Sep 6, 2010Audium, Safari and Mail usually fill some of my screen real state on my MBP.By the way, is it normal to be using the EXPOSE feature a lot?

IMac :: Expose Feature - Chucks All Windows Out On Activation
May 18, 2010I have a 21.5 inch iMac and after using the expose feature for about 30 mins or so it acts strange. I normally use it through the 3rd 'squeeze' buttons on my mighty mouse but it happens with the expose button on the keyboard too. When I activate expose it chucks all the windows out but then brings them all back straight away where before it used to chuck em out n scatter them until I pressed it again. I tried changing the mouse and keyboard and did a software update too but no luck. The same thing happened in my previous 20inch aluminium iMac?!

Dec 23, 2008I have tap-to-click enabled, so there's 1 finger tap to click. There's 2 finger tap to right click. There's also 4 finger tap to select an app in the application switcher.But no 3 finger tap! It would work beautifully for me if bound to be a middle-click event. I cannot find ANY mention of this, anywhere. The only results I can find are mentions of the bootcamp XP issue with two-finger taps.So here's my question: Is there any way to expose a 3-finger tap as another event?

Apr 17, 2012I have 2011 mbp that i sometimes use with an external monitor, with the monitor being my only display (closed clam-shell mode). I encountered a problem where the hot corners do not work? for some reason only the upper left corner works on the external display. if i use hot corners on my laptop screen, all the corners work? (I am not sure if this is relevant to solving this issue, but I use a wireless mouse when i use my external display.)
How do i fix this so that all the corners work as hot corners in expose on my external monitor?

Jun 3, 2009Well after the initial update, i had some problems starting the system up and getting it to load properly, it took a couple tries, but since that was resolved, it hasn't done that again.
As of late though I've experienced 4 or 5 total system lock ups. Just today (5minutes ago) I was on safari and when i used expose to switch to msn it woudl not let me select anything and just stayed on the expose screen. I had to hold down my power button to resart, as even when i tried to do it from the button, it would not let me select anything. Also, after finally restarting the system, it now says that I have no bluetooth module connected to my computer. I never had any of these problems before the update. The system is also running noticeably hotter than before. I have not installed any programs or anything lately and Im pretty sure that my other software is not the problem, Im positive that its OSX that is doing this.

Nov 28, 2009I'm using a MacBook, the late 2008 aluminum edition. I'm running Snow Leopard and have updated to 10.6.2. For the last few weeks, I've been having a problem where my computer switches in and out of Expose view (where you can see all the windows open at once) and normal view, even when I haven't touched the trackpad or pressed F3 on the keyboard. Sometimes it switches back and forth very rapidly, other times, it just switches into Expose, and then I have to click back out of it, and as soon as I do, it enters Expose mode again. I don't have any hot corners enabled, and the problem occurs even when I turn off 4 finger swiping on the track pad. I can't find any information about this problem anywhere, and I don't know what could be causing it or what I can try to fix it

Aug 29, 2010I just bought a Macbook Pro 15" i7; the only problem I've had with it is this: every now and then my Expose/Space/Screen Corners stop working, and the only solution I can find is to just restart my computer (which thanks to the i7 is only about 20 seconds anyway ). Does anyone here have any advice on this?

Feb 3, 2008I glanced over the forums but didn't find any similar issues. Basically, Expose, Spotlight and spaces won't respond to any keyboard shortcuts (ie. Pressing F12 doesn't bring up the Dashboard, pressing Fn+F8, F9, F10 doesn't work, F11 won't hide all the windows, Command+Space bar won't invoke the Spotlight search bar, etc). what's really interesting about it is, all of these features are apparently working correctly (ie. Clicking directly on the Spotlight icon will bring up the search bar, using an active corner will perform its Expose function, etc).

Apr 15, 2010So, been playing with it and I don't know if it translates as well to the laptop world. I love when i use it on the iPhone but it feels a bit 'funky' using it on the trackpad. Maybe it's me, but it just doesn't feel quite right. I am going to give it some more time but I personally may be turning this feature off.

