View 1 RepliesSince the MBA has no internal DVD drive, I would like to pre load some DVD's on the MBA hard drive before I go on the road. I was thinking of using mac the ripper to rip my personal DVD. Is there a way in Front Row to import video_ts files without using an optical disk? As far as memory serves this wasn't possible with Tiger. If this is impossible what is an other way to store DVD's on my hard drive and watch them in front row?

View 4 Replies View RelatedCouldn't find the answer on Mroogle.1. Removed optical drive from 2007 MacBook Pro2. Installed Optibay alternative in MacBook Pro3. Installed 320 GB HDD in "Optibay"4. Attempted to watch a VIDEO_TS folder with DVD Player5. Upon dragging folder to DVD Player icon this message appears:There was an initialization error
A valid DVD drive could not be found [-70012]6. Attempted to load with VLC, no luck. 7. Videos are located on HDD in "Optibay", FYI.I've found a little program that apparently switches the optical drive DVD player looks for to an external one, which I posses, but I don't want to have to unhook my USB dvd drive from its happy little resting place at my desk, just to watch a movie on my TV, sitting in bed, at a friends' house or on a plane or something.
I go to my Hard Drive icon> Library>Application Support. it is different than going to Home>Library>Application Support.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to Lion and sadly, Front Row is not supported. I somehow found the Front Row app in my systems folder and moved it to my Applications folder. Front Row now shows up in my applications folder, as well as Launchpad. However, when I go into Front Row, it does not recognize any of my media from iTunes. I tried out this website: [URL]..blog/frontrowenablerforlion to no avail. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how to make Front Row work in OS X Lion.

Any news of Front Row in Lion? Apple is selling the mac mini without any new interface? Apple really needs to offer us something over front row which I don't think has been updated since 2007. So Apple how about it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI typically use handbrake to rip my DVDs, but as far as I know, I can only create AVI's and MKV's from Handbrake (correct me if I'm wrong). I also really like having the VIDEO_TS file intact on my computer, so that I can still access the DVD's menus, special features, etc. Sometimes I am able to just copy the VIDEO_TS file directly off the DVD to my desktop, but sometimes it says that I "do not have the permissions" to do so.... or something along those lines. I understand that most DVDs are protected so you can't just copy them, but it seems that my computer allows me to copy the VIDEO_TS sometimes and not others. And this is with the SAME DVD.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to know how to burn a movie that I have in .avi format, and covert and burn it onto a DVD. I have managed to burn the .avi straight onto the DVD, but this means that I cannot view it in DVDPlayer.app because it needs a VIDEO_TS folder. (EDIT: Or I cannot view it in my DVD player, plugged into my television)So I just wanted to know how to burn my movie from an .avi format onto a DVD using the standard VIDEO_TS folder (and possibly an AUDIO_TS as well, if needed).BTW, if it is possible using the free Burn.app software, that would be great

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to backup a few of my rare DVDs that I have. I used RipIt to rip the DVD and now I have a folder with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS in it. What freeware can I use to burn these to a DVDR so that it plays in any DVD player? I tried DVDRemaster too and I'm having the same issue. The file size is small enough to fit on a single layer DVDR.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to backup a few .avi files I have onto DVDs and after reading over the forums I have aquired ffmpegx and Toast 8. I place the avi file into ffmpex, encode it with the dvdffmpeg format. But once i burn it with toast, it takes the original wide screen avi file and stretches it to full screen.
I tried re-encoding with the DVD 16:9 setting selected with ffmpeg and it seems to look better in a preview, but when I try and burn the Video_TS folder in Toast it gives me the CSS Encryption disk error, which I do not understand because I'm not copying a copyrighted dvd.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAs I wait for my Apple Extreme Base Station, I was wondering if it would make sense to create two different SSID networks. One Mixed b/g for 2.4GHz devices and another one solely for 5GHz. I know my ATV2 supports 802.11n in 5GHz. As I go down my list of devices in my house, I can't tell if my MacBook Pros support the 5GHz. Both MacBook Pros are Mid 2010 models.
The reason for creating two different networks is that the AEBS downgrades your network based on the lowest device (i.e. b/g would be forced on a n device if such device connects to your network).

1) Is this release Apple's final update of the MBPs before September (when I go back to school)?

For those unaware of what Hybrid SLI is, it allows you to use the integrated and discrete video cards that the higher-end MacBook Pro's come with together simultaneously to get you better performance in graphic-intensive programs and games. I saw an option under the "High Performance" power plan settings that enables Hybrid SLI, but that disappeared after installing the Boot Camp drivers. I found out through a quick Google search that it would be easy to bring the option back, but does the MacBook Pro really support Hybrid SLI now and do you think it would be safe to use it on the MacBook Pro? Hybrid SLI could definitely add a few frames per second when playing games, so it would be a nice addition considering how every MacBook Pro has a mid-range video card.
