Since I upgraded to Lion I can't use any of the microsoft office applications. I need to access Excel for work. How to address this issue?

I've removed the share from my synology NAS and my iMac did back up once I re-enabled it but the problem came back today. Â

I updated to Lion on my desktop a few months ago and I swear now I can't read older Microsoft word and Excel documents correctly on this computer using Office 2011. The document opens and you can see all of the data in a preview window (from finder) but once it opens fully the data/words are not there. I have Lion on a brand new Macbook Pro I just purchased and installed the Microsoft Office 2011 and it opened the excel document I was having trouble with fine.I can't find many links for Office for Mac issues.Â

I have a Freecom Quattro Dock which allows me to hot swap hard disks, and it's connected to my iMac via Firewire 800. I use it to backup my internal HD. I backed up my iMac HD and then proceeded to upgrade from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 which appeared successful, but now my iMac cannot see the disk connected to the dock via the Firewire 800 port. The dock has USB 2 and Firewire 400 connections, and it works fine via Firewire 400.

I then removed it (or thought I did) so I could install Microsoft Office 2004. When I try to open any of the office applications I'm told that I need to locate microsoft office 2001 because it thinks it is still the upgrade

I did upgrade to yosemite 10.10.1 after that my word is keep crashing. When I open any word file then word will continue open all of word file in my mac. It become like a slide show on my mac and I have to wait for 5 minute untill the word process finished.

I have an Intel-based iMac which I just upgraded two days ago from Snow Leopard to Lion (10.7.4). I did an upgrade-in-place (as opposed to a fresh install) and did a software update after the installation completed. I have my computer scheduled to wake up each morning at 6 a.m. When it wakes up, the sound doesn't work unless I reboot the computer. If I open up iTunes and try to play music, there is no sound (unless I reboot). The song progress meter at the top of iTunes won't even move when I hit the play button. When I open the Sound preference and click the Output tab, I do see the Headphone port and the output volume is set all the way up.

My question is...should I do it? Does anyone have any experience or insight into Office 2011? Okay, so we were forced to upgrade to Office 2008 so we could use the new Entourage, but we still want to use Word 2004 as our default for opening .doc documents.
You can go into the Get Info window all day long, set it and CHANGE ALL, but it doesn't work. Have tried this on various Macs, we're mostly still running Leopard, a few on Snow Leopard.
I have a Mini Server, 10.7.3. 8GB, SSD 256, use it for FCPX mostly. Just moved all datafiles to external disks and re-installed Lion, but now I cannot access my user account. When I started up the system after it had installed, it asked me for company name and email address, but then I cannot access my user account any more.
Do I need to re-install the system again, or how can I solve this? I don't remember what email address I used originally when I got the server and registered it, whether it was my personal or the business address, which I gave this time. Â
I do remember the login name and password that I have always used, but these don't work anymore and I have too many jobs pending this week.

I resurrected this Mac recently and I know it's old etc but Apple did keynote videos back when this machine was released didn't they? So what's changed, surely this iMac should play simple web based video like that. It just stutters and stops ,stutters vid gets blocky then I get the beachball. Some video will play fine, some wont, especially on YT etc but on Apples own site. Btw it is a 500MHz graphite G3 with 1Gb RAM, with recent fresh install of Tiger and fully upto date.