May 25, 2010In the recent glossy vs. AG discussions, I've not seen anyone else point out one of the coolest features of the silver anti-glare bezel: the laser drilled microholes for the camera light! IMHO, this is too-cool. A now-you-see-it, now-you-don't light which literally appears to come from solid aluminum. Incidentally, it's my opinion that the manufacture of this bezel - including the laser-drilling of these holes - explains a portion of the added $50 cost for the AG. It's a very-cool piece of manufacturing. This is similar to the power/sleep light on the main unibody, but if you look closely at the power light, you can see the holes when unlit. The camera light is absolutely invisible when off.

Jul 13, 2009I could be wrong, but I did not hear anything about Apple revising the Backlit Keyboard on their new MBPs that came out early June. Was this not made public for a reason or just small upgrade that needed no advertising? Or am I totally living on another planet and everyone knew about this? I checked one out for the first time today and.... now, there is a light sensor(next to the cam) to automatically turn the Backlit Keyboard off during daylight when you don't need it - to save battery life. it makes sense, but personally I want the option to always have it off to save battery, no matter the conditions around. I just found a reason to not want a 13" MBP over my uni MB New MBPs Users (June 09 or later) - is there customization with this new feature?

Nov 28, 2010recently I upgraded the HDD of my macbook pro 13"(2009) to a Hitachi 7200RPM 500GB(7K500), it generates clicking noise and the Load_Cycle_Count attribute increases too fast, which has a 600000 limit. I searched on the forum, and saw many people have the same problem, someone suggests LCC is not spin-up/spin-down but Start_Stop_Count is, which is NOT true for laptop, it is only true for desktop with Windows which do not care about power saving so the HDD seldom parks its head.
Today I went to my friends house who has a desktop PC which support SATA HDD, so I plugged my 2.5" HDD in straight away, and booted from Hitachi's Feature Tool(you can google it and find the address), then I was able to adjust the APM level. Here are two photos:
I made it 192, which is the lowest value within Active idle range as I usually use my MBP as a desktop replacement, so battery is not an issue.
Hope this can help people with Hitachi HDD who are annoyed by the clicking noise and worried about the shortened life of HDD.

Sep 2, 2009Is there a way to disable the �pinch open and close� feature on a MBP trackpad? I swear, it�s going to put me in therapy. Every time I need to scroll through massive spreadsheets for work, if my fingers separate by even a hair, the trackpad reads it as a pinch, then the document suddenly balloons to massive proportion or shrinks to infinitesimally tiny print. Seems there ought to be a simple way to turn the thing off, but for the life of me, I can�t find it.

OS X :: F7 Expose Key No Longer Functions?
Jan 29, 2009So this evening I finally upgraded my MacBook (1.83GHz, first generation) to Leopard. (I am not a luddite, but rather just really behind the times.) I had previously been using OS X 10.4.11, and upgraded via a retail OS X 10.5.4 installation disk (legally acquired).
Everything seemed to go swimmingly.
But then I noticed that my F7 key, which previously controlled the Expose "All windows" function (indeed, it is labeled as such), has stopped functioning properly. It no longer controls the Expose "All windows" function. That function is now handled by the F9 key.
I have consulted Google, and have tried a number of potential fixes. I've tried to reassign the key function(s) via both the Keyboard & Mouse pane and the Expose & Spaces pane in the System Preferences. No dice.

Mar 15, 2009I'm a new Mac owner (i know i can hear you grown lol) and sorry to ask such a boring question but I can't seem to get my Expose to work, i can get spaces to work just fine although not when using the nominated hot keys - it only works when i click on the icon in the dock. I can't see anything in this forum that really details every step of expose and I don't want to to play with that app too much in case i create an abomination that I don't know how to fix.

Apr 16, 2009Is it possible to configure USB Overdrive to access Dashboard and Expose using the middle mouse button and one of the thumb buttons?
The control panel has options for what actions to take when these buttons are pressed, but Dashboard/Expose are not among the choices. Trying to assign a keystroke to the buttons doesn't work either because when I try, the keys activate Dashboard or Expose rather than capturing the key in USB Overdrive's keystroke window.
