View 4 RepliesWith Snow Leopard and my MBP I was able to use the pinch to zoom on the trackpad to zoom in or out on my desktop icons. It doesn't seem to work anymore in Lion. Is there a way to enable it?Â

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Just upgraded to Lion recently.
Suddenly, and spontaneously, pinch to zoom is not working in any area of Motion. I thought maybe I accidentally did some keyboard thing that disabled it, but System Preferences shows it's still enabled, and pinch to zoom is working normally in all other applications. It's just not working in Motion for some reason. I've restarted Motion and that didn't fix it. Also rebooted and surprisingly that also didn't fix it.Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn a Finder window, if I'm looking for photos (for example) and I click on the thumbnail view, I cannot enlarge the thumbnails like I used to with the pinch gesture. Has this been disabled in Lion 10.7? Is there a way to allow it again? The 'Pinch to Zoom' gesture has been allowed in System preferences and it works with every application, just not in a Finder window.

I have noticed an issue with Safari's Pinch-To-Zoom feature. When I zoom in on a website containing specific types of buttons, the buttons appear to become full of question marks or something, instead of the button. As far as I can tell, the types of buttons that do this are ones like "Login" buttons, and others.Since I don't know how exaclty to word the description of the buttons, here are examples of them:
[url]...
When I go here, and zoom in, the buttons by the search input are distorted. This is not specific to wikipedia, because it happens with other buttons like with the kind of glossy look in safari, that become looking like:when I zoom in.

I just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. When I had the old Tiger software installed, I was able to zoom in and out on my screen by holding down the Control key while scrolling with my mouse.
But since I installed Leopard (not Snow Leopard, since I am using a G5 Tower PowerPC), this key combination no longer works.
This former screen zoom feature is important to me because I am a graphic designer with a neurological condition (tremors in my hands) that makes selecting fine points in graphic applications difficult unless I zoom in.
Note: using the normal graphics apps magnifying glass feature does not help me, because the select points still stay small, but using the old screen zoom method made the points larger and easier for me to select.
I tried setting a shortcut for "All Applications" -> "Zoom" so that I can have a keyboard shorcut for the green button/maximize button at the top (you can probably tell I just switched over from Windows). I set it to control+Z (^Z) and in FireFox when I look at the Window menu at the top I see "Zoom ^Z" like it should work, but it doesn't. When I click control+Z the Window menu at top sort of flashes/highlights real quick but the zoom function is not called. When I manually go to Window-->Zoom, it works.

I've been loving every minute of my new 17" i7 MBP except for one thing. After waking my computer from sleep, the Firefox browser doesn't work correctly. I can see the window, with all my tabs, but nothing is clickable except for the menus at the top. I have to restart the browser in order to get it to work. It's not the biggest pain in the arse, but I'd like to pop open the computer and start browsing instantly. Any thought as to what may be causing this or what I can do to fix it?
View 1 Replies View Relatedwould love to be able to use Firefox 3, but the finger gestures doesn't seem to work browser back and forward with 3 fingers.
am i missing something here?
i'm having this minor but annoying problem with Firefox. every now any then when I move my mouse over the volume button while I'm watching a Youtube video in order to get the volume bar to pop up, nothing happens. if i click repeatedly on the button and go crazy it will pop up, but it will not let me slide the volume bar up and down. i don't remember having this problem with Safari. it's sort of like the browser isn't recognizing my mouse cursor hovering over the volume area in order for it to trigger the bar to pop up, if that makes any sense.

Today Dashboard is not working.  I click on the Dashboard icon in the Dock.  The application does not respond. I click and hold the Dashboard icon in the Dock and get the balloon. I click on "Show Dashboard." Dashboard does not activate. I go into the Application folder on my hard drive and double-click the Dashboard icon. Still no action.Â
This problem started this morning, after I turned on the computer for the day. I have never had any trouble with Dashboard before.

I opened up AdiumX today and found that the connection to AIM through my @mac.com email account has a login issue. Now, when I opened Messages it stated that if you want to continue using .mac or .me address for AIM then you need to upgrade to 10.7.3.Now I am on Maverick, so I guess that is fine, but I still get the error through Adium.Â

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect to a small (10) local network of imacs all running Mavericks 10.9.3. I'm using Remote Desktop over Bonjour and also trying to share an iTunes library using Home sharing. None of the computers will respond. I get an error (-3170) on the target computers for the home sharing and RD tells me they're all sleeping when I can see perfectly well that they are awake and logged in. They all have RD client 3.7.1 installed but the response I get from RD when I try to wake them is 'this is not supported on these computers'.Â
This system worked wonderfully well under 10.6.8 and now it's completely screwed with Mavericks. as all the computers respond readily via the 'Go/connect to server/browse/connect method'. They are obviously all connected it's just this new OS just doesn't work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to get DVD Player to retain and use saved zoom settings for all disks. I have a Standard Def TV and don't like large bars at the top and bottom of the screen, so I use "Standard Display - Widescreen Mode" so I tried to Save the opreset and clicking the "Use for All Disks" check box. When I insert another disk, the zoom reverts to "Normal" (unzoomed) mode. I've tried deleting the DVD Player plist file, but that has no effect. I also tried unchecking the "Video Zoom" box under DVD Player Prefs (Previously viewed tab/Always use Disk settings), but that doesn't let the preset be used for all disks. Basically, the Save Preset option seems useless unless you view the same disk again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a bluetooth remote presenter. It has the usual keys (next, previous, volume, play/pause, start default music player) and it also has a small touchpad / trackpad with left and right buttons, scrolling buttons.Â
The remote is great and it served me well under Windows and OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. Now since I bought a new machine with Maverics, I can't pair it. The bluetooth utility looks different on Mavericks. Certain things missing, such as making Bluetooth discoverable or not in the way of simplification of things or oversimplification of things, where there seems to be no access to Bluetooth device details and no way to add device without pairing code.Â
The remote is recognized as mouse with keyboard, which makes things worse, there is not only no code on the device, even if there is one (or if it would except 0000, 0000000, or similar), I have no way to enter it.Â
Unfortunately Maverics made things simple but useless for some bluetooth devices. It's unnecessary.Â
Seems like I will be stuck with Snow Leopard on one of my machines forever.Â
When I look in console on SL, here is what I see:Â
2014-06-28 8:23:11.268 AM System Preferences[7658]: [establishKernelConnection] Received an error from IOServiceOpen() - 0x10000003. NULLing out io_service_t.Â
There is an entry like this every time I try to pair.Â
The Bluetooth manager window says -- "Pairing failed"Â
When I go to Options, it shows the field to enter code. No matter what I enter there or if I leave empty, I won't be able to pair.Â
Otherwise BT works fine on Maverics, I have Apple keyboard, Logitech kayboard, Apple and Logitech trackpad and audio device connected, no issue.Â
The Remote presenter works also fine and I tried to re-pair it with other non-Mavericks machines and works fine too. Â
I am running Mavericks 10.9.3
I enable security preference pane requirepasword on waking from sleep.
I select sleep or close lid on my MBP but nothin happens.
How can I enable?

When I visit websites, I constantly have to hit the zoom in button in the Safari menu bar. If I don't do this, there are words that overlap on the page. Is there a way I could make Safari remember my zoom options? I have 18 point selected under the Advanced section of Safari System Preferences. I also use Chrome and Chrome seems to remember my view options.
