I tested with the security setting enabled that requires password when coming out of screen saver, and the gestures still work but all I get is a black screen when gesturing up, and a 'flash' and a black screen when gesturing down.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone knew how to change the 4 finger gestures built into OSX? I've looked around and found no way to override them. If nobody is knows directly how to accomplish this I'd also be interested in knowing what libraries the handlers may reside in so I can poke around and try and do it myself.
I'm also interested in trying to find a way to make 3 finger tap do a middle click. Or something along those lines.
All jokes aside, I read in Snow leopard (perhaps incorrectly) that two finger and four finger gestures on the trackpad can be used, is there any program on Leopard (10.5.8) that enables these? Specifically it would be great if I could go back in my internet browser by swiping with two fingers.

Just wondering if us old MBA owners will get the 4 finger gestures for application switching and expose?
View 4 Replies View Relatedno restarts, updates or changes) my 3 and 4 finger gestures stopped working. Google led me to this thread: [URL] Seems several people had this problem and there are two solutions posted in that thread. The one I tried first, and it worked, was to create a new user account and switch to it. The gestures worked fine in that account so I tried my original account again and all was good. I deleted the new account and things are still back to normal so far.
View 1 Replies View Relatedthe two finger click on my mac stopped working, and it acts as the "show expos"-four finger drag... Any ideas?
View 2 Replies View RelatedRemember, this only works for early 2008 MBP's [edit: and early 2008 MBA's]. These are the ones that already support "multi-touch" (three finger swipe, pinch zoom, rotate). Step 1 - Update to 10.5.6 Step 2 - Download and unzip the modified kext file attached to this post Step 3 - Delete the AppleUSBMultitouch.kext file in System/Library/Extensions (this should require the administrators password)Step 4 - Put the modified kext file you downloaded at Step 2 in System/Library/Extensions (this should also require the administrators password)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been loving every minute of my new 17" i7 MBP except for one thing. After waking my computer from sleep, the Firefox browser doesn't work correctly. I can see the window, with all my tabs, but nothing is clickable except for the menus at the top. I have to restart the browser in order to get it to work. It's not the biggest pain in the arse, but I'd like to pop open the computer and start browsing instantly. Any thought as to what may be causing this or what I can do to fix it?

View 21 Replies View RelatedI've been away from my iMac for several months but I remember while checking this site or another one about some software to be able to use finger gestures with the magic mouse. I'm guessing it was similar to how I use on my MBP laptop. Can someone point me to this software?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI finally upgraded to Snow Leopard (clean install, then restored backup via migration assistant), and wanted to make use of the three and four finger gestures on the trackpad. However, in my system preferences - trackpad - there is no option for further gestures or similar. My macbook is fairly old (mid-2007), is the trackpad not equipped for that?

i'm having this minor but annoying problem with Firefox. every now any then when I move my mouse over the volume button while I'm watching a Youtube video in order to get the volume bar to pop up, nothing happens. if i click repeatedly on the button and go crazy it will pop up, but it will not let me slide the volume bar up and down. i don't remember having this problem with Safari. it's sort of like the browser isn't recognizing my mouse cursor hovering over the volume area in order for it to trigger the bar to pop up, if that makes any sense.

and is there a thing like firefox mouse gestures for Safari? i like the idea of just clicking my mouse en swipe to the left to get to the previous page, really missing this on Safari.
My trackpad doens't seem to work when doing 3 or 4 fingered gestures. 2 finger scrolling works and so does clicking. It was working fine last night, even after I did a software update for the new Magic Mouse (which I don't have connected) I've checked system preferences and everything is ticked as it always has been for 3 and 4 finger gestures. I've repaired permissions and I've tried to reset the SCM, however I'm not sure if i've done it correctly.
All the Apple document says is to
hold down the 3 keys and press the power button once.
Then after 5 seconds turn the computer on.
I'm guessing after the 5 seconds i let go of all 3 buttons and then press the power button again to turn it on?
I just went to the mozilla site and left some feedback for firefox requesting the 3 finger swipe gesture to be implemented, like in safari. Although, my single request probably wont do much, maybe others have and I'm contributing. Anyway, i thought i should post the link here, and anyone that could be bothered could fill it out as well.. the more people we get to send it, the more likely they developers will implement it
View 24 Replies View RelatedI use Firefox, and I do a 3 finger swipe upwards, it will go to the top of the page. And when I swipe downwards, it goes to the end of the page. I find this really useful. But when I switch to Safari, the same motion does nothing at all

just a problem that i hope is easily fixable! this has been happening for a while now but it's only just started to annoy me now that i've realised a whole website won't work with it (beatport.com)
basically when i two finger scroll with safari it works almost all the time, but when my mouse if on top if certain things, usually flash animations and the sort, it just doesn't work. embedded videos are normally the culprits, but like i said earlier a whole website that seems to be mostly flash based, beatport.com if you'd like to test yourself, just won't work at all unless i put my pointer right around the edge of the web page.
is this a known problem that i'm going to have to deal with? if not, does anyone know of a fix? i presume it's software based so hopefully an easy(ish) fix!
I have macbook pro And my mail has stopped working now. It worked fine a week ago . It doesn't check for new mails , even when I click on get new mail , there is no new mail. I have a MacBook Pro 17 ( two years old maybe) and just upgraded to Lion. I can do the pinching part of the new trackpad Lion coolness but not the scrolling. Which is annoying since the old scroll bars on windows are gone. I have them all selected to be ON in system prefs.Do these features not work on macs that aren't new with a builtin new magic pad?

I told myself not to do it. Don't update the Safari software to 4.0, you know how they always mess up these things. And yet, per accident I did. Of course Safari 4.0 doesn't work. Every time I open it, it shuts down. iChat also doesn't work anymore, and even the Dashboard shuts down every now and then. In addition, the computer feels incredibly slow. I can't download rapidshare links on iGetter anymore and everything just feels wrong. Countless threads have been opened on this matter with a variety of different problems for different people. Yet I have not read a proper solution. I have seen all kinds of technical solutions being offered but I'm not a computer wiz and I do not know the terms they use. I just want to go back to Safari 3.2 or at least the one before the 4.0 But I read that deleting Safari 4 and reinstalling 3.2 won't work because of a certain webkit that got installed with it, making it impossible to go back.
