OS X Mountain Lion :: How To Keep Archive Of All Email In Apple Mail On Computer For One Year

Jun 21, 2014

I operate a small business, and need to keep an archive of all email on my computer for at least one year (not on the cloud, as I live on a small island and our internet service is sporadic). I prefer to manually delete all email after 12 or 13 months. It seems like Apple Mail no longer allows this?

I have a Macbook that is about 4 years old.  The charger doesn't connect and charge properly - It works if I hold it on the computer.  My question is - how can I tell if I need a new charger or if it is the charging dock in the computer.  The magnetic connection does not seem to be clicking in the way it is suppose to.  Any one else have experience with this who can offer some ideas?

OS X Mountain Lion :: Cannot Send Email With Mail App

Sep 1, 2014

Up until today my MAIL app in my iMac let me use an email address that is from the AOL.com group (netscape.net)…I cannot send emails now because I can't get the computer to connect to the server. My iPad will….but not the desktop. I tried using a different server name; smtp.nestcape.net, which is the one I used in the iPad…but the iMac won't let me change it to that one..so back to the old smtp.aol.com……Still my MAIL app is not recognizing this or letting me connect!?!. I tried creating a new password at the wedpage of that email account.. successfully..but it has made no difference. I am stumped and have wasted half the day trying to deal with this.

OS X Mountain Lion :: How To Send Email With Mac Mail (6.6)

Sep 1, 2014

I cannot send mail from my iMac today even though I was able to do it yesterday. I am on Mountain Lion. The Connection Doctor says that one of the SMTP servers of all those I have used in the past is connected. (The "light" is green.) I suspect there is something wrong in the Mail Preferences, but I don't know where to start to fix this problem. When I tried troubleshooting a related mail problem a few weeks ago, I received an error message saying that more than one account was attached to that SMTP server. Where I should start?

OS X Mountain Lion :: Email Not Sending Out On Mail Version 7.3 - 10.9.3

Jun 5, 2014

Outgoing e-mails not going.  Problem developed yesterday but has occurred now and then since I upgraded from Snow Leopard to 10.9.3.  In the past the problem has mysteriously solved itself after a few days.  I would like to know what causes it and how to solve it right away.

Incoming emails arrive all right.

My provider, Suddenlink recommended changing my outgoing server but that made no difference, so I have gone back to the settings that do work most of the time.

When I went to Suddenlink's web address   (www.suddenlink.net) and opened my e-mail account there, I could send and receive, but I would like to work with Mail rather with Suddenlink's POP.

OS X Mountain Lion :: On Startup Mail Doesn't Show All Email

Jun 26, 2014

I am using Apple Mail on my Mid 2010 iMac (27", 3.6 GHz i5, 12 Gig RAM, 10.8.5)  and have recently run into a bit of strangeness. I shut down the iMac every evening, without shutting down Mail. Mail opens on startup, as expected. However, my list of emails is not current, with the latest email from about 1AM that morning. I know this is the case because I see many more recent emails on my iPhone. When I quit Mail and restart it, all the emails show up. How I can get Mail back to its old behavior, namely showing me all emails in my inbox on startup?

OS X Mountain Lion :: Mail Not Restoring Email From Time Machine?

Aug 26, 2014

restoring email from my Time Machine backup.

It's an IMAP account, and someone accessed the email from an iPad - almost the entire inbox was emptied.

I have TM running and I have restored the INBOX.mbox file to the finder just in case. And here are the steps I have followed: Tried to restore all the emails into the inbox in question through TimeMachine in Mail.Tried to restore the entire INBOX through TimeMachine in Mail.Tried to restore email via importing the recovered folder.Tried to do a test import of 1 email through TimeMachine in Mail.

All failed.

The sent items are still OK and present, and the account is in active use, so if I could just restore the inbox emails that would be the best.

I understand that when they are restored they will need to upload to the server and populate there, but 2 hours should definitely be enough and there is no visible activity in my mail to indicate that is happening.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Download And Archive Email?

Jul 2, 2012

I wonder how others handle 'server overload'? After many years I have a lot of IMAP email on the remote server, and the data charges are getting high. I see that one can 'export' a mailbox, but I am not sure that does what I want, which is to take old messages from the server after a certain date (1.1.2012, say), leaving them locally available, but no longer on the server. How is this being addressed by other users?

OS X Mavericks :: Apple Mail Search Not Searching Gmail Archive?

