OS X V10.7 Lion :: Cannot Send Email With Attachment Using Server (ICloud)
Jul 4, 2012
When I attempt to send email with attachment I get an error message that says "cannot send message using the server ICloud (Icloud)" sending the message content to the server failed.
Using Mail 5.2, on OS 10.7.3, and have icloud paid storage ($40 plan; 25 gb total storage). Using icloud mail server, the server times out when I'm sending emails with attachments. Any attachment of 20-something kb gets me an outgoing message action bar with the horizontal blue meter slowly counting out the kb per second until it times about about 60 seconds later and I get a mail message telling me "Cannot send message using the server... icloud. Sending the message content to the server failed."
What is going on? I'm making an assumption that icloud server is limiting this. (I should say my internet service provider is verizon, and I know that they limit the kb I can send electronically. When I tried to send a simple 33 kb email w/ attachment I did get a different message saying verizon wouldn't let me send because it was over their data limit of 25kb per email.) My belief was that if I was using the FREE icloud I was limited to some smal kb, but I'm a paying customer. Doesn't this get me something like 250 kb of data sending?
I need to be able to send reasonable amounts of data from my computer by email. (Note, I've compressed the files - which only saved 2 kb.)

I would like to take a picture from my library and send it as an attachment in a email. The only way it seems to be able to be sent is by embedding it in the letter.
When trying to send an email on my mother's .mac account the following error appears. (Her account is biosophy@mac.com). - The message can't be sent because the server doesn't recognize "'biosophy@mac.com"-. I'm wondering if this is because there is an apostrophe after the first quotation mark. If so, how did it get there and how could it be removed?
I'm having such a hard time syncing Gmail with Apple Mail now that I've done a fresh install of SL. First of all, in Gmail Settings, the instructions for setting up Apple Mail are for Apple Mail 3.0. But the Apple Mail with SL is 4.0. The instructions say to "Check the box next to Automatically set up your account." Pic of what I'm talking about: But my Apple Mail does not have that check box: Once it's setup it says it's supposed to look like this: Notice that it's POP and not IMAP? And in mine, once it's "automatically setup" it's IMAP and not POP: When I leave the settings as is, and try to send and receive mail I keep getting an error that says something like "Can't send mail on outgoing mail server". And when I change the outgoing server to POP I get the same error. I've tried everything, I've setup and deleted this e-mail account from Apple Mail at least 4 times now and I keep getting the same error.
I cannot connect to the server [URL] to send email. The options for servers in the mail preferences shows this server as Offline. Cox requires use of this server.
What a disaster this service is. I'm going to drop it. I've wasted countless hours with iCloud problem. And the annoying music you have to listen to when on hold! I guess that's to make you hang up
When I forward an email to my bookkeeper through mail, it always comes in as an attachment on her PC. She says this happens to another person as well who is using a Mac?
The attachment uploader no longer works, either with Mac Mail, or on Google Chrome or Safari. When trying to upload, the grey area with the folder names moves all the way to the right, obscuring the white area with any files I could upload. When I clear the cache completely in Chrome, I can upload a file if it is on the desktop, but if I move to any other folder the same problem happens again, and I again have to clear the browser to have a chance at uploading something. I can still drag and drop files into the attachment window, but it's rather annoying that I can no longer upload things in the normal fashion.
I just had to change my apple id password. Now when I try to use email, a box comes up saying "cannot send message using the server iCloud". What can I do to get email to work again?
Since upgrading to os x v 10.7.3 and moving from mobileme to iCloud as instructed, I am unable to send emails from an Imac connected to an older imac operating on osx 10.4 via wi-fi. Emails form this older box are succesful.
On my newer imac with osxv10.7.3, The email stays in outbox and sent folders with the spinner spinning next to the sent folder. It displays mail activity and outgoing messages...but does not change its staus.I am unable still here 1 hour later waiting for it to go.I have tried instructions from websiteConnection doctor - all green lights
I have just upgraded to Lion/iCloud. I am trying to send a photo with an email. Photostream is on. But I am being told that 'The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination'.
I have recieved e-mail with "undisclosed recipients" in the from box, I tried putting that in and putting all recipients in BCC but it would not send, I-cloud came back telling me recipient did not exist.
Am trying to get my MacBook on iCloud. I use a .mac account and the instructions say to do something from the " home screen "... Which is here? How do I find it?
am unable to send receive email into my me.com account on my macbook, I clear the messages from trash and deleted messages and they keep returning and filling my icloud storage limit.
When I want to save a file that somebody has attached to an email, I open the file - but I can only save a version (which I presume saves it back to the email). So I create a duplicate, and choose Save. In Save all I can see of my documents are the most recently used folders - and I can't see any subfolders. Frequently the folder that I want to save in isn't shown - and I can't find any way of revealing it. And if it is shown, I can't see any of the sub folders - so I have to go through the performance of saving it in one place and then opening the folders in Finder and moving it around - a ridiculously long winded task.
My new employer uses Gmail as there email serves. It is a Japanese company and when I log into Gmail, even using the translator, most of the controls and text is still in Japanese.

Have a MacBook Air using iPhoto 9.5.1 and operating system OS X 10.9.3.
I have tried to share photos with email using my Yahoo account. I receive the following message whenever I attempt to send a photo "username/password not recognized by email server."
I have gone into my accounts numerous times in System preferences. My username/password combo is recognized there. I have also changed my password on Yahoo and in my accounts. But I still receive the above message.
I just ran into a problem. On my mac account I can send email but not receive email. I have tried all he normal stuff like permisions repair rebooting software updates but so far nothing has worked.
