mail from time to time they cannot be wrong.... can they? Should I update to 10.7 and if so what does that entail?
