OS X Mavericks :: Unable To Send Photos / Username / Password Not Recognized By Email Server
Jun 29, 2014
Have a MacBook Air using iPhoto 9.5.1 and operating system OS X 10.9.3.
I have tried to share photos with email using my Yahoo account. I receive the following message whenever I attempt to send a photo "username/password not recognized by email server."
I have gone into my accounts numerous times in System preferences. My username/password combo is recognized there. I have also changed my password on Yahoo and in my accounts. But I still receive the above message.

OS: OS X Mavericks
iPhoto: iPhoto v9.5.1 (902.17)Â
I choose a photo, select Share, select Email, enter an email address to send to and click Send - then I get this error: "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination."Â
In iPhoto preferences I have "Email photos using" set to "iPhoto"; I have an account added for Gmail (outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com; Port: 587; User Name and Password are correct for my gmail account, Use SSL is checked - basically everything is default for when I chose to add a gmail account and I'm positive my user name and password are entered correctly). I do not have 2-step verification enable for my gmail account (I've been searching for a solution online and noticed others mentioned this - this does not apply to my situation).Â

I have been unable to send emails from my domain account due to it being blacklisted. I am not a spammer but think my account was used recently by one. I have been unable to find out how to get my ISP de-listed as I have passed from place to place with no-one taking responsibility.
This is the error message I get "the sender address was rejected by the server [URL]`. The server response was: ATLAS(2502): 86.186.228.20 is blacklisted and not authenticated. Please request delisting via the following link: [URL] .... Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent."

Why does my mac mini now refuses to send out email, to any of my accounts? It was working. Works on my power pc, works on my iPad. Works when I use my old eudora mail program. Just doesn't work on the mac mini using the Apple Mail program. The mail system error message says the the "sender address rejected by server.". Results of clicking on "connection doctor" in error message gives all "green" status on all addresses and smtp.west.cox.net. Status message says, "Connection and login to server succeeded". In summery. everything looks fine but still will not send out messages.  I've tried restarting system. No luck. Tried taking accounts offline then online. Doesn't help. I've only concluded that the problem is in the Apple Mail program on the mac mini.Â

Went to "Manage Apple ID" and changed e-mail and password last night. Received confirming e-mails and sent back verification. Today when I started up my Mac and iPhone, got messages telling me I'm not connected to iCloud, messaging is "offline", in short, neither the new or old e-mails or passwords are being recognized. Yet, "Manage Apple ID" will let me logon with new info.

I've set up various email accounts in Mail. I've had no problems downloading email but I'm cannot send emails. I can log on to my ISP's [Orange] Web Site so the password is correct. Everytime I try to send an email I keep getting a request for the password. I type in the correct password and Mail asks for it again and so on and so on.
My email address is <my>@<adddress>.wanadoo.co.uk.
Incoming mail server: pop.wanadoo.co.uk
User name: <address>.wanadoo.co.uk@fs
Password: <password>
Outgoing Mail Server:
Account Information
Description: left this blank
Server Name: smtp.wanadoo.co.uk
Advanced:
Use default ports clicked
Authentication: Password
User name: <address>.wanadoo.co.uk@fs
Password: <password>
Under Advanced I have set the:
Port: 110
Authentication: Password
I cannot see what I am doing wrong. In Outlook Express there was an option to enter yout smtp settings and then there was also a section for your ISP requires authentication. In that you would either click use the same settings or you would enter in different settings, if sending your mail through a different ISP. I also have accounts with other ISPs so would need to do same in Mail but I'm not sure how. Having said that, if I solve the current problem it would more than likely resolve the other one. I've tried pinging smtp.wanadoo.co.uk but nothing happens. However I can ping mail.btinternet.com so I know one of my ISPs works at least. Orange status line says the broadband service is working without any problems so unless that's false info, I'm doing something wrong.

When trying to send an email on my mother's .mac account the following error appears. (Her account is biosophy@mac.com). - The message can't be sent because the server doesn't recognize "'biosophy@mac.com"-. I'm wondering if this is because there is an apostrophe after the first quotation mark. If so, how did it get there and how could it be removed?

I'm having such a hard time syncing Gmail with Apple Mail now that I've done a fresh install of SL. First of all, in Gmail Settings, the instructions for setting up Apple Mail are for Apple Mail 3.0. But the Apple Mail with SL is 4.0. The instructions say to "Check the box next to Automatically set up your account." Pic of what I'm talking about: But my Apple Mail does not have that check box: Once it's setup it says it's supposed to look like this: Notice that it's POP and not IMAP? And in mine, once it's "automatically setup" it's IMAP and not POP: When I leave the settings as is, and try to send and receive mail I keep getting an error that says something like "Can't send mail on outgoing mail server". And when I change the outgoing server to POP I get the same error. I've tried everything, I've setup and deleted this e-mail account from Apple Mail at least 4 times now and I keep getting the same error.

Mail is making me mad I'm sure about all settings like SMTP, and other details are right. There is no problem to get email, but when I try to send it keeps asking password! and not sending! Can it be something about security settings or anything else? I'm pretty new at mac, I dont know many details.

On my newer imac with osxv10.7.3, The email stays in outbox and sent folders with the spinner spinning next to the sent folder. It displays mail activity and outgoing messages...but does not change its staus. I am unable still here 1 hour later waiting for it to go.I have tried instructions from website Connection doctor - all green lights

I can receive email, but when I try to send one I get an error. When I run the connection doctor, the CONNECTION STATUS is "mail was able to connect to the Internet". In the lower box, it says Cablevision "connection and login to server succeeded".
Underneath the Cablevision message, it says mail.optonline.net. It then shows that it's continuously trying to connect to the server.
