I'm suddenly unable to send an email. For no apparent reason, I now get the message:
"The SMTP server “smtp.me.com” rejected the password for user “jt0229” Enter your password again or cancel."
I don't even know what this password is. From what I can tell, it's not the same pw as for "me.com".
I have my email set up, I can send, but I cannot receive mail. What could be wrong ?

If anyone on here uses aim, have you had issues since using Leopard sending files on AIM(AOL instant messenger)? I am unable to send anyone any type of file on there. I can receive, but I am unable to send anyone anything....any suggestions? I can send files through yahoo...so I'm not too sure why AIM hates me so much.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSometimes I can send mail and sometimes I cant. When I can't I sometimes get the 'problem with outgoing server address' message, but the address is correct. Sometimes test messages sent by me to me go into the Important mailbox but not into the Inbox.Messages that have failed send end up copied several times in a folder called Bin.

Since upgrading to os x v 10.7.3 and moving from mobileme to iCloud as instructed, I am unable to send emails from an Imac connected to an older imac operating on osx 10.4 via wi-fi. Emails form this older box are succesful.
On my newer imac with osxv10.7.3, The email stays in outbox and sent folders with the spinner spinning next to the sent folder. It displays mail activity and outgoing messages...but does not change its staus.I am unable still here 1 hour later waiting for it to go.I have tried instructions from websiteConnection doctor - all green lights

Starting this morning I have been unable to send any emails using my Apple Mail. Incoming emails are OK, and everything else on the computer (iMac - less than a year old). This is the first time this has occurred and I cannot seem to correct it. I have checked the settings as provided by TalkTalk/Tiscali.

I can receive email, but when I try to send one I get an error. When I run the connection doctor, the CONNECTION STATUS is "mail was able to connect to the Internet". In the lower box, it says Cablevision "connection and login to server succeeded".
Underneath the Cablevision message, it says mail.optonline.net. It then shows that it's continuously trying to connect to the server.

I can't send or receive new email. June 6th is the last time I received email and I can't get mail online. I have gone through all the trouble shooting and all the information is correct, however, it says my server name with (offline) in parenthesis and I can't edit that.

Recently bought a new 13" Macbook Pro and really like it. I have one issue however, after setting up my Charter POP email account I can't send email, only receive it. I am positive the settings and password are correct. They are the same as on my PC and iPhone 4. My household also has an older white Macbook using a Charter POP email account running Mac OS X 10.5.8 without any problems.
I was reading something on the Internet where others are having this same issue and it may be due to Mac OS X 10.6.4. Some suggested changing the user name to my email address, but that didn't fix the issue for me.
I have a problem replying to an e-mail where the persons e-mail name consists of a comma between last and first name. Mac Mail sometimes treats it as two addresses. It manage to add the @... to the first name and include the correct e-mail address, while the last name (appearing first) results in an error since it's not a valid e-mail address.
I can't find where I chose separator for multiple e-mail addresses, if I want to change it to a semi colon (, for instance. Anyone know what I should do? Adding the e-mail address to the address book doesn't seem to help.
I cannot figure out why a person is able to reply to an email from our iCloud email account and yet is unable to send us an email when starting fresh.

I have been unable to send emails from my domain account due to it being blacklisted. I am not a spammer but think my account was used recently by one. I have been unable to find out how to get my ISP de-listed as I have passed from place to place with no-one taking responsibility.
This is the error message I get "the sender address was rejected by the server [URL]`. The server response was: ATLAS(2502): 86.186.228.20 is blacklisted and not authenticated. Please request delisting via the following link: [URL] .... Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent."

All my messages have disappeared and I can't send email, when I click the not connected sign it says..... UNABLE TO CONNECT
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “iCloud” or try again.
The server returned the error: The server “p06-imap.mail.me.com” cannot be contacted on port 993.
tried connecting and reconnecting to iCloud, everything OK when I use ICloud mail through a web browser, just can't figure it out.
Except my server is p06-imap.mail.me.com - rather than imap.mail.me.com - but can't seem to edit this - done all the obvious things...

This may be purely coincidence but within the first 2-3 days of shifting over to outlook 2011, none of my emails sent to user@hotmail.com are going through. I get a system mail admin return e-mail saying unable to deliver for 4 hours. Basically saying hotmail.com is not responding. I have never had this problem on mac mail or outlook for the PC. Is this coincidence or does Outlook 2011 get the blame?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that the ability to send an email from outside Mail via one of the several applications that has the capability has disappeared. Whenever I try to send a message I get an error message from the app. For example in Filemaker I get "Some of the files that are needed are either damaged or have not been installed. run the installer to correct this problem." In Acrobat I get "The SendMail doesn't know how to talk to your default mail client. select a different mail application to use." In MS Word the menu selection is dimmed out. From Pages however it works fine.

Have a MacBook Air using iPhoto 9.5.1 and operating system OS X 10.9.3.
I have tried to share photos with email using my Yahoo account. I receive the following message whenever I attempt to send a photo "username/password not recognized by email server."
I have gone into my accounts numerous times in System preferences. My username/password combo is recognized there. I have also changed my password on Yahoo and in my accounts. But I still receive the above message.
How do I send an email to 175 recipients? I have a list of names and addresses. Not one at a time I hope!

My ISP sent an email that they want me to change the port my email program uses. They said most programs use port 25 and they wanted it changed to port 587 because it's safer. I called them to clarify and the tech had me change my Mail 3.6 preferences/advanced from port 995 to port 110 which he said was safer. Doing so renders me unable to e-mail so I switched it back to port 995. He couldn't figure out why 110 wouldn't work and suggested I contact Apple. I need to make any changes to my Mail account or not based either on the message from my ISP or the change the tech was trying to make. Unless I hear otherwise I'm staying at 995.

I have Mac OS X Snow Leopard Version 10.6.8. Can't receive nor send email. I have two email addresses using ATT. One address works, the other doesn't. The bad address is behaving weirdly: In Mail, in the "On My Mac" folder labeled "Recovered Messages," the contents refer to one email sent with a PDF file (19.7 MB). This email keeps cloning itself, and I keep deleting them. I resorted to deleting the PDF file from my computer. No luck. I recently changed my email addresses from AOL addresses to ATT (powered by Yahoo) addresses, in case this has anything to do with it. Have shut down computer and modem twice with no luck. The Mail Activity window is wild with activity, none of which I understand.
