Dec 24, 2008I just got a new Mac after a long long time....
So I want to watch videos downloaded from the internet, either M3U or PLS . The files seem to be automatically transfered to itunes for playing, and yet it is not able (maybe not compatible?) to play these types of files...
I have tried opening these files with other applications: Quick Time or Adobe Flash Player as the video supplier advises...but nothing happens..as I assume they are already itune files...

I've imported all bookmarks and everything, but the problem I'm having is viewing the Facebook home page in Safari. It only shows each news feed items as long as their profile icon. So most posts are cut off. How can I get the page to show each post fully? Most pictures are video thumbnails are all cut off.

Safari :: How To Download YouTube Videos For Offline Viewing
Jun 28, 2012What has happened to video downloads in YouTube? In the Activity window I used to be able to option double click on the video file and it would download so that I can view offline. Now I notice that video files are broken into 1.7MB pieces and have an expiry time (I think(?)). Is this YouTube's attempt at controlling piracy? So how can someone download these videos for offline viewing? I don't do this to pirate anything.
Its simply that its more convenient to have it on my disk for a short period of time so that I can view it when offline or want to have much quicker access to the video e.g. I have been following some tutorials on playing the guitar. Often I need to start and stop and search through the video for a particular segment. If I have to wait for the video to load from YouTube it takes some seconds or minutes which can be quite frustrating.

Somehow, she managed to get a full-screen (no tool bar, no menu, no scroll bar, just a big full screen image) of the webpage I was looking at on Safari. May 8, 2010Not sure if anyone else has this problem or not, I noticed on my 2007 model MacBook Pro, that when I view videos through either Safari, Firefox or any other browser, my GPU temp goes up to around 81 degree celsius unless fans kick in OR I set them to kick in.
I observe temp using iStat Widget.
On the other hand, I just finished watching a movie on my very same laptop through VLC, that is through a media player and not through flash and noticed that temperature barely hit 63 degree celsius. I know flash still has issues and that this will not probably improve with my model ever in the future, but is it normal and should I live with it?
OS X :: Downloading The New Safari?
Mar 1, 2009When I download the latest version of Safari from Apple's website and try to install it, I get a message telling me that I cannot install to my hard drive because I don't have some sort of security update.
It gives me numbers like the x.x.x version but when I search for it in Apple's website it gives me a few different versions for the update for both Tiger and Leopard.
Is this normal? If so, anyone have a link to the correct security update?
I have a new Unibody 15" MBP.

Jun 18, 2009I have a mac mini with 10.5.6 leopard installed connected thru hdmi cable I believe it's called to my samsung LCD display.
Now the problem is when 10.5.7 was introduced I suffered display resoultion problems like some other people too who have the mac mini. I spoke to apple who said they were aware of the issue and for me to do a archive and install to go back to 10.5.6. Which I did. They told me that they will send the info to apple engineers in the USA so they can work on a fix. This was all discussed when 10.5.7 was released. Now that new safari has been launched safari4. I am unable to download this as it asks me to install 10.5.7. I spoke to apple last night who said they still don't have any updates on this issue yet. They said they will try look into this and get back to me. In the mean time I an stuck with current version of safari I have and a less secure 105.6 OS. As I believe 10.5.7. Improves security on my system.

Apr 3, 2012Safari downloads .wav files from my dictation manager web site with a .exe extension. I'm assuming this has something to do with the MIME types defined on that page. I can't fix that as the web page is not under my control. Is there a way I can tell Safari not to do that, or how to handle these files?

Feb 24, 2009it's a little trick that most people know, but you can download flv's and other things directly from the safari browser just by accessing the activities window. however, after the first few flvs i've downloaded, all the rest are out of sync by a few seconds. does anyone know the problem or have a solution? i am using quicktime armed with perian to watch the flv's. i dont think the quicktime player is the issue for the first two flv's i've downloaded from facebook work finr, it's the just ones i download recently that are messing up. anyone have a clue?

Nov 24, 2009this happens at least 2-3 times a day. I will click to go to a youtube video, or some video on a site. The download box will immediately pop up and it will start to download the flv file of the video i'm watching. It gets annoying, but it doesn't happen all the time.
