Why does the date column show time? In the Date Added column it shows the actual time it was added. I don't want to see this. Is there a way to remove it?

No sign, look: Yet, in stacks it's one of the 5 choice views? Am I missing something very obvious, or is this not (one of) the biggest oversights 'ever', on Apple's part?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMaybe I really don't know what I'm doing. On my regular finder I can have a list and manipulate the order. (i.e. change the order from the oldest to the most recent. Or even largest to smallest files) This is normal to me. What I don't understand is that when I create a search, I don't have that option to adjust the order of the date created, size, etc. When I try to adjust the options view in the search, it will not allow me to.

But, I also like the "Date Modified" option List View has. Can I have both?
I've recently switched from using Outlook 2007 on Fusion on my MacBook Pro to the native apps in OSX, to try to move away from having to run Windows on my machine. I decided against using Entourage as I have experienced a lot of problems with crashing and slow speeds with my Exchange server email. I'm really happy using Mail/Address Book/iCal now I have tweaked it all a bit. I've visited the Hawkwings site to download a bunch of useful Mail plug ins, and have converted to 3 pane viewing.
I would dearly love for the emails to be grouped by date, as they are in Outlook, to avoid the unbroken list of emails that I currently have. I have experimented with Smart mailboxes and rules to colour the emails so I can differentiate between received dates, but find these arrangements either impractical or fussy to look at. I receive so many emails all day, I'd really like to have an easy-view layout. The ONLY thing I miss from Outlook. Is there a plug in or similar that would create this for me?
The date in the menu bar is correct but Incorrect date Shown on Migrated Files. I bought an iMac running Leopard last 22 November and migrated all my files from my old eMac. Subsequently all my email messages have been dated 22 November 2008. Other timed events have the same date. And now that I've bought a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard and migrated files from the iMac, the same thing has happened. So, operating Time Machine for the very first time yesterday on the iMac, it displays the backup date as 22 November 2008.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am fairly new to the world of mac's and I'm having a problems with my photo's. On my old windows PC I have 1000's of photo's. When I right click on a photo in windows and go to 'details' it will tell me the exact date and time when it was taken. So if I then import them into some library software such as picasa, it sorts it them all out by this date. However, I've now copied all my photo's to my new imac and the 'date taken' field doesn't seem to be there. When I import them into iphoto or picasa etc, they are totally messed up and all over the place.
Why did OSX loose that data? I will try to explain a little better using screenshots. This screenshot is from windows: [URL]. At the top is says 'date taken' and any windows photo library software will sort it by this date. Below are the properties of the same file after it's copied to osx: [URL]. It contains lots of information about the picture but not when it was taken. So software such as iphoto or picasa sorts it by it's created date (which you can see at the top is Monday 12th January). Why isn't OSX carrying over the exif data on when the photo was taken?
I operate a small business, and need to keep an archive of all email on my computer for at least one year (not on the cloud, as I live on a small island and our internet service is sporadic). I prefer to manually delete all email after 12 or 13 months. It seems like Apple Mail no longer allows this?

The clock symbol is displayed next to the .mac account name in mail and even when i put the .mac account offline it keeps trying to download showing the ticking wheeling symbol or whatever it is called. Also when mail is open all other programmes run super slow and half the time safari does not work at all saying the system is not connected to the internet.
I have tried several times to send an email with a link to a tumblr blog and it is not being received by the recipients. It is in my sent items and I have not received a notification to say it has not been sent. If I send the same email without the hyperlink they recieve it. What is stopping this email from being sent properly and why am I not receiving a notification to say otherwise.

I searched on this topic and just find old references to "Address Book" which i guess does not exist anymore.
I have an Excel worksheet of about 200 names, street addresses, and email addresses, one contact in each row. One column is the email addresses, which is all I want. If I could get the names too that would be nice.
I try the Contacts import command, but cannot import the section of the worksheet I want. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I highlight the contacts column in the worksheet and go to the file with the Contacts import command and find it is "dimmed" -- I cannot click on it.

When I want to save a file that somebody has attached to an email, I open the file - but I can only save a version (which I presume saves it back to the email). So I create a duplicate, and choose Save. In Save all I can see of my documents are the most recently used folders - and I can't see any subfolders. Frequently the folder that I want to save in isn't shown - and I can't find any way of revealing it. And if it is shown, I can't see any of the sub folders - so I have to go through the performance of saving it in one place and then opening the folders in Finder and moving it around - a ridiculously long winded task.
