I am moving some files from my old PC onto my mac and some of my .AVI videos aren't playing. It says that I need to download a plugin for it to play. It takes me to a webpage with some links. I downloaded the Divx codec and all it did was install a divx player. I am not sure if it installed any plugins for quicktime. I tried updating my QT software and it said I had the most current software. What am I doing wrong? Also, I am having trouble playing some mpg files too. Some are working whereas others are not. All of these files played just fine in my windows media player on my PC and no mac app seems to be working for me. I have a 3 week old MB.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy machine is Macbook Pro 15" Hi-res glossy core i7 which I just purchased from the apple online store about 2 months. Now my problem is everytime I open a DVD with DVD player, the frame rate is very low (when people move, it's not that clear but when the background moves, it's very obvious) (To see the picture, you can imagine that it's like watching VDOs on youtube, but it's not that bad.) However, the resolution of the DVD is the same. I've tried to open the same DVD with VLC player and it's perfect, so I don't think it's something to do with hardware.

I own a PowerMac G5 but for my anniversary my girlfriend got me a G4 Cube because she knew how much I loved 'em. I just found out that you need USB speakers.
1. (Even though I don't have speakers) When I put an audio cd in the CUBE.. it recognizes it, but when I hit the play button on iTunes, the swirling beach-ball will just sit there. What's up with that?
2. Can I upgrade the processor and boost the memory up to 1GB?

I was told to run Vista 64bit for games, but I was wondering about this� Since many applications don�t even have a 64bit version out and I don�t think games are 64bit, will they all run under vista 64bit? I have a feeling this might be a dumb question, but I just wanted to make sure before I go out and buy Vista 64.
Also do you think windows 7 is better for games? Will it even run games that have not been written for it? Or would I just be better sticking with vista 64 until everyone has caught up and made their apps compatible with the new windows 7? I mean will antivirus programs, ripping apps, etc work under windows 7 without a hitch, or should I wait and just use vista64 for now?
I am trying to convert AVI to MP4 and I always seem to run into problems. I use MPEG streamclip and sometime i get an error after converting saying that file cannot be played, not a movie file. thought when i play it in AVI format it works fine. Also another problem I have is the sound doesnt work sometime in the MP4 format but it does in the AVI format. Any thoughts on converters that I can buy that possibly work faster?

Let's say I'm playing an album (no playlist just a double click on the album), so that I see all track titles listed: Now 2 questions: Whats the easiest way to resume to this view, after e.g. browsing the iTunes store, to select another song from the currently playing album? When I close iTunes how can I resume playing the last played album? I can replay the last played song easily by selecting the last played playlist. But then I can't replay the complete album.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI opened the iTunes equalizer and it wasn't showing on the desktop. I tried using Expose (show all windows) and I see the equalizer "open". But when I exit Expose I see my Equalizer flies up and behind (or possibly over) the toolbar on top. I tried everything I could, but to no prevail. There was no way that I could possibly click behind the toolbar, I tried to bring all the windows up front and that didn't work. Tried clicking on the equalizer from Expose and it flies up again. Is there any other way to bring the little window back?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a lot of photos and a few videos on iPhoto and Mobile Me. If I send the videos using iPhoto to FaceBook they work fine, but not if I just send out the link (tell a friend), the videos don't play. They get a prompt that says install quicktime, but then it still doesn't work. I did an online chat with support and the person told me to use iMovie and how to do that. So, question one is, is the problem with sending video through iPhoto that the file is not compatible with other computers? Question two is, should I be sending the video through iMovie?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm new to iMac, with a brand new 21.5" and Snow Leopard OS, current version of iDVD. I saved a slide show (approx 240 pics, with audio tracks ripped from CD) from "Photo to Movie 4.2.7" twice, once as a DV movie, again as a Quicktime movie...both around 3.5 GB. In both instances, after dragging the the movies into iDVD and setting up, the resulting movie plays on the iMac, using iDVD preview or Quicktime player, but when I burn on a DVD, the movie "freezes" at approx. the midpoint..that is, the DVD continues to play but the image freezes on the last picture from the movie that burned successfully. There is no music transition at that point, so that is not the issue, and there is no file size warning in iDVD.

What is the cause of any audio songs played through iTunes since the most recent update to playback very poorly, low volume, low quality and volume phases in and out. I don't think it is the speakers, they work fine in other apps???

iTunes (11.3.1) keeps deleting episodes of podcasts when I auto-sync podcasts on my computer with my iPod (Classic 160 GB.). However, this only happens with some podcasts. This is in spite of the fact that I've checked all available boxes in the standard settings, and the particular settings for each specific podcast, as "Do not delete any played episodes."
Some of the podcasts no longer exist, so if they disappear from my computer or iPod they're just gone forever.

I have all of my music stored in the default location for iTunes and when I play a file outside of iTunes, it will add it to the library database.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWith Itunes 9, every song I play gets added to the Itunes library, even if I don't want it there. I have Itunes as my default music player on a Windows 7 (64-bit) computer. For example, if in windows explorer, I click on an MP3 file that is not in the Itunes library, Itunes starts up and plays the song (which is fine), but also it adds the song to the itunes library (which I don't want). I don't see any options to change this behavior.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen playing podcasts on my iPhones, the audio skips and scratches and sometimes freezes. It does NOT do this with audiobooks downloaded from Autible.com or music from the iTunes store or ripped from CDs. I am having this problem on multiple iPhones. The 3GS is over two years old and the 4S is brand new. The software and firmware for both devices is up to date. For these reasons, I don't think it is related to the iPhones. It started very recently (June 2012). It occurs on the headphone jack and on music systems that connect through the dock. It occurs when using the stock music player application. I am loading the audio files via stock iTunes, which is up to date. I wonder if it is realated to the last iTunes update.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy husband (who has my old iMac) inserted a CD that a friend gave him into his disk drive. He played the disk in iTunes, but then could not get it to eject. I came over to "help" and after clicking the eject button in ITunes and then holdiing the eject button on the keyboard down for some time, the drive is stuck in kind of a loop trying to eject the CD. Here are the things that we have tried:
restarting the iMac
shutting it down and rebooting after waiting a while
shutting it down and unplugging it. Waiting for a while and then plugging it back in and rebooting
rebooting while holding the eject button down (on keyboard)
resetting the PRAM by holding down option-command-p-r while booting
drutil eject -drive internal in Terminal Mode
