OS X Mavericks :: Can Send / Can't Receive Email After IMAP Set Up On Mail

Dec 10, 2014I can receive but cannot send IMAP email on my 1&1 mail account from Mac OS 10.10.1 Yosemite Mail on my new Macbook Pro. The account is set up the same port, password, username, server name as on my old Macbook and emails are sending just fine on the old computer.Â
When I hit send on the new Macbook Pro running Yosemite I get this message: "The connection to host ... on port 993 failed. Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent."It shows the server as (offline)I've tried erasing and typing in the password. I've tried both checking and unchecking Automatically detect and maintain account settings. Still cannot send. I also have a Gmail account and it is working...

Mar 12, 2012In the past few weeks, I have had major trouble in sending emails from my Macbook via the mail application (program), but I am able to receive mail fine. Any hints before I throw my Macbook onto oncoming traffic (which is also running majorly slow since the last update). I have been sitting here for about 30 mins waiting to send an email.

Aug 27, 2014My apple mail version 7.3 has never had any problems connecting with my gmail account, but recently whenever I try to send an email, it goes straight to the outbox and then a popup saying "Gmail cannot connect to the server" or something like that comes up. It asks me to enter my password, and I do and then it just pops up the same error again. I have tried changing my password and made sure I am entering it correctly but it just does not work. I can receive mail fine.Â

Sometimes test messages sent by me to me go into the Important mailbox but not into the Inbox.Messages that have failed send end up copied several times in a folder called Bin.

Jul 2, 2012I cannot send mail. This has been an occasional problem. I'd send and a pop-up would offer me choice: Cancel, ~Trash, or Save as Draft. I'd save and successfully send as a draft. The last few days I've had to the saved draft and send in Eudora. Today I spent some time on this. At first it looked all right in Mail/Preferences/Accounts, smtp.west.cox.net.user name--then it persistently included (Offline), but Mail menu bar/ Window showed Take All Accounts Online dimmed and Take All Accounts Offline as the active option. At this time I could receive but not send mail. I have edited the smtp server list a number of times. No show of offline there. When I'm done (Offline) again pops up on theOutgoing Mail Server (SMTP). I deleted the account and recreated it and could not send. The (Offline) did not appear after the smtp.cox.net.user name. Early 2006 iMac, OS 10.6.8  The settings are OK, the same as in Eudora.

Dec 11, 2009I have a new MacBook Pro. Everywhere I go, I can send and receive emails with no problems using the Mail program. However, when I am at school, I connect to their wireless network. I receive all the emails from my Mobile-Me and Gmail accounts, but cannot send any emails out. When I connect to a different network off campus, it send out the emails that were in the queue right away.
My outgoing servers at smtp.me.com, and smtp.gmail.com. I am running Snow Leopard and the help desk at the university doesn't really deal with Macs.

I have called my email provider who says everything is fine on there end and I have gone and checked to make sure all is ok under my account but still not working. Jun 19, 2012Can't send or receive e-mail on my iMac through Comcast for about 2 months now. Same problem with all users set up in the computer. Can connect ok to the internet, but can't access [url]..unless I reset Safari, then can only access once. Tried setting up new mail account, but get error message that it can't connect to server mail.comcast.net. Comcast blames it on last apple software update. I don't think that's the problem. Tried changing ports from 995 to 587 and 465 with no luck. Uncheck SSL box, no luck. Reset cable modem box, got incoming mail once, then no more. Outgoing mail still would not send.

Mar 10, 2012I have Mac OS X Snow Leopard Version 10.6.8. Can't receive nor send email. I have two email addresses using ATT. One address works, the other doesn't. The bad address is behaving weirdly: In Mail, in the "On My Mac" folder labeled "Recovered Messages," the contents refer to one email sent with a PDF file (19.7 MB). This email keeps cloning itself, and I keep deleting them. I resorted to deleting the PDF file from my computer. No luck. I recently changed my email addresses from AOL addresses to ATT (powered by Yahoo) addresses, in case this has anything to do with it. Have shut down computer and modem twice with no luck. The Mail Activity window is wild with activity, none of which I understand.

Jun 3, 2010I just got my Mac last week and ever since then I haven't been able to send mail from one account. I can both receive and send from my gmail account. My EDU account can only receive mail, and not send it. I've tried resetting the information, and even deleted the account a few times. All of the servers and ports are exactly like the school website says they should be.
