I want to burn a VIDEO_TS folder of 5,2GB to a 4,7GB DVD5.So what I want is basically DVD-Shrink for Mac OS X. If you google that, you only come across MacTheRipper - which I already did the Ripping with, but it doesn't shrink the DVD.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to back up some DVD is I OWN.I used MTR to get the Video_TS folder on my HD.I have been trying to get Burn to create a disk that will work on my stand alone DVD player (which supposedly supports DVD -/+R and RW well as DivX).WHICH TYPE OF DISK DO I TELL BURN TO CREATE? I've been trying to burn on to dual layer disk i.e 8.5 GB.Video_TS foldeer is 7 GBIf I chose the DATA TAB tell Burn to create a "DVD-video disk" I get a disk that my computer can play in the DVD App that functions like a DVD, BUT my stand alone DVD player won't recognise it. (tells me its a DATA disk).

What freeware can I use to burn these to a DVDR so that it plays in any DVD player? I tried DVDRemaster too and I'm having the same issue. The file size is small enough to fit on a single layer DVDR.

I am using Toast to attempt to burn the VIDEO_TS, but of course it complains about the encryption which is fair enough.I have trying using Mactheripper and also SimplyBurns with no success.Does anyone have a definitive guide on how to burn encrypted VIDEO_TS to DVD-R on OSX?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to backup a few .avi files I have onto DVDs and after reading over the forums I have aquired ffmpegx and Toast 8. I place the avi file into ffmpex, encode it with the dvdffmpeg format. But once i burn it with toast, it takes the original wide screen avi file and stretches it to full screen.
I tried re-encoding with the DVD 16:9 setting selected with ffmpeg and it seems to look better in a preview, but when I try and burn the Video_TS folder in Toast it gives me the CSS Encryption disk error, which I do not understand because I'm not copying a copyrighted dvd.
I currently use fairmount to strip off the encrypto,but after that it takes FOR EVER to have it spin up the dvd all the way it needs to in order to rip the dvd.I am using either dvd2onex or mac the ripper, but since fairmount is taking so long when i start to rip the video _ts folder to the hrddrive, it causes my movies to stutter, and even bounce around when i go to make a handbrake backup!what other apps will allow you to rip the video_ts folders from your own dvd's?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIt is supposed to be the best burning package on mac. But I doubt it. I convert videos to dvd-video format using the absolutely brilliant windows7 application convertxtodvd. Please dont tell me to use a mac application instead of it. I tried it many times, there were always several problems(slow speed, subs etc). This is not the case here.
So, I want these dvd-videos in Video_ts format, to be burned in dvd disks using toast. It is supposed that video_ts folder are a standard folder, no matter the system you use. But toast has a different opinion. When I drag the folder in the dvd-video window, it asks to re-encode the video!!!If I try to burn this video_ts folder in windows machine using 'nero', no problem at all, straight burning! I really cannot understand why this happens.
Another problem I have is that the files I want toast to burn, usually reside to network computer. Is there any way to burn files from a network computer(win) using toast? Can toast access network or not? If not, I have to manually copy files to local disk, several minutes spent for copying gigabytes just to be able to burn them.
Have a free to distribute educational DVD (preparation for a test) that I need to make a copy of for a friend. Downloaded MacTheRipper and copy the DVD. Next I downloaded a freeware program called Burn that looks simple and is all I need. However I when I try to burn I get an error "Failed: There was a problem authoring the DVD" Also I tried to use the burn to a data DVD mode and it wrote the data to the DVD (you can physically see it's there) but when it got to finalize I got the same error message and you can't read the DVD contents. I have a new Mac Pro running 10.5.3 and the DVD drive is OEM PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI typically use handbrake to rip my DVDs, but as far as I know, I can only create AVI's and MKV's from Handbrake (correct me if I'm wrong). I also really like having the VIDEO_TS file intact on my computer, so that I can still access the DVD's menus, special features, etc. Sometimes I am able to just copy the VIDEO_TS file directly off the DVD to my desktop, but sometimes it says that I "do not have the permissions" to do so.... or something along those lines. I understand that most DVDs are protected so you can't just copy them, but it seems that my computer allows me to copy the VIDEO_TS sometimes and not others. And this is with the SAME DVD.

I have managed to burn the .avi straight onto the DVD, but this means that I cannot view it in DVDPlayer.app because it needs a VIDEO_TS folder. Is there a way in Front Row to import video_ts files without using an optical disk? As far as memory serves this wasn't possible with Tiger.If this is impossible what is an other way to store DVD's on my hard drive and watch them in front row?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a very old foreign film I need to burn onto a DVD. Right now it's in two parts - a first part .avi and a second part .avi. The subtitles are .srt for the first part and .sub for the second part (so four files altogether with two video files and two subtitle files).
I have a PS3 that can read computer type files and has worked for other movies and things I've burned onto DVDs and even CDs, but apparently it won't show the subtitles in these files so I need to convert it or something. I am trying in iDVD but it's not letting me put the .srt or .sub files in there.
What is the easiest way to do this? I'm not very technically proficient, so please use layman's terms.
I have iMovie 2.1.2 on a Mac G4 with a superdrive burner. I've captured video from my mini-dv camcorder and now I want to put it on DVD to be played on any DVD player.
I've tried a few of the "expert" settings to export it, but none do the trick as far as producing playable DVD's. I have toast titanium 5 and I don't have Quicktime Pro. I also do not have iDVD.
I have Final Cut Pro on this computer, but have no idea how to use it.
Is there a simple way to to export directly from iMovie onto a playable DVD, or do I need something else?
