I am getting a pop up "Are you sure you want to shut down your computer now?".
The one we get, if pressed the power button to switch it off?. The problem is not consistent and mostly I get if left inactive for some time(random). I have run the hardware test(installer DVD and pressing D) without any issue found.
I updated my mac book air with yosemite yesterday. But from today morning I am not able to shut down the mac book. Screen is locked and none of the options are working.

After my Yosemite upgrade, Safari has become very unstable. Constantly shutting down current screen(s) and or just sitting there loading a page until I get a "Safari Cannot Load Page" error due to servers not being found. Even on the Apple website this happens. Very frustrating when doing online banking and all info is lost when you have this issue happening upon an entry.

Is it possible to do this? Just my brother has a habit of leaving the desktop PC, the big energy guzzler, on overnight. Is there anyway to shut it down remotely? FTP or whatever? All'st I know is the Mac technician at uni can shut all the machines down in a block from one machine.

Permissions and this check show no errors, the only error sleep mode failure. Boot up is very slow as well as wake up when possible is slow. Yosemite seems to need a new release in order to correct the boot problems. System operates more like a Windows machine than Apple machine what's going on?

Could someone please explain to me why my computer is shutting down in sleep-mode. In addition, when it happens, the fan goes into hyperblow, which doesn't make sense because it would not be operating if the system were completely shut down. It acts like it is shut down but won't respond or wake up, etc. I re-loaded my system software per the Mac Store Genius' advice, but that didn't work. Is it possible that my power supply is going?

I was just in my room minding my own business and I heard my iMac "shut down" but nothing happened, and I'm still able to use it like normal as I type this message. It seemed to quiet down my fans though, they are still running but much quieter so I guess in a way its a good thing.I'm just curious as to what happened here.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI was doing software update today when all of a sudden my computer seemed to be overloading from the apps I was running prior...After 10 minutes of "Circle of Death" I performed a emergency shut down. (Probably not the best idea) Afterwards I restarted and was stuck on the main loading screen, (Apple with grey swirling circle) I left this for about 20 minutes came back to check on it and nothing had happened, several restarts with no new conclusion.I popped in the startup disk and ran a diagnostic on it with everything coming back fine...What the heck do I do now?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis morning the hard drive on my G5 sounded like it was at 8000 rpm's and there was a message on my screen to shut down the computer using the power button. I did this. Now anytime I try to power back up, I get the white screen with the apple and the "booting" icon, which then goes to a blue screen with the same icon, which then is just the blue screen with my mouse icon floating around. Also, on the random occasion, after booting to the blue screen it takes me to a DOS looking screen that asks for my login and password, of which I have neither.

I am having a problem with my external hard drive. I was using it the other day working with some of the files on it and it shut down my computer a couple times. The second time it did this, after the computer shut down, I would turn it on and then it would go right back off until I removed the hard drive and turned it on and it was fine. Now my computer won't recognize the hard drive at all when i plug it in. The light on the hard drive will come on but it will not show up on my computer.
The hard drive is a WD 1TB Passport and it still works fine with every other computer I plug it into, PCs and macs both.I have a late 2008 13" Aluminum Macbook
I have an older e-mac that I use and the display suddenly became distorted and stretched. I can't see all of the words in finder or even the apple icon to shut down the computer...it has stretched far off of the display.I tried the display settings in system preferences and tried to adjust settings in geometry I can adjust the height but not the width.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is something to be worried about but I notice that when the tip of the display port cord ( from the ACD ) touches the metal frame of my MacBook Pro there is a tiny blue arch of electricity visible. Well, I just bumped that cord into the frame of the MBP and as soon as that happened the computer completely shut off, it just went to a black screen and turned back on when I connected it via AC outlet. When the computer started back up the clock was messed up ( 2008 date ) and it had forgotten all of my WIFI passwords.
I was just wondering why this happens?
I am running Mac OSX 10.7.3 and I recently been having issues shutting down my computer with mail running. Sometimes it takes 2-3 mins for it to shut mail down and other times it says it couldn't shut down because of the mail app. Is there anything I can do short of reinstalling Lion?
