OS X V10.7 Lion :: Are There Hand Gestures To Operate With Windows
May 27, 2012
The hand gestures on the Macbook Air tracpad is awesome. As I am getting familar with the hand gestures on the trackpad, I was wondering if there are ways to control windows. Below are some of the things I like to know if there are hand gestures for it: Minimize current windowMaximize current windowClose current windowIn Safari, close current tabIn Safari, move from one tab to the next
These are what I can think of it right now. It would be so nice if there hand gestures on the trackpad.

I restarted my MBP to install some updates and when I started working on it again I noticed that the trackpad gestures had stopped responding. This has happened to me before but I have no idea why. I know that when I reboot it again, that they will start working again, but it's annoying to restart everytime the gestures stop working.

I'm currently running Win7 x64 on my Bootcamp partition. I'm wondering if there is any program/software that will allow me to utilize gestures, just like on the Mac OS side, for my Win7 partition? Basically, is there a BetterTouchTool program for Win7 on Bootcamp?

I have a boot camp Windows 7 installation that I also use with Parallels. When I have Windows running in Parallels, I can use my 3-finger gestures in Firefox to go forward and back, which is a feature I'm in love with. The problem is that when I boot directly into Windows I lose that feature, and it's really bugging me. Is there a program or even a firefox add-on that would fix this?

1. Lion's (10.7.3) user interface becomes nonresponsive/'freezes': trackpad cursor moves, keyboard can be used for typing, BUT gestures stop working and "Dock" is not responding (it is hidden automatically).
2. Tere are frequent "nfs server localhost:/5pBJvp-jULTJrbfF3Hpvc5: not responding nfs server localhost:/5pBJvp-jULTJrbfF3Hpvc5: is alive again" error messages in Terminal while I am running 'find' command.
These error messages seem to be correlated witth the user interface 'freezes'.

What are the little widgety things under our usernames to the left hand side of the message windows? Why are they labelled "Rule '1'" and similar? When did they appear? I'm sure they weren't there last time I logged in...

Lion introduced several gigantic bugs when it comes to trackpad gestures. Go to System Preferences>Trackpad>More Gestures, and look at the options for "Swipe between pages":BUG
#1: If you choose "Scroll left or right with 2 fingers", this only works in Safari to go back/forward, but it no longer works in other apps like the Finder.
BUG #2: If you choose "Swipe with 2 or 3 fingers", you can use 3 fingers in all apps but not 2 fingers.
BUG #3: If you choose "Swipe with 2 or 3 fingers", you can go back a page in Safari using 3 fingers, but you don't get the animation of going back like you do when you use 2 fingers.
Apple needs to make all of these options consistent across the board, so that you can always use 2 or 3 fingers, and that it works in all apps, and that you always get the animations.

Having been able to use most of the multi-touch gestures yesterday, this morning only the single-finger tap, 2-finger tap and 3-finger double-tap are having any effect. Swiping left, right, up or down with 4 fingers has no effect (although 3-finger drag in Google maps is working, together with 2-finger scroll).

I'm kinda curious as to how fast handbrake would operate on a 12 core Mac Pro? (let's say with 16-32GB RAM) Let's say a 24 minute episode at 640x480 2.5mbps off of a DVD, normally takes about 24 minutes on a 13" 2.4 C2D MBP with 8GB RAM. how fast will the 12 core MP process that? if one day I should have $10K to throw around, I want to go buy a top of the line MP just to have one... It costs the same as an International Business class air ticket, but the MP will last several years while the ticket is only good for a 30 hour experience.

When I look at Mgsafe 45W Charger for MacBook air description in the Apple Store,
It is written at the end :
"This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery. "

My grandparents broke their 24in Imac's monitor and it needs a replacement, costing around 800+ dollars. I was wondering if it was possible to operate it with a second monitor and have that one be the main computers display. Is it as simple as connecting the second display or do I have to disconnect the internal monitor? I'm not worried of opening up the computer, its not like I can damage the screen edit: The Imac is out of warranty and is a 2007 or 2008 model. 2.4GHZ C2D 4GB Ram. If you need any more info just let me know

This is a problem that's been bugging me now for a while: when I plug in my iPhone or even a measly Usb Flash drive into my Apple Keyboard's USB port, a message appears on my Mac's screen saying: "A USB device can't draw enough power to operate properly. If the device came with a power cord, plug it into an electrical outlet. Otherwise, connect the device to a USB port on your computer." Does anyone know why the Apple Keyboard has a weird indented USB connector?

Call me crazy but are we all assuming the Nehalem Mac Pros can operate in triple channel mode based on the memory configurations suggested by Apple? I can't find anywhere on Apple's site or in the user manual that spells out the ability to run in triple channel mode. I know the integrated memory controller can operate in dual or triple channel mode. Being dual only would explain the number of memory slots. Can any owners of the new Mac Pros confirm triple channel operation? Or has anyone seen it documented one way or another by Apple? I'd love to be wrong...

My first mac was a MB, and I just added a 27" iMac to my collection. However I'm addicted to the gestures on the MB trackpad.
Maybe this is a silly question, but my searching has failed to come up with an answer. Are there keyboard equivalents to the up/down/side swipe gestures? I get frustrated trying to get access to a clear desktop or list the open apps...the only equivalent I have is the F3 key.
