Intel Mac :: Upgrade The Office Database Window?
Jun 6, 2012I am getting a dialog box about upgrading the Office database. It keeps reappearing even if I click "Quit Outlook" or "Upgrade".I cannot make it go away.

Intel Mac :: Unsuccessful Rebuilding M/S Office Database Following The Installation Of A M/S Outlook Update?
Jun 4, 2012Running Mac OS X 10.7.4 with M/S Outlook 2011. I am a two day old ¨baby¨ on a MAC [heretofore a M/S OS PC user]. Did a M/S update yesterday including a ¨CRITICAL¨ M/S Word 14.2.2 version installation.Following the installation, I got a notice that "an older version of M/S Database daemon is running and I must first delete "daemon" from Startup Items & then restart my computer.See MAC OS help." OK, I confirmed daemon was not in the Startup Items and restarted my computer. Now, when I attempt to open M/S Outlook I get a notice that "There is a problem with the Office database. To use the database you must rebuild it using the Database Utility"...Two choices " Cancel" or "Rebuild" If I chose "Rebuild" I am notitified immeditely that "To use the database utility, you must first quit all Office applications" [There are no office applications open EXCEPT the Database Utility which I confirm using the Mac´s Force Quit Application]. In any event, I <click> "Quit All" and after about 3 minutes a box popsup telling me the same thing "to use the Database Utility I must first quit all Office applications".Â
If I choose "Cancel" on the the original notice that stated "There is a problem with the Office database. To use the database, you must rebuild it using the Database Utility." the notice disappears from the screen for about 5 seconds and then reappears. As an aside, I followed the instructions detailed by Christopher Breen, Macworld.com dated 18 April 2012 article "Undoing the damage wrought by Microsoft´s Outlook update" wherein he details a procedure to "REPLACE" M/S Outlook´s Database Headers with a working copy and thereby rebuild the Main Identity Database. Here again, after I <click> "REBUILD" in the Database Utility it comes up "UNSUCCESSFUL" in rebuilding the Main Identity database.Â

I got a message that read something like: there's an old version of Microsoft Database Daemon running; delete the daemon from the start elements and restart the computer. Now my question: how do I delete this daemon?

Apr 14, 2012I forgot my administrator's password for my home computer. I purchased office 2008 for mac with a free upgrade to office 2011. I upgraded it to 2011 when it came out (late 2010/early 2011). I have since made a new password and forgotten what it is. The mac tells me to reinstall my microsoft office but when I do, with the office 2008 disc, it tells me I have MORE RECENT SOFTWARE and to use that. I did it on line and cannot find it again.Â

Jun 28, 2012I have previously used the GRAB utility to take a snapshot of an open Safari windiw, and the snapshot included the entire windiw contents. When I opened the snapshot in Preview, I could scroll up and down and view the entire contents of the original Safari windiw. Then, I tried it again a few hours later on a different Safari window, but I then got only the part of the windiw that was visible in the browser at the time that I GRABbed the window (i.e., when I took the snapshot).What do I need to do to get the entire windiw?

Feb 12, 2009I mistakenly installed microsoft office 2004 (Upgrade edition), which requires office 2001 for it to work, onto my computer before discovering it wasn't the actual package. I then removed it (or thought I did) so I could install Microsoft Office 2004. When I try to open any of the office applications I'm told that I need to locate microsoft office 2001 because it thinks it is still the upgrade

Dec 5, 2014I did upgrade to yosemite 10.10.1 after that my word is keep crashing. When I open any word file then word will continue open all of word file in my mac. It become like a slide show on my mac and I have to wait for 5 minute untill the word process finished.

Nov 3, 2009it looks like windows 7 is 100X better than vista. My friends, who are running it via bootcamp, also say it is amazing.Right now, I am on XP SP3, which I strictly use for gaming. Everything else I do on OSX. I don't like being on an obselete OS very much, but the ONLY thing I use XP for is gaming, and haven't had any issues. Therefore, I have been under the impression that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" what do you guys think? Is windows 7 a must-get over xp, or should I stick with obselete, but very stable XP?

Purchase a qualifying Office 2008 for Mac product between Aug. 1, 2010, and Nov. 30, 2010, and you will be eligible to download Office for Mac 2011 at no additional cost* when it becomes available. My question is...should I do it? Does anyone have any experience or insight into Office 2011? Also...I'm not sure if this should be a determining factor, but my purchased copy of Office 2008 came with three product keys. Apparently if I upgrade to 2011, I only get one product key. Big deal?

Jan 8, 2010Okay, so we were forced to upgrade to Office 2008 so we could use the new Entourage, but we still want to use Word 2004 as our default for opening .doc documents.
You can go into the Get Info window all day long, set it and CHANGE ALL, but it doesn't work. Have tried this on various Macs, we're mostly still running Leopard, a few on Snow Leopard.
