View 15 RepliesI just got a macbook pro 15.4 with 10.6.4 or updated OS. The ctrl+F2 (move focus to top drop down menus such as file, edt, etc) doesn't work. History: Loaded everything, updated software and then noticed it didn't work. Called mac, went back and forth, in the end they said do a reinstall.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just noticed... I can't seem to switch between spaces anymore by pressing control-1, control-2, control-3 and control-4.
Usually I had it setup that my email at work was open on 4, web up on 1, chat on 2, and 3 was my "hey, I wasn't fooling around" blank desktop. Has anyone else noticed it stopped working? (might have been when I upgraded from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6?)
I checked in the spaces config, I just saw the settings to use the arrow keys with the control, option, or apple keys.
What does "empty cache" do in the Safari pull down menu?
View 12 Replies View RelatedAm having lots of Mail issues today, but besides not being able to receive messages, the ones I have gotten with attachments, when you pull down the "save" attachment button, the font is a bunch the letter A in a box. Any way to change to the default font. Have tried changing the font in the preferences, but it doesn't seem to change that area. Cannot read what the attachments even are.

I am unable to get Mac OS 10.7.3 with Safari 5.1.5 Lion to function. Anyone familiar with the probelem and solution?? i've tried a number of suggestions that have all failed.Â

The find function in Safari no longer finds strings within a word. A string can only be found if if the first letters of the word are included. This is different to Firefox, where the find function will find any string.

I'm running OS 10.7.4 on an Intel desktop Mac. I'm using Safari 5.1.7, as well as the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox. I have the most recent version of Java. Pop-up blockers are off. The Java plug-in is enabled. When I try to use a particular web page - specifically, Amazon's - in response to various simple commands I get the error message: javascript:void (false); This happens in all three browsers. Needless to say, the important function on the web page that I'm trying to utilize doesn't work when this error message appears.Â

Question about the Command+ F function. Is there a way to close the small area that pops for you to write the word you are searching for in the current webpage by using a shortcut? The only way I know of how to close that is by clicking done, but I would like to know if there is a shortcut or something.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook updated Safari tonight only to render the program inoperable. It hangs and freezes and shuts down. Takes forever to load.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince I downloaded Yosemite, Safari opens, then the spinning ball appears, can not do anything and it generally shuts down on its own or I have to force quit.

I just installed Safari 3.2.1 and find that I have no operable Back- Forward browse feature.
The buttons are there but always grayed out as if no previous page existed. Too, when I right click on a web page I no longer get "back" as a default. It comes up "reload" no matter where on the page I click. Finally, when I view History the only link displayed is the page that I am on. To get to a previous page I must select "Earlier Today". I DO NOT have Private Viewing selected.
What gives? This is a primary feature. lacking it makes it very difficult to use the browser.
I am having problem updating to the latest Flash player version. It kept showing "close safari" Â after some research, i found out that my MacBook Air has no "enable Java" function.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf I have Safari open as a window on my desktop, it will generally 'resume' (as in, most of time remember what I had open) after shutting down and booting up again. However, if I have Safari open in full-screen mode (as I prefer to), it never remembers resumes upon shutting down and booting up again; Safari is open (the little light in dock shows up) as if to say OS remembered I had Safari open, but there is no window and upon opening a new window, none of my tabs are restored.Â

I selected the auto fill password function in Safari, which works maybe 50% of the time. I believe that I am pressing "update" when I choose a new password.

I can't seem to find a way to continue to sync my iPod Touch to my Mac without it automatically syncing over the iPod's Safari bookmarks to my Safari on the computer. I want to keep this bookmarks separate but every time it still wants to sync the Safari data on the iPod to the Safari data on the Mac.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently decided to make the jump to Snow Leopard and aside from a few side effects I was quickly able to fix I have come a across a rather annoying problem. I used to be able to press command(apple) F5 on my keyboard to raise my volume (and apple f4 to lower it). Now when I hit command F5 I get this voice over thing popping up and it's a quite frustrating. I am on a Macbook Pro and that was the key used to adjust volume prior to the upgrade. Now I learned that ctrl F5 works but I was wondering if and how I can return the function to command F5

I upgraded yesterday, and since then my key commands no longer work. If I restart, they will work for a little while, then suddenly stop working. I cannot take screen shots, or get Expose to work with F10, F12, etc. Apple-Tab doesn't bring up the applications currently open, etc. I've searched all over for this issue, but not finding anything. On a Macbook Pro, upgraded from Tiger.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis has stopped working for me. The volume and brightness keys have stopped working, regardless of what I set "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function key" to. I'd love to know how to restore the default function key behaviour.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just been trying to play Dark Knight in HD through iTunes and there is some lag, like the playback stutters (sound is fine, video stutters). How can I remedy this? Surely the Macbook is capable of playing HD without this lag? I've got a 2.4ghz Aluminum Macbook with 4GB RAM and I'm watching the movie on an LED Cinema Display. I was playing the movie through iTunes with no other programs on, and I'd just logged in to my account (although had not restarted the Notebook for several hours).

I have a unibody Macbook Pro and using windows 7 via bootcamp. The problem is that macbook doesn't have full windows keyboard and I need the right side "ctrl" key. Is there a way to create such kind of button?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis must get asked an awful lot, so I'm sorry if I'm continuing the trend. I would be grateful for some advice on connecting a MacBook Pro (the type I think is often described as 'aluminum unibody') to a high-definition monitor. After reading the various guides on MacRumors and elsewhere, I have been led to believe I need a Apple Mini DisplayPort and and HDMI to HDMI cable. To be consistent I have found them both on Amazon - I'd be grateful if someone could check these for compatibility and what-not. Apple Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter cable: [URL] HDMI to HDMI cable: [URL] if you think I'm being too cheap (they're both in pound sterling); I'm trying to get the cables cheaply, but obviously I want the two to work when they arrive. I don't know how easy it is to give advice on things like this, but let me know if more information is needed.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm looking at buying a MacBook Air. I'm interested to know how the MacBook Air handles high definition video. I realise there has already been a thread on this, but the existing thread is rather as confusing there appeared to be issues with the Transformers clip tested by many people, the configurations of MacBook Air were not listed with the results and since then, we have also had Mac OS X 10.5.2 released so I thought it might be nice to condense everyones results in an easy to read format:
Operating System Mac OS X 10.5.1 or 10.5.2
Storage: HDD or SSD
Processor: 1.6GHz or 1.8GHz
Trailer: Preferably something with fast motion.
Resolution: I mainly want to know about 1080p, but 1080i would also be interesting (I was told that 1080i does work, but further confirmation with the above details would be great).
Format H.264 or something else.
If any MacBook Air owners have the time to try a trailer or two off Apple's website Basically, the only reason I will buy the 1.8GHz processor is if it ensures successful playback of 1080p because the 1.6GHz drops too many frames.
Can my Aluminum macbook play High definition DVDs? Will it play them to their highest definition? I just wanted to make sure before I blow my money on some HD DVDS.
