MacBook Pro :: Yosemite Freezes And Restart OS?

Dec 5, 2014

Before two weeks I have done a clean install of OS Yosemite in my MBP retina.

But unfortunately I have noticed some bugs such as:

- When I press Shut down the dock stays the half freezed, not completely disappeared and then the system shut down.

- Its a grey screen when I switch on from sleep

- It has completely freezed 3 times and restarts itself

- The wifi signal has been lost 2 times, in my home using my router wlan.

- The continuity doesn't work with my iPhone 6+.

- I don't know but I think that Mavericks were faster..

I have done PRAM and SMC reset but nothing.

PowerPC :: Ibook Keeps Randomly Locking Up - System Freezes In The Process?

Nov 30, 2007

recently my ibook keeps randomly locking up, it first started the other day when it got stuck on a blue screen at start-up eventually it came on, but kept locking up, no spinning beech ball just completely froze, i held down the power button to turn it off, i then had to wait at least ten minutes before trying to start up again, if i didn't it would get stuck on the blue screen, then something else weird happened, when i started up it came up with the mac set-up assistant similar to when you first upgrade, so i turned it off again and it went away, so i started up again this time i noticed that spotlight was indexing, despite it already doing that ages ago when i upgraded to leopard, so i thought this had something to do with it, because it kept freezing in the process, but today i turned it on, let it index and to my surprise it didn't lock up, so i went to play world of warcraft, and as soon as the login screen came up it locked up agai

MacBook Pro :: Randomly Loses Retina Display And Showing Pixels On Top Menu Randomly?

Sep 4, 2014

My mid-2014 15" Macbook Pro randomly "loses" its retina display at the top menu (becomes pixel-y), where the battery, sound, and wifi logos are (on the top right side of the screen). A restart fixes the issue, but I want to know if this is an issue that can be fixed?

OS X Yosemite :: What WiFi Networks Are On IMac / How To Clear Them

Dec 4, 2014

Recently searched the history of my iMac to see just what was loaded into the system.  What I found was that there were 3 different WI-FI networks on my iMac and I would like to know just what they belong to?  One is called "Orangecat", another is "wildchild"  and the last one is also "wildchild-guest". What these accounts are associated with and if they are part of the internal configuration of my iMac?

IMac :: I7 Randomly Hanging - Need To Hard Restart

Apr 26, 2010

Recently, my iMac 27" i7 has begun hanging in the most bizarre fashion. It usually seems to happen when I wake the computer from sleep or screen saver, but that isn't always the case. What will happen is that when I get to the computer, Mail will show symbology that indicates it is not connected to the Internet or Safari, upon booting, will not open a webpage (it sits on a white screen rather than delivering an error). I'll go to quit one of the offending programs, and it will not quit and beach balls instead. I then right click on the dock to trigger a force quit, and the force quit does nothing and the dock beachballs. I try to restart/shut down, and nothing happens. Thus I am forced to hard restart.

Conversely, I am sometimes able to get an offending program to force quit, but the rest of the computer (anything I click locks up) beachballs leaving me to hard restart. I find when this happens, my first instinct is to click system prefs and go to networking, where when I click networking, it locks up. Then I have to hard restart. Finally, there are times when it does respond to a restart request. It will go through the restart process up to the blue screen at the end, where the little spinning doohickey will appear and stay there indefinitely, forcing me to hard restart. It didn't seem to happen before I got my iPad but happens about every other day now.

At first it seemed to happen after I had my iPad charge from my computer, but now it seems to happen regardless. One time it hung while syncing with my iPhone and required me to restore it since the phone got messed up. I've done everything I can think to do to get to the source of the problem and I can't figure it out. I've looked through logs and didn't see problems (granted, I don't know if I'm looking at correct logs or if I'm looking for the right events). I have repaired permissions, and that seemed to help but not fix the problem. I bridge my iPad to my computer through Internet connection sharing, since I have an Ethernet internet connection. I created Automator work flows to turn it on and off (and AirPort) as I never leave it on when not using it.

OS X :: IMac Freezes On Restart

Jan 6, 2011

I have a 3.06 Intel Core 2 Duo iMac with Snow Leopard. It is completely up-to-date and has always ran beautifully. I have not installed any new programs lately. Recently, when I go to APPLE > Restart (maybe after an update or just because I like to restart my computer on occasion) the bar at the top disappears, my dock stays up on the screen, and the computer just sits there and freezes up on me. I am forced to hold down the button on the back to get my computer back. Here are the things I have tried:Re-install of the latest update using Combo Update Reset PRAM Repaired Permissions Booted from disk and ran a Repair Disk Complete zero-out of the HD, clean install of Snow Leopard, and reinstallation of everything from a Time Machine backup Nothing has worked...The other problem is that it only happens when my computer is on for several days. If I restart daily, it doesn't happen. So, it makes it hard for me to log-in as a different user for that long to initiate the problem. I think it has something to do with a program that I may open and close throughout the week but I have no way to pinpoint what program it is.

OS X Yosemite :: IMac Keeps Freezing / Needing A Restart

Dec 4, 2014

My 2011 21.5 inch iMac keeps freezing.  Strangely, the trackpad works but nothing on the screen reacts to moving the cursor around or clicking anywhere. requiring a restart (using the power button on the back).

