I've been having a lot of fun with Preview's signature scanner, and was wondering if it's at all possible to make this kind of signature a default signature in Mail.

I've created several signatures in Apple Mail Preferences to be used randomly and to appear beneath the text or image in an outgoing email. I've left the box empty next to "Place signature above quoted text." Process works OK with text, however, when sending a photo, the signature continually appears above the image. Is there some way to have the signature always appear at the end of the email when sending images or photos?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I am copying a signature I create in a mail into the Signatures database, It doesn't seem to save as it was built...sometimes it removes/adds carriage returns. Other times it won't copy the graphics with the text. Is there a way to make sure it stays as I create or edit it?

I am preparing to upgrade to Mavericks. I want to put a bootable copy of Mountain Lion on an external hard drive so that I may run apps that aren't yet compatible with Mavericks.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to know if apple mail is supposed to sync both signatures and rules across devices.
I recently had to create 3 signatures on 3 separate devices and am now realizing that rules don't carry over from my iMac to my MBA or MBP.
if they're not supposed to sync (which makes absolutely no sense) hopefully apple will fix this in yosemite.
finally, i will say that, while being a huge apple fan (and would never switch to a pc), i've seen apple mail become one of those neglected softwares and have steadily gone on the decline in terms of features and consistency among devices that are supposed to communicate to one another.
All my devices are using osX 10.9.3
I am trying to change the font size in Apple mail but it won't change from 12 to 13....?

I recently got an IMAC and began using the OS-X mail program. AFter sending an email, i looked for it in the "sent folder" and did not see anything. Does the program save sent emails in that folder?

I operate a small business, and need to keep an archive of all email on my computer for at least one year (not on the cloud, as I live on a small island and our internet service is sporadic). I prefer to manually delete all email after 12 or 13 months. It seems like Apple Mail no longer allows this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMail no longer adds a signature to a new email after years of working satisfactorily. When I create a new email the default signature does not appear. The Signature button shows 'None.'When I click the button and select 'Edit Signatures' the normal list shows up and I can select the desired signature and the 'Chose Signature' button has the desired signature. I then close the edit signatures window (clicking the red button) although no save dialogue shows up. Then click to start a new email and still no signature and the Signature button has reverted to None again. If I go to Preferences and select the Signatures panel, the 'All Signatures' is alreday highlighted (not my normal business sub group) and the 'Choose Signature' list at the bottom of the panel has reverted to None.

I can't copy a Time Machine backup file (Backups.backupb) from one external hard drive to another. Both hard drives are Seagate 1TB Backup Plus. The Backups.backupb file is about 275GB. When I try to drag and drop the Backups.backupb file from one drive to the other (which I've tried three times) it to begins copy but after about 3GBs are copied I get a message that says "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)."
I formatted (erased) the new hard drive with Disk Utility as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Apple Support says I should format the new drive in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) "with a GUID partition," but I don't see the GUID partition as an option when I format the drive. Is this necessary, and if so, how do it do it? I'm using OS 10.8.6 on a 2012 MacBook Pro retna.
I also tried copying the backup files to another drive (a Maxtor HD) and got the same error message.
I have a 2TB Time Machine drive that has failed (directory errors). Disk Utility, Disk Warrior and Data Rescue 3 didn't work. DR3 showed the directory but can't restore it. Can I manually restore the backup folder (backups.backupdb) ?

Is there a way to not have it automatically put your signature in email replies by default? I only use signatures when composing new messages and not when replying to emails. I understand you can select "none" from the drop down box manually but is there a setting for this so I don't have to do it each time?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to Leopard. My boss just informed me that my email signature does not show up when he receives mail from me. When I BCC myself, the signature is there. I have done a short experiment with my friends and about 50% don't see my signature.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhile I was creating a new signature, Mail locked up on me. After doing a Force Quit, I found that half of my signatures are blank. I'm running Time Machine, but haven't been able to find the location in my directory, so I don't know where to look for when I go back into my backups.
In three and a half years with my Macbook, this is the first time I've lost anything.

All the other mail products (Outlook, etc) allow easy creation of mail signatures as HTML's by a simple click of a link icon.I cannot find any mention of html signatures in mac mail except for those who know how to write code.If so, whatever happened to Apple being the user friendly platform as opposed to PC's?

my MacBook Pro was stolen last year and retrieved recently. I erased all the data via disk utilities as I couldn't access the laptop - it was asking me for a username and password made during the period it was stolen. So the next step was to reinstall OS. But when I try reinstall it, it asks me for my Apple ID - which I give - and then tells me this ID wasn't used to purchase Mountain Lion previously, which I'm well aware of- it was installed on the laptop when I bought it in 2011! My Apple support has expired so I can't ask them either!
ps I have a disk with the software on it but can't get out of Restore mode on the laptop, even when I restart it. So I can't do it that way either it seems

My Mac Mail was working great until a couple of days ago when Hotmail in it stopped working. I checked all the settings and everything is fine. I had the old pop3.live.com and smtp.live.com but went ahead and changed to pop-mail.outlook.com and smtp-mail.outlook.com and still no luck. I tried using Microsoft's site to troubleshoot but it is worthless. I tried locating a phone or email support but no luck.

Up until today my MAIL app in my iMac let me use an email address that is from the AOL.com group (netscape.net)…I cannot send emails now because I can't get the computer to connect to the server. My iPad will….but not the desktop. I tried using a different server name; smtp.nestcape.net, which is the one I used in the iPad…but the iMac won't let me change it to that one..so back to the old smtp.aol.com……Still my MAIL app is not recognizing this or letting me connect!?!. I tried creating a new password at the wedpage of that email account.. successfully..but it has made no difference. I am stumped and have wasted half the day trying to deal with this.

I would like to encrypt only one of the accounts I have associated with MacMail. To do this, I plan to create a new disk image using disk utlity, then dragging the particular Mail account to that folder. Since I don't want to encrypt all accounts, I'm not sure what folders I ought to put into my new encrypted drive image.
In the "homelibrarymailV2" folder, I do see the POP or IMAP folder for the account I want to encrypt, but I was wondering if I also need to add the "Mailboxes" or "MailData" folders that are also there since they seem to have information in them related to my accounts as well.

I cannot send mail from my iMac today even though I was able to do it yesterday. I am on Mountain Lion. The Connection Doctor says that one of the SMTP servers of all those I have used in the past is connected. (The "light" is green.) I suspect there is something wrong in the Mail Preferences, but I don't know where to start to fix this problem. When I tried troubleshooting a related mail problem a few weeks ago, I received an error message saying that more than one account was attached to that SMTP server. Where I should start?
