View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had Snow Leopard for a while now but recently I realised that there was one feature I didn't seem to have....and that is put away. It just does not show in the right click menu on any of my items in my trash. Option clicking the file also does not show this menu.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just installed Safari 3.2.1 and find that I have no operable Back- Forward browse feature.
The buttons are there but always grayed out as if no previous page existed. Too, when I right click on a web page I no longer get "back" as a default. It comes up "reload" no matter where on the page I click. Finally, when I view History the only link displayed is the page that I am on. To get to a previous page I must select "Earlier Today". I DO NOT have Private Viewing selected.
What gives? This is a primary feature. lacking it makes it very difficult to use the browser.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have updated my macbook pro to Lion and begun the process (but not completed) of moving to icloud. There is no idisk icon in my system preferences and I can't find any information about where my idisk files are. I've logged in to me.com. I only get a series of icons relating to the new icloud. Also it defaults to find my phone which I find it difficult to get out of.

I cannot find the 'Put Back' command. I have inadvertently put a bunch of files into the trash bin that I need to restore.I've tried everything I could find through Goggle, and old threads here. Nothing applies to my computer because I can't find the 'Put Back' command. I need help with this one.

I deleted the download icon on the 'dock.' What's the process of putting the icon back there. I'm still receiving downloads, but it would be more intuitive for me to have the downloads icon visible.

I'm trying to install OS X Lion on my 27" iMac.I've erased the HD using Disc Tool in recovery.HD shows no errors.I've tried Internet Recovery (it loads up, but wont start the installation)I've tried creating a recovery usb on another similar iMac, and use it on this. Same error, only differance is it keeps "loading" when installing, but nothing happens. Same error in log. When I try to start the Reinstall I get an error in the installation log that goes something like this:
Install Mac OS X Lion[354:9c03] Couldn't find app store version, falling back to hardcoded Can not connect to /var/run/systemkeychaincheck.socket: No such file or directory Apple Care suggested: Trying another network (doesn't work).Install with the original Snow Leopard DVD first, then upgrade (can't do that, the DVD is lost and a DVD from another friend is not working) What can I do to get around this error?

What was the feature called in this photo and what version of the OS was it from? Was it Tiger?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm an idiot, pleased to meet you.I had 2 external drives connected to my Macbook Pro, both had time machine back ups on...I meant to delete one of these but deleted the wrong one, and dragged it into Trash. On realising my mistake I tried to drag it back out of Trash, as you would normally but after "preparing to copy" for four hours it told me the drive was full...It's a 500gb drive, and the Time Machine back up is the only thing on it, so presumably it's just trying to copy itself when the back up is still present on the drive, albeit in the Trash.

On this particular file there was no "put back" but when i do on another folder/ file there is. WTF?

View 5 Replies View Relatedi finally got my High Res Glossy MBP after 4 weeks of waiting...Everything works fine...and NO yellow tint issue...The only problem is 1 small dead pixel towards the bottom right of the screen...Will apple do an exchange on CTO machines with only 1 dead pixel? Is it even worth doing the exchange? After reading these forums i see that a lot of other users have been complaining about all types of problems...Yellow tint, wifi problems, over heating...etcshould I consider myself lucky? And just be happy that its only 1 small pixel?

View 24 Replies View RelatedWhat happened to the title bar roll-up/minimize feature in OS9? Right-clicking or double clicking the title bar in OS9 would result in the window rolling up, showing only the title bar. It's great for reducing screen clutter while still keeping the windows on the desktop (not hidden into the dock).
It's no longer in OS X 10.5. I loved that, so much that I even installed a MS Windows version of the same feature. Is there a program or hack to achieve this in Leopard?
Is it possible to add functionality to the Quickview feature in leopard so that I can view more image file formats like IFF, OpenEXF etc...? I assume it's linked to the Preview application so if that can view them then QuickView should be able to too?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure how it got turned on in the first place, but the voice over feature on my iMac is driving me crazy! It says something everytime I click something on my computer Here are the things I've tried:
1. ReBooting (hoping that it will reset itself somehow).
2. Went through the Voice Over Utility and tried to turn it off, but couldn't figure out how.
3. Someone told me to trash the Voice Over Utility so I did that, but it didn't fix it...
I'm running Mac OSX Tiger on a white intel iMac. Is there any way to turn off the voice over utility?

Yesterday, I had to re-format my external hard drive so that it could be "recordable" within Pro Tools, which wasn't a major issue, I just had to move everything from my Lacie drive to another drive, do the format, and then throw it all back on. It took a little while but this also included moving my nearly 60gb itunes library. Now that it is on the newly formatted hard drive, itunes doesn't seem to be able to find the majority of the songs any more. I've tried changing the music folder and a few other things, and there is no way I'm going through and doing the "cant find music - click here to find it" palava. Is anyone aware of a way that you can "mass find" all of the music in any way other than starting the library again and adding all the music (I don't really want to lose all of my play counts and ratings if possible!)
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen, oh when is Apple going to include a comprehensive merge feature in Pages. Yeah, I know we can merge Address Book fields into Pages docs, and that's cool and works flawlessly. But I've got literally 100s of WriteNow template docs and data docs that I created back in the mid-1980s to use in my estate planning practice - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care surrogates and tons of forms letters we use every day.
But the era of OS 9 applications like WriteNow and INControl which have been orphaned and un-supported for at least 12 years and Classic mode is soon to end. And here I am tied to the proverbial wagon wheel unless Apple completes Pages as a comprehensive office word processor by adding a full featured merge function. With the release of Bento, I thought it would be the companion data base for mergeable template documents in Pages, but I can haven't seen anything that looks like it. Please Apple, get on the stick and get a release of Pages out with a full featured merge function in it to save us long time, loyal Apple fans from the horror of having to use MS Word as a primary word processing application.
Audium, Safari and Mail usually fill some of my screen real state on my MBP.By the way, is it normal to be using the EXPOSE feature a lot?

Dose anyone know how to make safaris PB feature private ?
If you could add any 1 feature to os x, be it the way something looks or the way something operates or a completely new idea, what would it be? I have quite a few ideas but, keeping to the rule of 1 - Drag and drop to move the items in menus around.