Aug 28, 2014

I recently got a new iMac and backed up from Time Machine.  Everything is fine apart from Apple Mail, which no longer searches my Gmail archive.  The archive is still there, all 33,000 messages, but just not searchable.

So, for example, if I got an email from a guy called George a month ago, when I search 'George' nothing comes up.  I can manually go to the Archive and find the email but obviously that takes a lot of time.

Is this an Apple issue or a Gmail issue?  Given that I run the same account on my laptop and it's all working fine, plus it was working fine before, I would assume it;s an Apple fault.

Mac Mini :: Add Zimbra Email To Apple Mail In Lion?

May 16, 2012

Have a Zimbra server at work for my work emails which I also use to recieve my emails on my Iphone. I have been trying to set up for email for our Zimbra server at work on my new Mac Mini's mail. I have server address, User Name, Password, and have tried all the various ways to set it up. On my Iphone 4 it is set up in the mail config as an exchange. I tried to copy the settings my iphone uses and imput them into the mail setup. Every time I have tried POP, IMAP, Exchange I get a message that it cannot connect to the server and I should check my connection to the internet. I kinda had a similar problem setting it up on my Iphone initially. I am starting to think that Apple is lacking when it comes to its native mail app. It has no problem registering my google email but for some unknown reason it wont take my work email through exchange.

OS X Mavericks :: How To Avoid Messages Going Automatically To Archive Folder In Apple Mail

Sep 1, 2014

I've been using Apple Mail (version 7.3 (1878.6)) on my MacBook Pro 13" (9,2) (MacOS 10.9.4) for years to integrate my GMail, university, and other e-mail accounts in the imap mode. Since some weeks, Mail is behaving odd: some messages are sent automatically to the archive folder. That's quite annoying, as I have to move them manually back to the inbox folder, and sometimes I mess some messages. I did not change any config in Apple Mail or my e-mails servers.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Apple Mail Sending Multiple Copies Of Email

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Apple Mail Sends Out Emails When Turned On Adress Book Creates Groups Of Email Addresses?

May 4, 2012

I have had this issue with my address book for a while in that it creates new entries with just an email address as the actual entry and then hundreds of other email addresses from address book as this entry's additional email addresses.

At the same time I had an issue with Apple Mail that I thought was unrelated but now I am not that sure anymore. When I turn Apple Mail on, it sends out emails that look like an endless chain of responses (spam) to the same email that advertises  all kinds of stuff.

When I first noticed the issue I turned Mail off (a year ago). After updating to Lion I tried to use mail again but had the same issue and have not been using it since. But I appear to still find new entries in my address book all the time.

I ran some software (ClamX) but wasn't able to find any malware so far. I can't imagine someone hacking into my machine and doing all this my hand. For what?

So I am wondering whether anyone has had similar symptoms on their Mac?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mail Threading From Gmail Archive?

Jun 6, 2012

I've recently noticed that conversations that I've archived in a gmail acount are no longer being included when viewing a thread (conversation). If multiple messages from a conversation are in the inbox, they are included. If a message has been "deleted" (archived in the gmail account) it is not included in the conversation. I may be crazy but I seem to remember this not being the case earlier.

Since the gmail account is accessed using exchange, the "All Mail" folder (where archived messages are stored) is accessable.

OS X Mountain Lion :: How To Print Single Email From A Conversation

Jun 3, 2014

When I view a received e-mail in Mail, it appears as part of a conversation. I want to be able to print single e-mails. In the View menu, 'Organize by Conversation' is checked by default. If I select an e-mail in my inbox, it appears on screen as part of the conversation, but with a gap between individual e-mails*. if I select the particular e-mail in the conversation that I want and go to Print, it prints the whole conversation. If I uncheck 'Organize by Conversation' and select an e-mail in the inbox, it again appears on screen as a part of the conversation, but without a gap between individual e-mails* and if I print, it still prints the whole conversation. * This, too, seems perverse. I would have thought that with 'Organize by Conversation' checked, the conversation should appear onscreen as continuous, whereas it appears with gaps, and, conversely, with 'Organize by Conversation' unchecked it should appear with gaps, whereas in fact it appears without gaps. I then found this:[URL]  But nothing seems to work. I tried changing the 'View' setting in Preferences, I tried all the Expand and Collapse options in the View menu and all other options in the View menu, but the printing behaviour remains the same.  The only method I have found for printing just part of a conversation is by selecting its text, pasting it into a text document and printing that.
