Having been able to use most of the multi-touch gestures yesterday, this morning only the single-finger tap, 2-finger tap and 3-finger double-tap are having any effect. Swiping left, right, up or down with 4 fingers has no effect (although 3-finger drag in Google maps is working, together with 2-finger scroll).

The one I tried first, and it worked, was to create a new user account and switch to it. The gestures worked fine in that account so I tried my original account again and all was good. I deleted the new account and things are still back to normal so far.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought my Macbook in February 2008, right after the revision (system profile says Model Identifier: Macbook 4,1) and I have the 2 finger multitouch scroll, but I had been reading that SL would enable all of the multitouch gestures for Macbooks that already supported at least the 2 finger gesture. Did this end up being a rumor that was proven wrong, or did something go south in my install? I just did the upgrade, but had been thinking about wiping everything out and doing a clean install.

1. Lion's (10.7.3) user interface becomes nonresponsive/'freezes': trackpad cursor moves, keyboard can be used for typing, BUT gestures stop working and "Dock" is not responding (it is hidden automatically).
2. Tere are frequent "nfs server localhost:/5pBJvp-jULTJrbfF3Hpvc5: not responding nfs server localhost:/5pBJvp-jULTJrbfF3Hpvc5: is alive again" error messages in Terminal while I am running 'find' command.
These error messages seem to be correlated witth the user interface 'freezes'.

I�ve a weird problem with the trackpad of my brand new 13" MacBook:
there are three user accounts on it, let�s say "Admin", "User-1" and "User-2". While the multitouch option is working fine for the "Admin" and "User-1" accounts, it does not work in the "User-2" account, no matter which settings I try in the trackpad system preferences panel.
I�m pretty sure that this has something to do with the fact that the "User-2" account is the only one that was migrated (using the migration assistant) from my old G4 iBook. I reckon that this caused some incompatible system preferences to be installed somewhere in the depths of the "system" or "user/library" folders.
I recently upgraded to SL on my new unibody MBP and now 3 and 4 finger touch gestures won't work at all.

Also, every time I start iTunes, it gives some weird error about Adobe Flash player. I'm not at home now so I don't have the exact wording of the error with me, sorry...
Suddenly, gestures stopped working. I have no clue why. Rebooting seems to have cleared the problem, but could this be a signal of a deeper problem? hardware failure? softtware corruption..maybe a setting somehwere?

I have a 2 year old MacBook Pro and the superdrive has stopped working, it won't take discs in as if there is one already inside but iTunes or the dvd player doesn't recognise that there is a disc inside and if there is it can't be ejected, I have tried shutting down and restarting while holding down the trackpad, as recommended on some forums but that has done nothing. It might be a huge coincidence but the drive was working fine before I installed lion?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought an oldish MacBook 13' Unibody (late 2008) and when I got it one of the first things I did was to install Mac OSX Lion.
Everything was working fine, until I applied an update that made the trackpad stop working (it only accepts clicks, no touch is recognized).
This is the "Trackpad Firmware Update" from the automatic updates.
When starting this firmware update it appears a window with a status message, cancel and Update buttons. After clicking the update button, it starts installing, appears to complete, status changes to "Finishing...", and Update button comes back active at some point.
After that I have tried (unsuccessfully):downloading and installing the update directly from Apple Support [URL] thing, but using the 'root' accountleaving the computer on overnight to see if actually "finished" the processReset PRAM PVRAM - [URL] - [URL] palm pressing over 30 seconds on the trackpad (read this on another thread...?)

voice over has stopped working. If I go into system preferences, speech and ask it to play, it crashes and there is no sound for the installed voices. I've tried restarting, disc repair and disc permissions repair. If i go into voice-over utility everything works though. There are no announcements and it wont speak selected text. Recently I started noticing that the three-finger swipe no longer works in Safari, nor does the zooming option with trackpad. Scrolling and clicking/tapping still works tho.

I set up a few automated workflows with automator to take certain actions if different types of file are dropped into a folder (Downloaded etc)

Quick Look has stopped working for MP4 file types. If I rename to M4V, Quick Look shows previews and thumbnails in finder. I have run:
$ qlmanange -d 1 -t test.mp4
It reports:Content type UTI: public.mpeg-4. Generator used: None. If I tell it to use -c public.movie, it does show the preview. What do I need to do to get my Quick Look working again?

My Apple Remote recently stopped working with my iMac and I cant figgure out how to get it to work again. I've changed the batteries and I get a blinking light when I hold it up to the iSight camera. I am working with a friend who uses Microsoft Office 2011 on an iMac running 10.7.2. He is suddenly unable to print from Outlook. Choosing Print... from the File menu or clicking a print button produces no result at all - the normal print dialogue box does not appear. Previously he could print without a problem. He has no problem printing from Word in Office 2011.
We have updated Office to 14.1.4 through Microsoft Update. We have worked through the advice in the Microsoft support document 2409305 - backing up Outlook identities, and removing Oulook Preferences as advised there. The error remains. We then created a new identity and found we could print from that. So we followed the Microsoft advice to rebuild the Outlook identity database. We still cannot print from Outlook.
External speakers stopped working. Verified speakers operating with Iphone. Checked that speakers plugged in correctly. Tried usual power cycling step. External speakers do not show up in sound preferences.

View 2 Replies View Relatedhow to get Facetime working again in Lion 10.7.40. I installed some AJA LHi video card drivers and now my webcam/Facetime/Skype won't load. The programs either crashes during load or, in the case of Skype, when I try to select the webcam in Preferences. I have uninstalled the AJA drivers but it doesn't change anything. I can create another user on the same system and Facetime works fine. I've tried contact AJA support but have heard nothing back in the last 48 hours. One thing of interest is that PhotoBooth works fine with the Logitech webcam.

All of the microsoft programs (Skype, word, excel, update utility, even error reporting, all) I regularly run on my macbook pro have stopped working. If I try to open an application or document the icon bounces on the dock, the graphic flashes on the screen (just like normal), then the crash report comes up. The crash report stays for a moment then the crash report for the crash report (Microsoft Error Reporting has quit unexpectedly) pops up.
I feel like this started after the latest software update from a few days ago but I can't be entirely certain of that. I don't know how to revert previous to the update to check if that is the problem.

I have a 27" iMac and I'm using Samsung SyncMaster SA850 as a second monitor (connected via a display Port cable with a mini Display Port adapter). Everything worked fine until yesterday - the Samsung screen turned black and now it only works with max resolution 1280 x 1024 (native is 2440x1440). I think I upgraded Lion 10.7.2 to 10.7.3 (I don't remember for sure though). When I connect the monitor to an iMac with 10.7.2 everything works fine. And another iMac with 10.7.3 has the same problem as me.
