Oct 2, 2010Any movie that I play that was burned in iDVD starts playing the movie from the beginning. What do i have to do in iDVD to get the movie to start at the menu?

Sep 26, 2009I want my DVDs to auto start with the main menu when inserted into a DVD player.Do I do this by going to the "MAP" in iDVD, clicking on the MAIN MENU, doing a "CMD i", and ticking both "Intro" and "Outro" under the "Background" heading?

Mar 3, 2009I created a movie using IDVD, only I apparently don't have the kind of drive needed to burn dvds, so my questions (which is probably a stupid one) is how do I put it onto a dvd? I know there are external burners, but I rather not buy one. Are there any types of services that do that? I know there are ones for tapes to dvds, but this is already on my computer.. Can I save it and do it through a pc? Would I have to convert the file?

May 2, 2009I'm trying to make a disk in iDVD taking video from iMovie 9. No matter what I do the disk skips the opening menu and begins auto-play. It isn't looping because after one pass it goes back to what should be the Main Menu.
I've gone through the help screens and tried to un-do what it seems I ought to have done to make this happen on purpose.

Nov 24, 2009Is this possible? One of the apple techs told me no. I would have to change the menu to 4:3. I have 20 year old videos that I want to play in 4:3 because anytime it stretches the top gets cut down pretty bad. Yet I would love to keep the 16:9 menu screen (theme).
Another question what is best resolution to use when sending old movies (4:3 poor quality) from iMovie to iDVD? Medium? or Large?
What sucks is when I preview my video in iDVD everything looks right. Menu is 16:9 and when it plays the videos it's 4:3 ( for some reason with grey sidebars instead of black). It's just when I burn it to dvd and play on home widescreen tvs when the problems start. The menu is chopped off on a side and the videos are being stretched.

In iMovie I have taken the first cassette and did my montage the way I want it. Now, I want to export this movie (as a single file if possible) so that when I will have a few of them, I will use iDVD to do DVD menus and add all my movies.

Jan 31, 2010I've searched and I still cannot find a free program that will let me burn a movie to a DVD. I used handbrake to bring the video file down to 4.5 GB. I'm trying to put it on a 4.7 GB disc and iDVD still won't let me because it says it is too big! I've been tinkering with iDVD and it's making me crazy. There must be a way to just burn it. I don't need a menu. Keep in mind that I want to be able to watch it on a dvd player (as opposed to just transferring the file). Just an FYI, the video file is 3 hours and 28 mins. It can be .mkv or .mp4 (through handbrake).

Nov 1, 2009I have two questions/issues with iDVD. I'm a bit of a beginner when it comes to iDVD but I have checked all over the internet for the answers.
First I am using the soft frame theme and I am using all three drop zones with video filling them. When I play back the dvd in the dvd preview the video plays very choppy. It is almost frame by frame. The effects of the menu are also slow (in fact the whole preview of the dvd seems to be slow).
My second problem is that when adding background music the dvd takes the whole length of the song to loop, and in the short time is takes someone to choose a button the first drop zone is still looping.

May 2, 2010I've attempted to reconstruct an old black and white film from parts off YouTube in iMovie, which has worked fine. The scenes fit together seamlessly and the subtitles are easily legible.
The problem, however, is that once I burn this via iDVD and play it on my TV, the heads of the actors are cut off at the top of the screen and the subtitles are cut off/cut in half at the bottom of the screen.
I've tried everything I can think of to correct this so that everything fits as you would expect on the screen, but so far to no avail.

The thing I hate about iDVD (besides it taking so long to burn video DVDs on Mac) is that the themes are more than I need and take up valuable disc space.
1. Are there any iDVD themes that are simply a menu...no music, no video clip previews, no sappy backgrounds, etc?
2. Is there a free (or cheap) alternative to iDVD excluding Toast?
3. I'd be using .mov or .mp4 as my source video.
4. I have iDVD 7.0.4 and am using Snow Leopard. I really don't want to pay for iLife 11 as I never use Garage Band or iPhoto. iMovie kinda sucks too.

So I bought an external hard drive and backed up my mac using Time Machine. Now I want to delete everything off my mac's internal Hard Drive and use my external hard drive so I can empty my disk. Apr 24, 2012I just rent a movie via iTunes. It said the movie was ready to be played although it is still downloading so I wanted to start playing. My Problem is, that the movie does not start. It is stuck on a black screen. If I move the slider on bottom I can see pictures of parts of the movie that have already been loaded. But I cannot start playing them as a film.
Same thing with Trailers in the Store. iTunes was updated yesterday and also Quicktime is up to date and I also tried the repair function of it. Running Win 7 Professional, 64 bit. Because the rental period now expires in 48 hours (because I clicked on "play movie"). As a "workaround" I tried to play the Movie on my MacBook Pro but it says the rented film is now been authorised to my PC.

Aug 20, 2010I run CheckPoint Full Disk Encryption on my MBP 13. It normally has a status icon in the menu bar that I can right click on to get a status of the the program.
Well it is missing now however there is still a process being shown in the Activity Monitor, FDEStatusMenu, that is for that.
Is there anyway I could go into Terminal and restart that show it shows the icon? (There are no menu options to show it)

Feb 7, 2009When my Mac boots it opens load of apps in my menu bar (InsomniaX, iAlertU, LogMeIn, EverNote) this is annoying, uses memory (probably) and it makes it look cluttered how do i stop them from loading.
I have checked the preferences in each app and there is nothing there and there is nothing in Login items in accounts in system prefs.

We do not want to hover around my laptop to watch a movie In about 90% of these iDVD created DVDs I get an error message from iDVD that there was a problem during encoding and if we try to watch them throgh the TV/DVD player then the film just stops about 75% of the way through.

Jun 21, 2005I have iMovie 2.1.2 on a Mac G4 with a superdrive burner. I've captured video from my mini-dv camcorder and now I want to put it on DVD to be played on any DVD player.
I've tried a few of the "expert" settings to export it, but none do the trick as far as producing playable DVD's. I have toast titanium 5 and I don't have Quicktime Pro. I also do not have iDVD.
I have Final Cut Pro on this computer, but have no idea how to use it.
Is there a simple way to to export directly from iMovie onto a playable DVD, or do I need something else?
