I run CheckPoint Full Disk Encryption on my MBP 13. It normally has a status icon in the menu bar that I can right click on to get a status of the the program.
Well it is missing now however there is still a process being shown in the Activity Monitor, FDEStatusMenu, that is for that.
Is there anyway I could go into Terminal and restart that show it shows the icon? (There are no menu options to show it)
I just recently upgraded to SL and have a few issues. I am still kinda new to OSX even though I've had an iMac for a a few years. I mainly was using Windows 7 on Bootcamp, but now want to really get to know OSX.
First, in Leopard there were icons on the desktop for my MAC hard drive and my Windows hard drive. But after installing SL they aren't on there. I liked the idea of having them on the desktop for quick access. Can someone let me know how to get them back on the desktop?
Second I have a Razer DeathAdder mouse I use. I have the latest OSX drivers installed. This problem I've had with Leopard and Snow Leopard is that even though I've set the tracking speed under System Preferences, after rebooting the tracking goes all the way back to down the the lowest setting. I've tried setting it in the DeathAdder's software and in the regular preferences in OSX but after reboot it always goes back down. It is annoying cause it tracks way to slow and I have to manually up it a few notches whenever I boot up.
my "services" menu has disappeared as an option in finder. When I try to access it by right-clicking a finder item (folder or file), it's just plain missing. However if I look for it under the finder menu bar, the arrow beside service says 'building'. But I've been waiting for hours and it doesn't look like anything's happening.

Just today it began that when I try and open iChat from the Menu Bar icon, the whole right side of the menu bar reboots. Anyone else experienced this or have an idea of steps I can take to fix it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOver the last few days I've noticed a problem with missing icons. It seems to mainly effect icons in the Trash but I have one or two missing icons for videos and apps within the Finder and on the Desktop. The icon is completely gone - I have to click on the filename to select it. Quicklook works OK (for video).
I can't think of anything I've installed that would have done it except Onyx, but I haven't run that in weeks. I did repair permissions a few days ago but I doubt that could break this. It persists after a reboot. I can't get it to happen on command, it just randomly occurs. Creating a New Folder always works OK.
far the first thing that I have noticed that is buggy is that all my menu bar items are missing. Spotlight appears for two seconds then disappears. I have tried enabling everything in system preferences but when I go into some of the preferences it freezes up. I have also removed all third party apps from the menu bar. I am currently doing a Disk Permission check and repair if needed but this has me thinking this is not going to be a smooth transition like it was from Tiger to Leopard.

Now for some reason the Eject icon is on the far right where Spotlight should be. Also the keyboard shortcut is not working. To do a search I have to now go to the finder and hit Command-F. So I thought to myself I'll try it out. So I followed the tutorial to where the last step I did was to restart the computer. When I launch an application then the menubar shows up. When I close the application no menubar. Also, when I option+right-click on the Finder icon in the Dock there is no option to relaunch Finder. If I force a shutdown and restart, everything comes up normally. This doesn't happen every time I restart, but it has started only recently. I've repaired permissions already.

I was trying to install some services that I created using applescripts and ThisService. The problem I'm having is that Services is not available in the menu when I right click on a folder or file. Looking under Keyboard in the system preferences, I can see all of the different services that are availible. I have the ones I'd like to use checked but no services appear in the menu when I right click. I've tried resetting defaults in the preferences, logging in and out, restarting and nothing helps. I found another post that said open terminal and run this /System/Library/CoreServices/pbs. When I enter that in the terminal, I get this message "No languages specified - assuming English" and nothing changes. I'm running 10.6.8 and I know that Services used to be avalible in the menu.

Just recently purchased at Thunderbolt hard drive enclosure (Akitio Thunder2 Quad enclosure) and the error happened while renaming files on the Thunderbolt drive. Now the rename feature is missing from all drives.

The text in my menu bar has disappeared if I hover over the space where it used top be the dropdown menus appear but no header text is visible in the menu bar, this is the same in Safari every thing works the as before.

Also, the finder always starts up in simple mode. If I switch to full finder, I still do not have any shutdown or restart.

Some time ago I started using Pathfinder and after some time my HDD icon disappeared. I didn't make much out of it then, but now I'm tired of Pathfinder and I want everything back to normal.
My HDD icon, CD's and external volumes that I connect doesn't show. Not screenshots either, or other types of files.
As you can see there is nothing in the upper right corner.
What I've tried:
A Apple-guide where I install Xcode--->Run some sudo command in Terminal--->Reboot, but it didn't work.
Tried to find my HDD in Finder and drag it onto the desktop, but no success.
Opened Pathfinder again and went to "/volumes" and found out that the volumes folder was hidden. I "unhid" it, reboot, but still the same.
When I upgraded to 10.5.2 a .Mac icon was placed in the menu bar. I don't use .Mac so I'd like to get rid of it but I can't figure out how. Every other icon in the menu bar can be removed/changed via System Preferences except for the .Mac one as far as I can tell.

I removed it under system preferences at the bottom but I cannot seem to get rid of the icon on the menu bar. I cannot drag it out and am stumped at what to do. What does it mean when an icon "goes missing from the desktop" for a file. The name of the file is still there, but the icon itself has gone "invisible."
I am including a screen shot. A short while ago you would have been able to see a folder icon above the name. Now you only see the desktop background.
I am a total noob. Somehow, my disk drive icon has gone missing. How do I go about getting it back on my desktop? I looked in the trash and its not there. View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I changed my menu bar to black and replaced the menu bar icons but now for some reason my airport menu bar icon does not show up anymore. I'm not sure if the aiport.menu was fully copied for it to work since when I tried copying the icons, all of them copied except the airport.menu because I got a message saying "Cannot copy because it is in use". So I deleted the file and copied the new one. So then I check on System Preferences > Network and check where it says "show airport status in menu bar" but it doesn't let me click on apply, it's greyed out. So when i exit System Preferences and go back, it's unchecked again.

I didn't change any settings or install anything new recently and I just want to get it off of there. When clicked the option it gives is grayed-out "Bluetooth: Not Available". Does anyone know how I can get this icon off of there?
