Used to use Microsoft 2000 Word Processor on Dell Laptop. My iMac is 2 weeks old and documents have successfully been transferred from the Dell to Mac via Maxtor external hard drive. How can I open the Word Processing documents - NOT to use, but to read. WPS is the extension. There is plenty of discussion on MS Word, but not MS Word Processor

So any discussion of why Apple would remove the most common function of all word processors in the world, is not permitted. Let's be NICE then.... this is a common fuction that has been removed and it is costing my company lost time in productivity. We can't find files, we can't sort through "duplicates" and "versions". Common practicies our employees have used on all computers are now not compatible with three of our office systems. We upgrade to Lion 10.7.4 to get icloud for phones and ipads, and lose productivity in our office due to lost functions in a word processor. Apparently Apple doesn't want us to think for ourselves. Is there as way to restore this common function to Pages???

I have a MB Pro and run Office 2008 on it. I'm running OSX 10.5.8, but had the same thing occur on OSX 10.4.x so I believe its isolated to Office.
In Word, when I go File, Open the application hangs. It open the finder like window but it has a huge amount of columns and spans across at least ten screens. I have the spinning pin-wheel and the application reports as not responding. It does not happen when I do file, open recent.
I wanted to do some research on this processor, do you guys know what is the processor model code for the iMac's processor?
Is it a mobile processor or a desktop processor?
What is the difference between this one and this one?
My Macbook Pro suffered improper handling and disappeared from the system software office word, I know how to retrieve and install it again.

After upgrading to Lion, I can no longer see the text in my word documents or excel worksheets. I know the text is there because it appears in the formula bar - it just isn't visible in the cells. I can also see the text if I quickview the excel files. In the word documents, all I can see are the pictures/images...no text. Weird. I have the latest version of Office 2008 and Lion OS.

I am a student so I use Microsoft word a lot and when I use it I use it as Notebook layout.
When I first used it I had no problem at all. But then I don't know what happened but all of sudden the letters I type in would be on top of a line instead of writing between lines like as writing on a notebook.
I opened my previous notebook layout documents and compared it to the new one but couldn't find what was different.

this is really strange, and potentially a big irritant. so i started working with OOo Writer today on my MBP. and while everything is fine, i soon noticed that there seems to no shortcut to the right click! which means that every time the dictionary suggests a word correction, or i want to quickly access the right click menu, i am forced to move to the touchpad and use 2 fingers to right click! in windows there is the Alt key that quickly brings up the list of spelling corrections in 1 key stroke. so i must say i am rather surprised that this is not the case with mac os! i hope i am missing something out, otherwise my word processing work just became that much more tedious

But when I open OpenOffice in Applications you get the start screen where you usually get to choose between the different programs. First of all on the text "Welcome to openoffice", the bottom half of "Welcome to" is missing. And then all the icons below are kind of stacked onto each other so you can only access some of them and its impossible to see what the icons does, cause the text for them also run into each other.
