My dashboard widgets froze -- open on screen. I had to close each widget.Now I now longer have one-click pop up of my selected widgets.I get a beep when I click the dashboard icon. I have to click the plus sign and open individual widgets.

Though I liked the Expos� per application feature, I would prefer having all my opened windows available in the same region they are minimized. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have this really annoying issue where my mouse will randomly double click in OS X when i didn't actually double click my mouse. I had this problem before in Leopard (with different mouse) but now it seems the problem has returned with snow leopard. has anyone else had this problem? I checked the mouse properties and there's nothing strange there. I also don't have custom drivers installed. Just default snow leopard drivers.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI put "levelwidget" on the dashboard - it is supposed to make a macbook into a Level. Sounded interesting...now I regret! The widget is corrupted and now when I try to open the dashboard it immediately closes and gives me an error message "you can't open the application motion because power pc applications are no longer supported" How do I delete this widget so I can open the dashboard. I've tried to look up the file, but can't seem to find dashboard widget files. Â

I put mistakenly a part of my browser in my dashboard and now everytime I want to open my dashboard it quickly jumps to my browser and opens the webpage.

I had some updates for my Macbook Pro (snow leopard- up to date) and for some reason now I can't open pdfs on the web on either safari or firefox. If I download them it works, but I can't view them on the acutal browser anymore. When I open a website that is the link to the pdf it just pulls up a black page- that's it, you refresh it refreshes the same thing. I reinstalled Adobe reader (I use Preview though) and still nothing. I don't kow *** is going on.

So I have an i5 27" that came with 4GB RAM (two 2 gig chips). I ordered two more 2 gig chips for a total of 8. When I went to install the two new ones, I followed logical steps. Remove the flexible plastic strip, slide the ram into the slot. However, the ram doesn't click, slide, or pop into place, in any way. I have tried both sides, and I have tried flipping the ram over and doing it backwards. I tried booting the computer with them in there even though they weren't settled in and it froze. I took them out, put the cover back on, and rebooted, and now every time I boot i get a meter that takes forever to fill up. Once booted, the computer does work normally. What am I doing wrong? And how can i fix this painfully long boot process? What have i done.

When I click on applications and then for example click on my music folder, it all opens up in a preview and then if i select another folder in my music folder that opens up like a preview as well. Its pretty cool but is there a way for the folder just to open when I click on it like with Leopard?

So a week ago I opened Photoshop and my macbook froze and gave me this screen:
I had to force it to shut down, and when I turned it back on, I'd get the chime, I'd see the logo and the spinning cog, then it would go to a white screen and either stall or shut itself off... I tried resetting the PRAM and SMC. I went into Disk Utility and verified the disk and the permissions. I also reset Photoshop's preferences, and completely reinstalled it. Booting in safe mode worked, but of course it's a little slow and I can't use some programs. I was able to start up normally by booting in single user mode and running the /sbin/fsck -fy command a couple times.Â
I ended up taking it to a Genius Bar, they ran a couple diagnostic tests and confirmed it wasn't a hardware issue and it was probably the OS. They reinstalled Snow Leopard, I restored my stuff with my Time Machine backup, and everything worked fine for a couple days.Â
But today when I turned it on, it shut itself down again! And running single user mode doesn't work anymore. It'll say "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK." and when I reboot, it shuts down at the white screen. Now the only way it will boot up is in safe mode, and if I close the lid to put it in sleep mode, it'll turn itself off after a few minutes.Â
I'm not incredibly tech savvy, but I'm wondering if it could be a third party program. I'm not sure how to find out which one is causing the issue, though... I've uninstalled SMCfanControl and StartupSound.prefpane. Those are the only two I can think of that could potentially mess with the startup...

Installed Snow Leopard and lost the ability to double click to open folders in Finder. I can right click to open folders but prefer to double click. Any ideas ? I can double click in other applications with no problems.

I have an older MacBook Pro running system 10.4.11. Yesterday, I started having strange trackpad behavior where it will sometime act as if I double-clicked when I only clicked once. So I'm highlighting everything until I double click again. Then, I sometimes have to double-click in places a single-click is supposed to work such as closing windows. I've rebooted, adjusted a trackpad settings and don't know what to do at this point.

I plugged in an external hard drive into my imac. Then all the sudden it froze. I restarted it and all my desktop icons are gone, I cant open finder or the trash. The bar at the top of the screen that has the time is gone / I have no idea what happened, or how to fix it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a 2011 Imac and was on the youtube watching a music video when all of a sudden my screen COMPLELETY froze, and a loud clicking noise kept repeating itself nonstop from the speaker, I'm not sure if the sound was coming from the song OR my computer actually making the noise itself. I held down the power button and waited a couple minutes and restarted. The white screen came on with the apple logo, but all of a sudden it completely froze, I waited a few minutes and powered off. I now waited 5 minutes and restarted and it WORKED! Everything seems fine?

View 5 Replies View RelatedBecause Adobe hasn't the Ballz to release a 64-bit version of Flash Player to all platforms, any application that runs in 64-bit and utilizes Flash will have to use the WebKitPluginHost to cater to Adobe's.32-bitness. This means Dashboard now consumes MUCH more resources than in Leopard. I made a Pandora Webclip back in 2007 and it has been FLAWLESS over the years, until Snow Leopard. My only hangup is, Dashboard only opens in 32-bit mode during the first uptime that I have checked "Open in 32-bit Mode". After a restart, it opens in 64-bit mode, EVEN while the same option is checked.

I've poured over these boards in hopes to finding a solution as to why my dashboard won't open. It literally stopped working mid day, one day when I went to return to get a number off of my sticky note in my dashboard. I have tried posting the different lists from my preferences page, however, am unable to get the docments to actually drag to my desktop. I'm not sure if there are any other solutions, but was hoping to find a quick fix as opposed to traveling 2 hours to the nearest genius bar. Any help would be awesome!!