When I then restart, I get an immediate error message saying "A graphics problem has been detected" and enables me to report the problem, which I do.

However, this happens several times a day and only since an upgrade to Yosemite and I have tried a software update.

IMac :: System Shutdowns Randomly / Handbrake Or Bad Memory?

Aug 4, 2009

Does anyone know if there is a certain temperature that causes iMac's to shut down? I have been queuing up a number of movies in Handbrake and letting the iMac chomp away at them. For several months this was not an issue (this is a 2009 iMac 2.93 base model, no upgrades.) For the last week or two, I have come back to find the computer off a number of times.

Every time it has done it i was while Handbrake had the processor pegged at 100% for a long time. The 3 highest temps are usually the power supply, the Northbridge and the CPU and the highest I have seen them is right around 70C. Last night I did some messing around with that fan control program and got the fans to run higher while Handbrake was running.

I managed to keep all of the temps below 65C. I am going to leave it like this for a while and see if I have any more problems. I'm also going to try to cut back on the number I queue up at a time. I was setting up enough to keep it going for 12-14 hours. I don't actually think it was a time thing though as last night it shut down while my wife was using it and it was less than 2 hours after I started a batch.

Has anyone else had similar experiences? I see some people suggesting it could be caused by bad memory, but as mine only seems to happen with Handbrake at 100%, I'm thinking it's just heat.

So I have an old imac running OSX 10.3.9 and recently it started making a whoosh sound randomly at will. It sounds like a whiffle ball bat missing the ball. Also for no apparent reason it started saying "you have logged in" every time I wake it up. Any clue how to make these annoying sounds go away and or what may have started them?

IMac :: Replaced HD But System Freezes On Startup

Nov 10, 2009

I have a early 09 iMac 2.93Ghz with 6GB of ram. About a month ago it kept freezing at the grey startup screen. I took it to Apple and two trips to Apple later my hard drive was replaced. One month later here I am and the problem is happening again, the same exact problem. I turn on the iMac it goes to the grey screen, the beach ball "like" thing starts spinning and then it freezes in the middle of it and I have to do a hard power off(hold down the power button). Any ideas!? I already scheduled a appointment with Apple tomorrow afternoon but its a royal pain in the a** to keep shuffling my iMac between home and the Apple store. This will be my 4th trip in for the same problem, btw.

OS X Mavericks :: Slow Shutdown / Restart / Log Out On MBP Retina 10.9.3

Jun 17, 2014

I have been unable to shutdown or restart my MBP mid 2012 retina (2.6 GHz Intel Core i70, other than by holding down the power button.  I've tried, (safe mode, restore, repair permissions reset PVRAM. etc).  I finally got it to shutdown regularly by eliminating all Divx software on my computer (no easy task), but shutdowns and restarts still hang an unusually long time, about 15 seconds.

I send console information just before my last BOOT_TIME to see if any process in the time after restart command and boot would give any hints.  Here are the entries, and there appear to be some problems but I cannot interpret them.  I have an external WD passport drive connected (which I can eject before restarting with no noticeable effect, and a USB hub, which I also disconnect to no effect).

Sometimes, the display randomly blanks and the monitor reports no signal. This occurs continuosly for a few minutes and then the display goes back to normal. Sometimes I have to plug in/plug out the monitor to make it recover. /var/log/system.log shows no logs while these blinks occur.

IMac :: System Freezes - Can't Move Mouse - Chocking On Audio

I have late 2007 Mac mini and I have Snow Leopard installed and I was simply watching a Youtube video and then all of a sudden the entire system freezes (couldn't move the mouse) or anything and started choking on the audio (replaying a bit over and over)... had to manually power it off. The hard drive was replaced several months ago at the Apple Store... so I doubt it's the HD. The Mini is back on now of course... it's running fine, but I've never seen anything like that before. Anyone else ever have this issue?

I had to force the turn off using the power button. When i turned it back on it took about 4 mins to get to the login screen. Once I logged in the spinning wheel came up and the only think that loaded was the Spotlight sign. This kept happening until about the third time of turning it off and on. When it finally completed login. But it is now extremely slow and it just about freezes when I open more than one application.

Intel Mac :: Freezes And Crashes Randomly

Feb 3, 2012

My iMac randomly freezes and crashes on me.  Most of the freezes occur when scrolling with my trackpad on websites with Google Chrome.  I get the pinwheel and have to use the power button to turn off and on the iMac.  I haven't noticed any particular connection to Flash websites or video related sites.  It just seems kind of random.  I've also been careful to have absolutely nothing else running and it still does not prevent it.

Also, from time to time the iMac will crash and go to a solid color screen.  Either Blue-Gray, White or Black.  It seems to be random colors.  When this happens, I have to use the power button to cycle it off and back on again.

Some info about my iMac: Model Identifier: iMac7,1  Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo  Processor Speed: 2 GHz Mac OSX 10.6.8

What could be causing this or how can I diagnose the problem?  I can give more info if needed.

One is connected via an HDMI cable (HP2405) and the other via a thunderbolt to HDMI cable with a DVI adapter (HP2448).Would I be better of using a Thunderbolt connection for both displays ? Or any other connection?
