OS X Yosemite :: Safari Will Not Function Since Downloading Upgrade
Dec 5, 2014
Since I downloaded Yosemite, Safari opens, then the spinning ball appears, can not do anything and it generally shuts down on its own or I have to force quit.

After my Yosemite upgrade, Safari has become very unstable. Constantly shutting down current screen(s) and or just sitting there loading a page until I get a "Safari Cannot Load Page" error due to servers not being found. Even on the Apple website this happens. Very frustrating when doing online banking and all info is lost when you have this issue happening upon an entry.
Mid 2010 Mac Mini 8G ram 2.4Ghz IC2duo Yosemite 10.10.1 hard wired networking HughesNet Gen4 Satellite internet and is active when this occurs (started checking connection validiity with another pass thru device AFTER this issue started)

After installing Yosemite on my iMac, I can't get the backup file function to work. I get a note saying I must erase the disk using Disk Utility. I don't know what that is or how to do it?

I upgraded yesterday, and since then my key commands no longer work. If I restart, they will work for a little while, then suddenly stop working. I cannot take screen shots, or get Expose to work with F10, F12, etc. Apple-Tab doesn't bring up the applications currently open, etc. I've searched all over for this issue, but not finding anything. On a Macbook Pro, upgraded from Tiger.

The find function in Safari no longer finds strings within a word. A string can only be found if if the first letters of the word are included. This is different to Firefox, where the find function will find any string.

I'm running OS 10.7.4 on an Intel desktop Mac. I'm using Safari 5.1.7, as well as the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox. I have the most recent version of Java. Pop-up blockers are off. The Java plug-in is enabled. When I try to use a particular web page - specifically, Amazon's - in response to various simple commands I get the error message: javascript:void (false); This happens in all three browsers. Needless to say, the important function on the web page that I'm trying to utilize doesn't work when this error message appears.

Question about the Command+ F function. Is there a way to close the small area that pops for you to write the word you are searching for in the current webpage by using a shortcut? The only way I know of how to close that is by clicking done, but I would like to know if there is a shortcut or something.

I just installed Safari 3.2.1 and find that I have no operable Back- Forward browse feature.
The buttons are there but always grayed out as if no previous page existed. Too, when I right click on a web page I no longer get "back" as a default. It comes up "reload" no matter where on the page I click. Finally, when I view History the only link displayed is the page that I am on. To get to a previous page I must select "Earlier Today". I DO NOT have Private Viewing selected.
What gives? This is a primary feature. lacking it makes it very difficult to use the browser.

If I have Safari open as a window on my desktop, it will generally 'resume' (as in, most of time remember what I had open) after shutting down and booting up again. However, if I have Safari open in full-screen mode (as I prefer to), it never remembers resumes upon shutting down and booting up again; Safari is open (the little light in dock shows up) as if to say OS remembered I had Safari open, but there is no window and upon opening a new window, none of my tabs are restored.

I can't seem to find a way to continue to sync my iPod Touch to my Mac without it automatically syncing over the iPod's Safari bookmarks to my Safari on the computer. I want to keep this bookmarks separate but every time it still wants to sync the Safari data on the iPod to the Safari data on the Mac.

When I download the latest version of Safari from Apple's website and try to install it, I get a message telling me that I cannot install to my hard drive because I don't have some sort of security update.
It gives me numbers like the x.x.x version but when I search for it in Apple's website it gives me a few different versions for the update for both Tiger and Leopard.
Is this normal? If so, anyone have a link to the correct security update?
I have a new Unibody 15" MBP.

I have a MacBook1,1 running Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. I would like to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. The Mac App Store says that a 64 bit processor is required. since my MacBook has a 32 bit Intel Core Duo, I would like to replace it with a 64 bit Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Is this possible, if so, what are the risks and should I bring it into an Apple store to get it fixed.

I upgraded to Yosemite on my MacBook Pro (non-retina). Now the system is incredibly slow.
1) wake-up form sleep takes up to a minute
2) Various icons will not open or respond until I have clicked on it three or four times and get the spinning beach ball (Finder, Calendar, iTunes)
3) Using Outlook for Mac app - similar issue as 2 when trying to send mail, add attachments or do anything
speeding the system back to Mountain Lion levels?

I upgraded from Yosemite 10.10 to 10.10.1 a bit over a week ago. I am using a Mac Pro (Mid-2010). iMessage worked fine after my upgrade from Mavericks 9.5 to Yosemite 10.10. When the 10.10.1 upgrade came out, I upgraded. Now, I cannot activate iMessage. I get a message that basically says my Apple ID is not recognized. The same Apple ID and iMessage work fine on my rMPB (late 2013) running the upgraded Yosemite 10.10.1. I have not, in all my attempts to activate, received the error code that some folks mention.
