I cannot find the 'Put Back' command. I have inadvertently put a bunch of files into the trash bin that I need to restore.I've tried everything I could find through Goggle, and old threads here. Nothing applies to my computer because I can't find the 'Put Back' command. I need help with this one.
I want to have the value of the batch command find. I've written the following but it don't work. Perhaps I'm missign something. if [ find /Applications/Autonome/test.log = 0 ] ; then echo "file not found !"
I am familiar with CMD M combination to minimize screens. This is not doing the trick. I experience that I have to use this command several times as some programs just want minimize based on one command. It requires that one makes the programs active by clicking the cursor and than use cmd M again.
Is there yet another command that results in a an immediate desktop view.
I need to get a file from school through FTP, I'm using the terminal and when I use the get command it says it downloaded the file but I can't find it anywhere.
When calling the find command in finder (cmd-f), search criteria are by default set to Kind is Any. I'd like to add some, e.g. Sytem files are included (instead of having to do this manually in almost every search). Can't find anything on this in the net.
In Word 2004, when I press Cmd+F to open the "Find" window, and enter a search term, it highlights not just the first (as it has hitherto done) but ALL appearances of that term in the document, and takes me to the first one. If I then press "Enter," which would normally take me to the next occurrence of the term, it opens the footer! This strange behavior has just started
How can I disable the (Command + "Left or Right Arrow") Keystroke in Safari that navigates Back and Forward. If I could also disable the (delete) key from navigating back, I would be happy.
I edit text with these keystrokes all the time and now that I've upgraded to Lion and Safari 5.1.5 I run into problems with my workflow.
I just want (delete) to delete text and (Command + Arrow Key) to select a whole line of text.
i have my power saver set up so that the display goes to sleep after 30 minutes do i get it to wake back up without pressing the power button in the back?
I am a new itunes user and can use your help. I'm sure it is a simple solution.finding a way to eject a cd when there is no eject symbol showing in the usual place.
I have updated my macbook pro to Lion and begun the process (but not completed) of moving to icloud. There is no idisk icon in my system preferences and I can't find any information about where my idisk files are. I've logged in to me.com. I only get a series of icons relating to the new icloud. Also it defaults to find my phone which I find it difficult to get out of.
I use "Ctrl+Shift+Eject" to shut off my iMac screen (not shutdown) usually before I go to sleep, but recently, I've had to hit it 5 or 6 times before it actually turns off the screen. It also happens when putting the computer to sleep pressing "Option+Command+Eject".
I deleted the download icon on the 'dock.' What's the process of putting the icon back there. I'm still receiving downloads, but it would be more intuitive for me to have the downloads icon visible.
Using a mid 2007 IMac running lion 10.7.3. Both printers, HP laserjet p1606dn and Epson artisian 700 worked fine until I tried to setup airprint (couldn't figure that out). Now I can't print anything, not even a test page, from either printer. I receive a print error- "Unable to send printer command! Unsupported document-format "application/vnd.cups-command". I can scan from the Epson without a problem. I can run utility tasks, clean print heads, run print head alignment etc. But I can't print.
Got a new 27" iMac recently and am trying to set up Boot Camp. I partitioned the HD and then installed Windows XP. The installation went smoothly, and then the computer restarted. Only problem is the Windows XP system disc is still in the CD drive. Now the computer wants to boot from the CD and can't. I get a message that says, "Press any key to boot from CD. Disk error Press any key to restart", and I have no way to eject the disc. (There is no pin hole next to the CD slot that I can put a paperclip in to force it out.) I've tried restarting and then hitting Command + Option + O + F (found that advice at Apple's site). No joy. Apple support is closed for about the next three hours
I bought a 21.5 i3 iMac a couple days ago. I was wondering if it was normal for the computer to be hot to touch on the back. The top back on the iMac is insanely hot too touch. I also just installed windows 7 and I noticed after I ejected the CD it was super super super hot as well. Is this all normal for iMacs? Thanks for your help!
I'm trying to install OS X Lion on my 27" iMac.I've erased the HD using Disc Tool in recovery.HD shows no errors.I've tried Internet Recovery (it loads up, but wont start the installation)I've tried creating a recovery usb on another similar iMac, and use it on this. Same error, only differance is it keeps "loading" when installing, but nothing happens. Same error in log. When I try to start the Reinstall I get an error in the installation log that goes something like this:
Install Mac OS X Lion[354:9c03] Couldn't find app store version, falling back to hardcoded Can not connect to /var/run/systemkeychaincheck.socket: No such file or directory Apple Care suggested: Trying another network (doesn't work).Install with the original Snow Leopard DVD first, then upgrade (can't do that, the DVD is lost and a DVD from another friend is not working) What can I do to get around this error?
I am using a 500GB external HDD ( formatted in Mac OS Extended - Journaled ) to back up my iMac with SuperDuper , the backup only takes up a small amount of space on the external HDD , and the rest of the empty space is not used. I now would like to use the un used spare space on my external HDD to backup my sisters laptop which is running windows xp, is there any way I could do this with out loosing the iMac clone copy already on the external HDD.
I got a iMac on wednesday, everything's been great. Until now. It's been on all day (the problem maybe?) and it now sounds like a fan is catching? I put the fan speeds up to 2000 with smcFancontrol but after 20 secs it goes back down to 1500?
This morning I realized that I have no sound. Was away all weekend and know that I had to reboot my systems to get to the internet. How do I get my sound back?
So I took the hefty plunge and purchased the 27" i5 from a local Apple Retail Store, believing that Apple would have finally resolved the yellow-tint issue from over a year ago, or at least it would appear in much less iMacs as it has sorta died down on the forums.
Anyways, opened it last night, and continued copying over files to it today, only to notice that it has a slight yellow-tint issue towards the bottom 1/3 of display.
I've already made a genius bar appointment......I even purchased Apple Care on it, so the total was around 2.5k, and I'm hoping for them to allow a swap for another brand new unit? Is this likely, or will they just simply wave me off to a repair or refurb route. After dumping so much $ on it, and even purchasing Apple Care, I wouldn't be satisfied for anything but a straight exchange to a new unit.
Also, will they allow me to open it up right there and check to see that it doesn't have any display issues as well?
I almost dropped my wireless keyboard. I pressed some random buttons and a screen appeared like with all my TV Shows, Movies, Music, Etc. How do I get back to it? It looks cool. It's sort-of like Windows Media Center. It's not iTunes btw.
I press control + shift + eject on my new imac, and the screen turns off as promised. However, most of the time, actually, almost every time -- the screen comes back on after a second or two.
Just received my 27" iMac i7. I've noticed that every few hours I need to lift the screen up, because the weight of the screen pulls it downward on it's hinge.
Does anyone else have this issue? What do I do to resolve it?
I have an older iMac (MA589LL) that I recently upgraded to 4GB and Snow Leopard which is running beautifully. I do have an issue with it though, and it's been occurring for a while: Whenever the machine goes to sleep and I wake it up, the monitor turns on just fine but after about 5 seconds it goes back to sleep. I have to repeat this about 3 times and then it is fine. It's an annoying issue but not a deal breaker as I can just turn it off. I searched for sleep issues/turn off issues and have not found anything.
NOTE: Issue occurred before the upgrades. I've also tried resetting the PRAM and NVRAM. I have also used different keyboards/mouses.
