OS X :: Safari Not Caching My Website
Mar 8, 2009I don't know what it is [URL]. For some reason, Safari won't cache any of the images. It works fine in Firefox. Most other sites seem to cache fine. What the heck is going on?

View 3 RepliesOur new Lion Server has a static IP Address pointed to over the internet by our registrar's zone file. Planning the Lion Server installation process with the intent of hosting Web, Mail and Open Directory services to a small number of users who are nearly all located off-site. I do also want Lion Server to be a caching DNS Server and DHCP authority on the local network to replace what dnsmasq does on our current Linux server.
I am looking forward to offloading some of the lower level Linux administration tasks and putting myself in the hands of the Lion Server Setup Assistant and Server App :-) but at the same time don't understand some of its assumptions and fear having to spend a lot of time experimenting and re-installing.
So, specifically, I want the Server App to know that my Lion Server has a "Host Name for the Internet" but that the DNS it sets up will not be the DNS for my zone - I will be managing that through my registrar's interfaces.
Second problem is my fnot understanding what name space devices on the local network will / should use. e.g. The Linux server will be available for backups etc on the local intranet (and optionally have a static ip address on the Internet) but MacBooks, PCs, iPads and iPhones will be served ip addresses by the Lion Server's DHCP. So will / should these dynamic devices have their machine names fully qualified by our domain name with RFC 1918 style ip addresses or something like .local? How do I tell this to Lion's Server App / Setup Assistant? How easy is it to update these initial settings later?
How to disable hard disk write caching?
Is there something similar to Windows: [URL] ...
I have a Windows Desktop PC, Windows Laptop and an iMac plus Macbook Pro, on the desktop pc Safari will not open [URL], yet on my Windows Laptop it will! Both are the same version of Safari, I have uninstalled and re installed Safari with no joy.
Does anyone know how to do a clean uninstall of Safari on Windows, because I think that may solve it.

A site that I visit regularly has recently started giving me an error whenever I try to access it. I can get there just fine using the latest Firefox. I've tried emptying the cache and resetting Safari to no avail.
I actually just purchased a mac this X'mas.. when I open Safari, there is this address I just can't get rid of [URL]
I have tried to change home page, remove cookies, and run anti virus. NO luck.
And it gets worse.
If I go to facebook, Safari just shut down so fast.
Today, i've been searching about the history of computer viruses and i found a website that made Safari 3.2.1 freeze with an infinite beach ball so i had to force quit it. My Safari has AdBlock enabled and for security reasons i deleted all my cookies.
Here's the website image: [URL]
This is my first post, thanks in advance for any help. Hope I can explain correctly. I don't think my site [URL]actually ever had malware. I (not knowing better) placed a small *.exe file on my site via ftp just to transfer it from home to work. Anyway I think it caused me to get listed with google as having malware etc. (even though it was no type of dangerous file). I registered with googles webmaster tools, deleted it off my site and requested they re-scan it. Well that seams to have worked and all is fine except with Safari. I am still getting the malware notice with Safari only. I have cleared history, emptied the cache, deleted cookies and reset safari. Still getting the message. Sometimes I can open the site fine then click home and it pops up again. I really think my site is completely fine but I cant figure out why its still doing this with Safari. Needless to say this is terrible for business.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSafari (version 5.4.1 and earlier) cannot open the blog on the website[URL]. The webmaster tells me he uses Wordpress for that blog. Is this a known Safari problem (Firefox and Opera open the blog) and if so is there a solution to correct this ? I use an iMac running on Lion.

After the Safari 5.1.4 update, I'm unable to access one particular site, the one that used to be my homepage. Trying to access it causes the browser and OS to freeze up for several minutes. Can't force quit or close. I'm able to access my other 'regular' sites.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI designed a website that has narration tracks on 23 pages. I used a simple "PlaySound" plugin imbeded in each page. It works just fine in Firefox and Chrome and used to work fine in Safari until I upgraded Safari. Now, in Safari, the narration starts and stops after 4-6 words are spoken on most pages. Some pages will play the entire piece after it pauses for a moment (after 4-6 words) and then continues. I reinstalled Safari and the same thing still happens.

just eagerly downloaded the update which supposedly fixed the problem with the "remove website data" from the Safari privacy pane, the one that doesn't work, right, well, it's just the same as it ever was, cookies popping up all over the place, even after deletion. Again, I do not wish to trawl my computer looking for plists or prefs to delete, I just want the "remove all website data" button to work. Any others still experiencing this or is it just me? Has anyone found an answer to this yet?Â

I have a web-site and when I change it safari on the macbook will continue to show an old version of the site. (the site is updated, as safari on my ipad does show the recent version).Â
I have refreshed; no change I have emptied the cache; no change I have reset safari; no change.Â

I have searched high and low for an answer to this! My website's icon shows in every other browser except for Safari.Â
I have "reset" Safari, tried a variety of different "paths" to my favicon.ico in my header.php file, blah blah blah and NOTHING works!Â
When using Safari I have begun to notice this box appearing as I try to reach any website: "Safari is no longer responding because of a script on the webpage and then it lists what ever web page I have tried to reach. It then asks me if I want to "stop" the script or allow it to continue. I must "continue" it in order to reach my web page/ If I press "stop" it just keeps coming back and back and I can't continue. What is wrong with my computer or Sarari or both?

I have a very simple website I update and publish using iWeb. The changes can then be seen immediately if I go look with Chrome or Firefox, but Safari insists on seeing the older website, before updates.Â
I have tried clearing the cache, resetting Safari, clearing history, erasing cookies and content, nothing works.
