View 8 RepliesI recently enabled a new email address for myself and everything seems to work fine on my Mac and iphone except for icloud. I keep getting messages that pop up asking for my password to my old apple id and it never recognizes it when I put it in. Why won't icloud recognize my new apple id and password? How do I disable the old one for good? When I go into settings, the informations seems to be all correct but I still keep getting the same old annoying messages.

all of a sudden the middle mouse button stopped opening dashboard and now works as autoscroll. I have checked in expose and DB is still set to middle mouse button.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI commonly work with remote desktops (using Citrix) on Windows servers from my MacBook Pro. The apps I commonly use require the use of Function keys. I know I can go into System Preferences to change how they work (turning the Fn option on or off), but this is difficult to do with the frequency I need to. When I'm not remoted in, I prefer to keep my keys as the normal Mac functions. Is there a utility for my Menu Bar that will let me quickly toggle this option, without needing to go into System Preferences each time? I looked up FunctionFlip, but it does individual keys, and no longer has a Menu Bar icon.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had my mighty mouse for a couple months and it has worked great on my macbook. Just recently the middle button won't open up the dashboard and the two side buttons go through spaces instead of exposing all windows. In system proferences under mouse and spaces both are set for the middle button to open the dashboard and the side buttons to expose all windows but they don't do that. It could be an easy fix but I don't know what else to try?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI got a Logitech G5 Refresh mouse, and have had it for allmost 2 years now. I'm a windows man that has just turned in to OS X about 14 days ago, s still have a very lot to learn..
But the thing is, that i was used to - in Windows, that i could browse forward and backwards with the 2 buttons placed close to my thumb on the mouse, instead of the browser/applications forward and backwards buttons..
Is there a way to do so in OS X? I've looked in Preferences, but i did'nt really find anything useful..
the whole purpose for purchasing the Mighty Mouse was that it worked so well with the Mac and made everything so natural.
the new mouse seems to remove this extremely useful feature.
Can anyone tell me if there is some multi-touch capability in the new mouse that interfaces with Expose.
If not, then this mouse is worthless until Apple puts the feature back in - buttons on the side again or not.
If you use the new mouse, you cannot use expose without having to reach over your keyboard.
Whenever I move the mouse near the top left of a open window, it minimizes. It seemed to only happen recently as well. Any way to turn off this function?

Maybe there is some kind of setting or unix trick to specify "Never change Left and Right Mouse Button Functions?"

How can I assign the square root function (button) in Apple's Calculator application to the F13 button?
Similarly, how to assign other buttons within applications to Function keys. (as opposed to assigning menu items to Function keys by using Keyboard application preferences)

I just did a restart. I have done them several times before with no problem. This time I lost the swipe function on my mouse. Everything else works. If I right click and click "back", that works. My battery is ok. My IMAC is only 60 days old.

View 2 Replies View Relatedone has a broken scroll wheel, one is perfectly functional, and another is still new in the box.when plugged into my Mac mini the all of them can trigger expose (squeeze) and dashboard (middle button) every time. right click works beautifully.however when i plug them into my MacBook and set it up for spaces (middle button) and expose (squeeze) - neither of the functions work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to disable the dashboard? I never really use it, and it would be nice just to disable it altogether and use the key for something else.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm switching from a PC to a Mac. I have a PC utility called "My Function Keys" that allows me to "program" the function keys to do a combination of keystrokes. For example, I can set up F9 to do a copy and F10 to do a paste, so I don't have to do the Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V, or I can set up F2 to type my address, etc. Is there a similar utility for the Mac? I did find some information at this link: [URL]. Which states: iBook: How Programmable Function Keys Work. This article describes the programmable function key operation for iBook and the PowerBook (FireWire) computers. The programmable function keys were created to help simplify common, everyday tasks performed on the computer.
You can use these keys to open a browser, an email application, or any other frequently used application or server by pressing a single key. To set up a programmable function key, open the Keyboard control panel. Or, if the keys have not been programmed yet, simply pressing one of them brings up a dialog box that leads you to the Keyboard control panel. Apple has preprogrammed F1 through F6 with such common control functions as screen brightness, speaker volume, and so on. F7 through F12 can be programmed for your personal choices. To help you identify what the function keys were programmed to do, Apple includes with iBook a variety of durable stickers with preselected icons. Once the keys are programmed, you can select the stickers that will best remind you of the assigned functions.
Note: The stickers should not be placed on the keycap itself, rather above them on the iBook case. To remove the sticker, use a fingernail or other non-abrasive tool to remove them and avoid scratching the plastics. The function keys F1 through F12 can be easily reset to have primary functionality. Simply open the Keyboard control panel and select Options. Then check the box that says Use F1 through F12 as Function keys. Note: Programmable function keys are not a feature of Mac OS X 10.0. So, it appears the iBook will do what I'm looking for, but not the iMac!

View 6 Replies View RelatedHere's my question: I open a folder (e.g. A) in list view and see all subfolders of A. I then open one of the subfolders (e.g. 1) using the triangle and then see the subfolder's contents. Due to the limited window size I no longer see all other subfolders of A. So far so good.
Now comes my problem: Whenever I open folder A again in list view, be it in two minutes, hours, or days afterwards, I again see the same view I left off, meaning I still see the subfolder 1's contents, but due to the limited window size I again don't see other subfolders. However, most of the time I'm no more interested in the same subfolders and always have to collapse them before seeing ALL of the contents of the folder A.
Is there a way of turning off the "memory" function? I don't want finder to show the subfolders I opened last open again.
Since i installed 10.6.4 i have lost the ability to move items from Finder (Local) to the Trash, however, my iPod Classic (160GB - External Disc Use) and various Memory Sticks (USB - Various Sizes) use the Trash perfectly.
