OS X V10.7 Lion :: Multi-touch Gestures (trackpad) Stopped Working On Mac Mini 3,1

Mar 15, 2012

Having been able to use most of the multi-touch gestures yesterday, this morning only the single-finger tap, 2-finger tap and 3-finger double-tap are having any effect. Swiping left, right, up or down with 4 fingers has no effect (although 3-finger drag in Google maps is working, together with 2-finger scroll).

MacBook Pro :: Expanding On Multi Touch Trackpad Gestures?

May 23, 2010

I'm on my first Mac, a 15" 2010 MBP (2.4 Ghz), and I'm absolutely loving the multi-touch trackpad. It makes browsing things so much easier and even more pleasurable.

One thing that I just this second thought of is how to expand the gesture use more.

I'm in Mozilla now, and I moused up to the refresh button, and thought "what if I could refresh the page by just making a swirling gesture on the trackpad? That'd be pretty damn cool." This could also apply to the "stop" button by making an X gesture.

Hardware :: Magic Trackpad Allows Multi-touch Gestures On Desktop?

Jul 27, 2010

Apple has brought the multi-touch gestures available to MacBook users to the desktop with its new $69 Magic Trackpad, as well as a new battery charger for wireless devices like the Magic Trackpad, Apple keyboard, and Magic Mouse.Magic TrackpadThe Magic Trackpad offers Apple's patented multi-touch technology through a smooth glass and aluminum design. It enables users to scroll smoothly up and down a page with inertial scrolling, pinch to zoom in and out, rotate an image with fingertips and swipe three fingers to flip through a collection of Web pages or photos.

The Magic Trackpad can be configured to support single button or two button commands and supports tap-to-click as well as a physical click.Photos of Apple's Magic Trackpad first leaked earlier this summer, showing the multitouch desktop accessory before it was even announced. Earlier this month, the device received FCC approval, though at the time it was simply identified as a mysterious Bluetooth device.Apple first brought multi-touch functionality to its desktops last year with the Magic Mouse, a Bluetooth wireless mouse that allows users to use their fingers to scroll and zoom via the surface of the hardware. Every iMac and Mac Pro comes with the Magic Mouse, though users can now order the new Magic Trackpad for $69 as an option.

Apple Battery Charger Apple claims its new Battery Charger sets a new industry standard by having the lowest standby power usage value ? or "vampire draw" ? of any similar charger on the market. That's the energy most chargers continue to draw after their batteries are fully charged.Instead, the Apple Battery Charger senses when its batteries are done charging and automatically reduces the amount of power it needs. In addition, the reusable batteries that come with each Apple Battery Charger are designed to maintain a high charge capacity for hundreds of charges, so you no longer have to buy new batteries or toss them every few months. Each Apple Battery Charger comes with six AA NiMH batteries, intended to allow users to run their keyboard keyboard and mouse or trackpad, while allowing two more for spare charging.

"Unlike many other reusable batteries, these batteries have an incredibly long service life ? up to 10 years," Apple said. "Which means you can finally break the cycle of buying and disposing of those toxic, single-use alkaline batteries. The batteries that come with the Apple Battery Charger kit also have an extraordinarily low self-discharge rate. Even after a year of sitting in a drawer, they still retain 80 percent of their original charge. That way you always have backup power when you need it[URL]

MacBook Pro :: How To Disable Select Multi Touch Gestures

Oct 26, 2008

Since getting the new MBP, I've found that I accidentally do the pinch command in Safari ALL the time, which either increases or decreases the text size. This is incredibly annoying, and there doesn't seem to be a way to disable it in Trackpad System Preferences. Is there a workaround (Terminal or otherwise)? If it requires disabling all multi-touch functionality, I'm fine with it.

OS X :: MBP Function Keys And Multi Touch Not Working After Archive Install?

Jun 5, 2008

I've got a new 15" mbp that tonight I drove out with to the apple store. It was unable to mount external devices (iPods, external hd's, etc). The Genius ended up doing an archive install, saying that the mounting disks were running full throttle (making it EXTREMELY hot) but not succeeding; something in the OS had gotten stuck. So I left after he did an archive and install and tested my drive and iPod. Everything was working....I thought. Long drive back home. Open up my computer, try to adjust screen brightness...nothing. Try to adjust volume. Nothing. None of the function keys work. The eject button works, and strangely enough, the F12 button which should raise the volume also tries to eject. The pause button brings up the spaces window (showing all four spaces).

Very frustrated, could use some advice. Do I need to do an erase and install? These keys worked fine before the archive/install.

OS X :: Software Update Doesn't Show The Latest Multi-Touch Trackpad Update?

Jul 29, 2010

Yesterday Apple released Safari 5.0.1 and Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0, but Software Update on my Mac makes me able to download only the first one (Safari 5.0.1) - which I did. Why can't it find the Multi-Touch Trackpad Update?

- My MacBook is fine (it's 13-inch, Mid 2009).

- My OS is fine (Mac OS X v10.6.4).

Sure, I can download it manually, BUT it makes me really annoyed if something on my Mac works not as good as it should.

MacBook Pro :: 4 Finger Gestures Stopped Working In A System

Nov 20, 2009

no restarts, updates or changes) my 3 and 4 finger gestures stopped working. Google led me to this thread: [URL] Seems several people had this problem and there are two solutions posted in that thread. The one I tried first, and it worked, was to create a new user account and switch to it. The gestures worked fine in that account so I tried my original account again and all was good. I deleted the new account and things are still back to normal so far.

MacBook :: Trackpad Firmware Doesn't Update And Now Stopped Working (Lion & 13 Unibody Late 2008)

Jun 21, 2012

I bought an oldish MacBook 13' Unibody (late 2008) and when I got it one of the first things I did was to install Mac OSX Lion.

Everything was working fine, until I applied an update that made the trackpad stop working (it only accepts clicks, no touch is recognized).

This is the "Trackpad Firmware Update" from the automatic updates.

When starting this firmware update it appears a window with a status message, cancel and Update buttons. After clicking the update button, it starts installing, appears to complete, status changes to "Finishing...", and Update button comes back active at some point.

After that I have tried (unsuccessfully):downloading and installing the update directly from Apple Support [URL] thing, but using the 'root' accountleaving the computer on overnight to see if actually "finished" the processReset PRAM PVRAM - [URL] - [URL] palm pressing over 30 seconds on the trackpad (read this on another thread...?)

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Bugs With Trackpad Gestures?

May 17, 2012

Lion introduced several gigantic bugs when it comes to trackpad gestures. Go to System Preferences>Trackpad>More Gestures, and look at the options for "Swipe between pages":BUG

#1: If you choose "Scroll left or right with 2 fingers", this only works in Safari to go back/forward, but it no longer works in other apps like the Finder.

BUG #2: If you choose "Swipe with 2 or 3 fingers", you can use 3 fingers in all apps but not 2 fingers.

BUG #3: If you choose "Swipe with 2 or 3 fingers", you can go back a page in Safari using 3 fingers, but you don't get the animation of going back like you do when you use 2 fingers.

Apple needs to make all of these options consistent across the board, so that you can always use 2 or 3 fingers, and that it works in all apps, and that you always get the animations.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Why Doesn't Multi-touch Scrolling Work In Macbook Air

Jun 23, 2012

I just upgraded my (first edition) Macbook Air to Lion. Unfortunately, I've found that two-fingered scrolling does not work in Mail and Safari (and probably other apps as well). When I try to scroll with two fingers, the cursor won't move at all. Other two-fingered gestures, such as zoom and pinch, work fine. I checked the system preferences under both Trackpad and Keyboard and didn't see anything useful.
