I don't know how this happened but my Skype program starts automatically on my machine and I don't want that. I looked in the program settings and I couldn't find any way to disable it from auto start.
View 2 RepliesIn a previous contact software program I have used for years, the first letter of names, streets, and cities, were automatically capitalized as I typed them in. Unfortunately, that software does not work under Lion and the developer is out of business. Because of that, I am trying to convert to Address Book. I can't find the ability to have that same thing happen in Address Book. Is there something I can turn on in Preferences or some other obscure window? My old contact software also automatically filled in cities, names, or states that I previously entered. Great time saver but doesn't seem to exist in Address Book.

When filling in online forms with my name and address, pressing tab auto completes my address & phone number, which saves me about 15 seconds of typing once every few weeks. However I recently moved and would like to update this feature to the new address. Does anybody know how I can do this?

In Firefox, I could start typing my usernames and it would automatically fill it in. How do I get Safari to do this? I don't want Safari to remember my passwords, just the usernames so I don't have to type them each time I log in.

However, along with mouse gestures, the thing that is really holding me back is that there doesn't seem to be auto-scrolling. The little icon that pops up when you press the middle mouse button and scrolls the page automatically. Is there really no auto-scroll or am I missing something?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using the encrypted image making for sensitive files, but I am looking for something as separate iOs (yes I know it's not the right subforum but since the mods in their infinite wisdom have split the software subforums...) or OS X software that will also allow for an autodestruct feature to be feasible after a set number of failed password attempts, because there is no use really of an encrypted image if one can run brute force ad infinitum. Sure non lexicografical passwords will fair better but how well it's anyone's guess.

When I search for something in the Google-toolbar in Safari (5.0.1), it does not autocomplete the words anymore. I'm guessing I turned the auto-complete feature off by accident. I have no idea how to turn it back on. I'm on 10.6.4

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just purchased a Netgear wireless router and have fallen at the first hurdle of trying to install the software. I have a MacBook 10.4.10.When I load up the CD I can see all the files the installation disk contains but the various autorun files ask me to specify the program I want to open them with. There's a help file for Mac users that recommends I install a Joliet Volume Access extension, but this is for Mac OS 7-9, as my version apparently already contains it, or something similar, that should allow me to run it immediately.

I am a new iTunes user. I don't want to use iTunes as my default CD ripper or player. In fact, I don't want iTunes to ever start up unless I click on its icon. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way of shutting off the auto-start after inserting a audio CD. The 'When you insert a CD:' drop-down menu only has a few options and 'take no action' is not among them. So, is there any way I can shut off auto-start for iTunes after inserting a CD? I'm currently running windows Vista 64bit.

One day about a week ago, out of no where, the mail application seemed to launch itself whenever I opened my laptop (resume from hibernate?). It is asking me for my name and email address to start setting it up. From there, I press cancel and the window disappears but the icon stays on the dock like its open and when I go to the Force Quit window it shows Mail as not responding and I have to force quit it. This doesnt happen every time but happens pretty often for seemingly no reason.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI really like the guest account feature that Leopard (and I'm assuming Snow Leopard) provides. I just got my first Macbook Pro, about a year old running Leopard, part of a client deal (you Mac people just got another application developer interested ). I am getting rid of a few of my other computers on craigslist in the coming weeks and my girlfriend always wants to check her facebook. I'd prefer not to have her accidentally close something important so I setup & configured the guest account. I installed the server admin tools to fully customize the dock/etc.
Two questions however:
1: Thus far the guest account cannot access HTTPS (secure sites) websites. Not in Safari or Google Chrome. I've tried googling for about 30 minutes and have come up blank.
2: Without overwriting the default profile setup (incase I ever want to create new profiles). Is there a way to set a few default things for the Guest user? For instance, I know it wipes everything on close. I want it to remember that Google Chrome & Safari have run before (annoying that it asks "do you want this to be the default browser?. Or running the initial safari video).
I heard that on Tiger Macs, You are able to upgrade the OS straight to Snow Leopard. But what concerns me is if I upgrade to Snow Leopard from Tiger...would I lose features from the Leopard OS?
Would it also take up more space since your installing another OS to get to Snow Leopard? i just wanted to get a few things straight before my snow leopard arrives in the mail =o
