Software :: Opening Folder From Dock With A Single Click?
Jan 13, 2009
Does anyone know of an application, utility, etc. that will allow one to open a folder in the dock with a single click instead of clicking on the folder and selecting open from the menu?
This may be a silly question but when I have multiple finder windows open and I switch from one to the other then single click on a file, it opens the file.
This is really bugging me as I only want to select the file (to move it etc). Is there any way to prevent single click file opening?
Do you know if there is any way to have all my open windows available in the dock to move from one to other one with a single click? Though I liked the Expos per application feature, I would prefer having all my opened windows available in the same region they are minimized. On similar way, do you know if there is a way of having all the opened windows [instead of all the opened applications] available when doing COMMAND-TAB?
Sometimes when I'm working fast on my MacBook I click in the dock, opening applications that I don't want. This is a bit annoying to me, anyone knows how customize the dock in order it needs a double click to open the application - like is happens in the Applications folder?
I have a MacBook Air and when go to double click a folder on my desktop nothing hsappens.I can select it but double clicking does not open it. This also happens in some of my applications as well.

i dont have my mac in front of me but i was wondering if it is possible to open a file by a single click in Mac OS X. I have set up Ubuntu to do this on my work computer and i find it very cool
I'm looking for an app kind of like caffeine except for toggling wallpaper. Something that will let me switch from my trashy semi-pornographic wallpaper to something more respectful as needed with a single click.
I'm using a Magic Trackpad and can single click to switch between apps in the same Spaces desktop. But switching to apps on another Spaces desktop requires a double click. How can I change this to single click to switch regardless of Spaces desktop?

i have a new macbook with leopard. the short of the story and problem is that it keeps opening every single file over and over again. and i can not get it to stop!! any ideas of how to end this madness??? i will gladly take any suggestions.
I have an older MacBook Pro running system 10.4.11. Yesterday, I started having strange trackpad behavior where it will sometime act as if I double-clicked when I only clicked once. So I'm highlighting everything until I double click again. Then, I sometimes have to double-click in places a single-click is supposed to work such as closing windows. I've rebooted, adjusted a trackpad settings and don't know what to do at this point.
I have this really annoying issue where my mouse will randomly double click in OS X when i didn't actually double click my mouse. I had this problem before in Leopard (with different mouse) but now it seems the problem has returned with snow leopard. has anyone else had this problem? I checked the mouse properties and there's nothing strange there. I also don't have custom drivers installed. Just default snow leopard drivers.
My dashboard widgets froze -- open on screen. I had to close each widget. Now I now longer have one-click pop up of my selected widgets.I get a beep when I click the dashboard icon. I have to click the plus sign and open individual widgets.
I was able to cast a spotlight on an app in my dock, and then the rest of the screen became dim. For example, my Pages app was once open; after I clicked on it, along with pressing some other key (I assume), the Pages icon had a "light" shine on it in the dock, and the open window for the app moved to the center of the screen as the desktop darkened. It somewhat resembles what happens in Mission control. After having not seen that feature in many months, it happened again a little while ago by accident, but with a different app. What is this feature called? And what keyboard shortcuts are necessary to make it happen?Â
Before I formatted and reinstalled Lion on my MBP, I could select a window by tapping on its top bar and drag it using single finger on my trackpad. After reinstalling it, I am unable to do so. I have investigated the trackpad features in System Preferences, but it shows only the three-finger drag option. How do I get to select + drag a windown using single tap.

since turning on my macbook this evening overtime i click on something a new tab opens up most of them are spam, why and how is this happening? most importantly how do i stop it
The thing is that about a month or so I decided to change my dock skin, and just the dock, not any icon in particular. Later on I decided to go back to Leopard's original skin, once I replaced non-original skins with the original ones and had dock reseted by introducing "kill all Dock" on terminal, dock successfully reseted and looks like the original one... but somehow since then I can't no longer right-click on any of the icons in it, just can't, now I have to use cmd+Q to exit any of the applications I'm opening from dock. All other dock functions are working perfectly, like size bar and position changing.
The files I replaced/erased are: scurve-I.png scurve-m.png scurve-sm.png scurve-xl.png
By the way, I tried using "killall Dock" over and over again after replacing those archives and tried resetting dock using candybar application, but none of those worked for me so far.
Got my Mac back and thought it would be easy to reboot it from time machine, it kinda was but Icant open iPhoto comes up with a small window asking what iPhoto it wants me to open and there is none.
Sister-in-law drags and clicks everything! Result is what looks like pages behind some of the icons in the dock. Can't click them. Drag an icon away and they stay but are covered immediately when the icons rearrange themselves. There are 4 or 5 of them including one hiding behind the trash. Mousing over them doesn't give any info.
I'm looking for a way to open 2 programs at the same time when I click one from the dock. My example is opening Spotify, and I want Airfoil to open at the same time to stream the audio.
The dock on my Mac only appears when I click on it. I'm pretty sure I just accidentally pressed a keyboard shortcut, but I don't know how to reverse it.
I already tried Command+Option+D, but that's not the problem (it's not that my mouse has to hover over where the dock should be - I physically have to click in that space. As soon as I click on another application, the dock disappears again).
So I have some sensitive documents in a folder on my Mac that I'd like to restrict access to. Is there a way to password protect a single folder within Finder so that people using my Mac cannot view the contents?Seems like it should be an easy thing to do, but it doesn't look like I have that option.
I don't know what happened but for some reason, I can no longer right click or remove any items from my Dock
I have Onyx installed which has an option to lock the dock, however that is off. I am certain that my dock isn't locked because I am able to move items around the dock, and also add new items
I don't know when this started but it may have been because I was changing the dock's appearance by replacing some of the pictures in the system files (frontline.png, separator.png etc.)
I've restarted my Macbook a couple of times and have also done killall Dock in the terminal but everytime, I still have these two problems
Also, when booting up my Macbook now, the dock takes much longer to load. Before, it would usually be one of the quicker things to bootup but now it is always the last (before Quicksilver was usually the last program to load for me)
I also used a Terminal command to add a "Recent Applications" stack by following instructions posted here: [URL]
I've since removed this Stack but the problem still occurs. Don't know whether or not this had an impact or not
It's very annoying that sometimes I click an icon that I didn't intend to open. Is there any way to make the apps in dock open with a double click, instead of a single click?
Whenever I open Safari and click the green orb instead of resizing the window it just makes the window go behind and underneath the dock, and if I click the green orb again it resizes it correctly, but the same thing happens again if I close and then open Safari..I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro... just in case it makes a difference.
I received my 15" MacBook Pro 3 days ago and tonight I happened to notice a slight click noise when i open or close the lid. It sounds like it is coming from the hinge area.
