OS X V10.7 Lion :: Pinch To Zoom On Desktop Not Working?
Apr 25, 2012
With Snow Leopard and my MBP I was able to use the pinch to zoom on the trackpad to zoom in or out on my desktop icons. It doesn't seem to work anymore in Lion. Is there a way to enable it?Â
Suddenly, and spontaneously, pinch to zoom is not working in any area of Motion. I thought maybe I accidentally did some keyboard thing that disabled it, but System Preferences shows it's still enabled, and pinch to zoom is working normally in all other applications. It's just not working in Motion for some reason. I've restarted Motion and that didn't fix it. Also rebooted and surprisingly that also didn't fix it.Â
In a Finder window, if I'm looking for photos (for example) and I click on the thumbnail view, I cannot enlarge the thumbnails like I used to with the pinch gesture. Has this been disabled in Lion 10.7? Is there a way to allow it again? The 'Pinch to Zoom' gesture has been allowed in System preferences and it works with every application, just not in a Finder window.
I have noticed an issue with Safari's Pinch-To-Zoom feature. When I zoom in on a website containing specific types of buttons, the buttons appear to become full of question marks or something, instead of the button. As far as I can tell, the types of buttons that do this are ones like "Login" buttons, and others.Since I don't know how exaclty to word the description of the buttons, here are examples of them:

When I go here, and zoom in, the buttons by the search input are distorted. This is not specific to wikipedia, because it happens with other buttons like with the kind of glossy look in safari, that become looking like:when I zoom in.

i can not zoom in and zoom out in the finder's windows with the folders as in snow leopard i was able to make the folders bigger with the zoom pinch in and out but i was unable to do with it in mac lion
am using a Rev A MBA, and I just noticed that after the 10.5.6 update, I have lost the functionality of the pinch gesture when trying to enlarge/reduce icons ? both on the desktop and finder. Still works in all other areas like photos or webpages.
I want to re-arrange files on my desktop. When I use 'drag & drop' the file I moved just snaps back to its original location. How do I get 'drag & drop' to work properly?
I'm using Mac Mini with a Logitech keyboard with a built-in trackpad as HTPC. Therefore, I need a keyboard shortcut for zooming in and out in a browser (any browser). No pinch to zoom on Logitech. Ok, regularly, there is cmd plus / cmd minus to do this. On the english keyboard layout, these keys are next to each other and next to backspace. And it works. However, I am from the Czech republic and therefore using Czech layout. In it, minus is mapped as the first key left to the right shift. And it works for zoom out. BUT, the plus sign is mapped on the numeral 1 and hitting the cmd button alone changes it from plus to the number 1! So there is no way for me to hit the combination of keys cmd and plus.
I am trying to find a good quality webcam to use for videoconferencing with my Mac (MacBook Air actually). The camera is to be positioned on the 60-inch screen on the wall in our boardroom so the built-in Facetime camera doesn't do the job. It needs to have tilt/pan/zoom (in software). When I started on this search I had no idea such a thing was going to be so hard to find. There is no shortage of such products for Windows but I can't find a single one for the Mac.
There are a lot of webcams that claim to support Mac but on closer investigation not a single one of them (that I've found so far anyhow) provides any control features like tilt / pan / zoom - nor even brightness and contrast control for that matter. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places because it's hard to believe the Mac world really is lacking such products.
I just "upgraded" to Lion and have noticed some annoying quirks. I can no longer zoom in Movies on DVD Player and am stuck watching movies in widescreen. Is there any way to reinstall an older version of DVD Player? Are there any alternate programs to watch DVD's (not converted, full versions) which allow zoom?

I'm trying the new Safari and I love the support for the pinch gesture (coming to Firefox in the next version apparently). Anyhow, I find it difficult to control how quickly the page zooms. Is there any setting to slow the zoom down, i.e. make it less sensitive?
Is there a way to disable the pinch open and close feature on a MBP trackpad? I swear, its going to put me in therapy. Every time I need to scroll through massive spreadsheets for work, if my fingers separate by even a hair, the trackpad reads it as a pinch, then the document suddenly balloons to massive proportion or shrinks to infinitesimally tiny print. Seems there ought to be a simple way to turn the thing off, but for the life of me, I cant find it.
using a g5 intel running 0s 10.4.11 and my keyboard has stopped working ,it doesn't work while i am on the desktop , so using shortcut keys and changing file names etc.
Information: G5 mac pro, 15" macbook pro Mac OS X (10.4.8) dual monitors, sony 15" broadcast monitor, Sony HDR-FX1e
(Not sure whether this is software or hardware related)
I did a powerpoint presentation using my MBP (late 2008, OSX 10.6.2 updated yesterday) and a Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter. Afterwards, I unplugged the projector, then the adapter and closed the screen without looking.
When I opened the screen, surprise!: - desktop is empty: background image is visible, but all files & folders are gone - all running applications are still functioning properly - clicking on the desktop or dragging a file to the desktop does nothing - content of desktop is accessible through Finder - there are no other usernames in the HD>Users folder
I have not tried a reboot, because I heard of similar symptoms (without the mini DisplayPort) being related to username issues and people loosing all their data as a result.
take a look at the attached picture. Time machine only lets me go to the desktop and nowhere else. This hasn't always been that way and has started to do that recently. Is there a solution for this?
Loaded OS Lion on iMac yesterday and transferred mail from MobileMe to iCloud. Spent hours trying to get mail working on desktop but finally succeeded. Shutting down overnight caused mail to quit working again. However, if I go to iCloud website the mail works OK. I know others have had mail problems with Lion? I've tried just about everything from Apple support.
I've been using quite happily TightVNC on windows to connect my MP. Now I'm using MBP, so is there any decent VNC client for OsX where you can define zoom by % or slider. Preferably free or cheap. Apple's "Screen sharing" offers only scaling on or off, which are for me either too small or too big.
I was just wondering if there were different ways to zoom? I want to zoom in on my screen but I don't want to have the mouse being followed the whole time, someone told me Cmd + Scroll forward/back will work, but it doesn't for me. I'm on Leopard 10.5.6
