Mail is making me mad I'm sure about all settings like SMTP, and other details are right. There is no problem to get email, but when I try to send it keeps asking password! and not sending! Can it be something about security settings or anything else? I'm pretty new at mac, I dont know many details.
View 6 RepliesI've set up various email accounts in Mail. I've had no problems downloading email but I'm cannot send emails. I can log on to my ISP's [Orange] Web Site so the password is correct. Everytime I try to send an email I keep getting a request for the password. I type in the correct password and Mail asks for it again and so on and so on.

I cannot see what I am doing wrong. In Outlook Express there was an option to enter yout smtp settings and then there was also a section for your ISP requires authentication. In that you would either click use the same settings or you would enter in different settings, if sending your mail through a different ISP. I also have accounts with other ISPs so would need to do same in Mail but I'm not sure how. Having said that, if I solve the current problem it would more than likely resolve the other one. I've tried pinging smtp.wanadoo.co.uk but nothing happens. However I can ping mail.btinternet.com so I know one of my ISPs works at least. Orange status line says the broadband service is working without any problems so unless that's false info, I'm doing something wrong.
I often have to send reminders, so I compose the email well before it is due to go out (hours or even days in advance). Is there a way that I can schedule drafts to be sent automatically?

I have tried to share photos with email using my Yahoo account. I receive the following message whenever I attempt to send a photo "username/password not recognized by email server."
I have gone into my accounts numerous times in System preferences. My username/password combo is recognized there. I have also changed my password on Yahoo and in my accounts. But I still receive the above message.
I have set up a POP email account to forward mail from my domain. I get emails fine, but can't send them. I have the correct Smtp address which my isp (virgin media) gave me. I don't really understand the ports. Is there something obvious that I am missing here?

Mail 2.0 has this, but I can't seem to find it anywhere in Mail 3.0?
In my Mail app I currently have two email accounts set up. One is my main email and one is my college email. I only use the college email account because my school sends all of their stuff through it so I need to monitor it. For some reason however, this account has become the default account that Mail wants to send through. To use the other account I have to click the drop down menu under the subject field. This happens even though my main account is the top account on that drop down menu. I have looked through all the preferences and cannot see where I can choose a default sending account.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having such a hard time syncing Gmail with Apple Mail now that I've done a fresh install of SL. First of all, in Gmail Settings, the instructions for setting up Apple Mail are for Apple Mail 3.0. But the Apple Mail with SL is 4.0. The instructions say to "Check the box next to Automatically set up your account." Pic of what I'm talking about: But my Apple Mail does not have that check box: Once it's setup it says it's supposed to look like this: Notice that it's POP and not IMAP? And in mine, once it's "automatically setup" it's IMAP and not POP: When I leave the settings as is, and try to send and receive mail I keep getting an error that says something like "Can't send mail on outgoing mail server". And when I change the outgoing server to POP I get the same error. I've tried everything, I've setup and deleted this e-mail account from Apple Mail at least 4 times now and I keep getting the same error.

Up until today my MAIL app in my iMac let me use an email address that is from the AOL.com group (netscape.net)…I cannot send emails now because I can't get the computer to connect to the server. My iPad will….but not the desktop. I tried using a different server name; smtp.nestcape.net, which is the one I used in the iPad…but the iMac won't let me change it to that one..so back to the old smtp.aol.com……Still my MAIL app is not recognizing this or letting me connect!?!. I tried creating a new password at the wedpage of that email account.. successfully..but it has made no difference. I am stumped and have wasted half the day trying to deal with this.

I cannot send mail from my iMac today even though I was able to do it yesterday. I am on Mountain Lion. The Connection Doctor says that one of the SMTP servers of all those I have used in the past is connected. (The "light" is green.) I suspect there is something wrong in the Mail Preferences, but I don't know where to start to fix this problem. When I tried troubleshooting a related mail problem a few weeks ago, I received an error message saying that more than one account was attached to that SMTP server. Where I should start?

I have the following problem: when I have opened e.g. a pdf or picture in the Preview application, and select "eMail PDF as attachment", the mail application opens, but asks me for the password for my 2 mail accounts (although they are saved in keychain)
- when I enter the password it is accepted
- when I enter the password and check the checkbox for saving it in keychain it is not accepted!? (therefore maybe a conflict with keychain)
- when I have already opened mail, no password is asked (so in this case it works)
- when I try to send a mail from any other application (e.g. office), no password is asked
I tried already:
- repair permissions
- keychain first aid

- lion recovery
I suspect a problem between Preview.app and keychain, but don't know where to look anymore?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy ISP sent an email that they want me to change the port my email program uses. They said most programs use port 25 and they wanted it changed to port 587 because it's safer. I called them to clarify and the tech had me change my Mail 3.6 preferences/advanced from port 995 to port 110 which he said was safer. Doing so renders me unable to e-mail so I switched it back to port 995. He couldn't figure out why 110 wouldn't work and suggested I contact Apple. I need to make any changes to my Mail account or not based either on the message from my ISP or the change the tech was trying to make. Unless I hear otherwise I'm staying at 995.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy apple mail version 7.3 has never had any problems connecting with my gmail account, but recently whenever I try to send an email, it goes straight to the outbox and then a popup saying "Gmail cannot connect to the server" or something like that comes up. It asks me to enter my password, and I do and then it just pops up the same error again. I have tried changing my password and made sure I am entering it correctly but it just does not work. I can receive mail fine.

Maybe I'm a dumbass and missed something obvious, but in Leopard Mail, in the New Message window, there's a drop-down menu where you can choose which email to send the message from. But in Snow Leopard, the drop-down menu's not there, and I can't figure out how to choose which email address I want the message to be sent from. The only way I could do it is to click a message sent to that email address, then click New Message, the message will then send from that email address.
How can I send a group email for my blog to using BCC on my mail program?
