Dec 29, 2008I have the regular output volume control on my menu bar, but is there a way to put the input volume control on the menu bar?

View 2 RepliesI have seen many nicely designed desktops and most of them have customized menubars, from the different menu icons (like gmail notifier, bowtie, etc) to even the fonts and different apple icons.
I have tried to use Magnifique but, that seems to only change some of it.
My question is, how would I be able to change the fonts and the icons on the menubar? What would I need?
In prefs I've highlighted Line in, plugged in a mic, put input vol up but the nput level is still low
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to make a script that adjusts the output volume of my mac based on the volume that the mic hears. I am not very good with applescript, but I do know how to control the volume. I was wondering if there was a command that retrieved the input level from the mic as it is show in the sound preferences in the system preferences window.

View 1 Replies View Relatedafter updating to 10.5.7, the battery icon doesn't seem to want to update. info is set to show battery icon and percentage.
after unplugging the mag connector, battery status indicates 100% after 1.75 hours. anyone seen this before? did not notice this happen prior to update.
Is it possible to have a kind of dropdown list of the devices (hard drives, dvd drives, usb drives) from an icon in the menubar? It would be very convenient.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOK, this seems to be a fundamental flaw in OSX. I cannot find how to do this:
- I have a MBP and an external monitor and I want to use only one at a time.
- I want to use the optimal resolution for each monitor.
- It seems the only way to put the dock and menubar in both monitors is by mirroring, but that sets the external monitor at a lower resolution.
- I don't want to have to drag the menubar from one to the other.
I just installed SL, and it seems as if all my menubar icons have disappeared. I have tried fixing permissions and that did not seem to help.

View 6 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of a way to JUST change the apple logo in the menubar?
I want to change it to this image:
I'm on Snow Leopard and have SnowTunes Noir installed, and I'm not a big fan of the Apple.
When Safari is active, the menubar and the dock disappears. I have chosen not to show/hide dock in system preferences, and whenever any other program than Safari is active, the dock and menubar stays put. My OS is 10.7 - P.S. I have not maximized the Safari-window.
What could cause this, and how do I get the dock and menubar to stay even when Safari is active?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem in fullscreen mode, on my Macbook pro 15".I LOVE fullscreen, and infact the next macbook I will get is the 11" air because of its size and because full screen is so nice to work with.Suddenly the menubar will not display it self when I move the mouse to the top of the screen. The only way I can access the menu bar is by exiting full screen (ctrl + Cmd + F) and the toggel it back on after I have used the menubar .This actually makes fullscreen mode useless and its driving me nuts, because this should not happen on Apple software. I would expect these sorts of behaviour on windows but not in osx.

I bought the Mini Display Port to HDMI & HDMI to HDMI cables to hook my MacBook Air to my HDTV. I don't want mirroring. I want my HDTV to be a separate display. I have the mirroring not ticked but when I do my HDTV only shows the background of my OS and not the dock nor the menu bar/windows.
Can you recommend a weather app for SL that sits in the menubar? I did a search on macupdate and basically came up with many that were developed (and haven't been touched since) 2-3 years ago. Any that you can recommend that work well with SL and don't use a huge amount of system resources?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac Pro and not too long ago I swapped from a fat, heavy and filthy white Apple Keyboard to a new skinny silver one. I like it, and also love that the F7-9 Skip Back-Pause/Play-Skip Forward keys work for iTunes, even when another app is active (what's the word I'm looking for - in focus or whatever). But I use Optical output, so the volume keys (F10-12) don't do anything. I know that, when iTunes is the active app, I can command-+/- to change the volume, but I'd love to be able to map the F10-12 keys to do that - without having to have iTunes active (playing, but not the active window).
View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently, my newer (last year) iMac probably running 10.5 started speaking and wont shut up... there is no obvious way to turn it off. I usually figure problems out myself but there are no system preferences that effect it. I even changed the voice in preferences as a test and it is still the same guy reading everything clicked in all applications except when I am in system preferences so far. Usually when I run into a dead end like this there is some mystery key command that works... anyone know?I also noticed that some of the top line (f) keys are not doing what they are supposed to any longer as well... volume up opens the window for expose & spaces it looks like and does not control the volume monitor brightness controls are not working either... I went to the key and mouse preferences and set the key strokes to default and still the same.
View 6 Replies View Related I have my imac apart right now and replaced the internal HD as it was not working. I assume the problem is the new one is not formatted with OSX, so from the INSTALL CD I opened the disk utility and see only one drive called "MEDIA".? Or is that just part of the install dvd that looks like a HD? In the system it shows as not formatted, 0 bytes. When selected in Partition it says :
"This voume is the startup volume and cannot be erased. Size 7.1 GB The disk is not writable and cannot be partitioned"
So i guess thats not my new HD I am seeing? Other than that there is only the two OSX install CD icons.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this- it is a pita to adjust separate volume controls on everything. If I adjust the volume on the keyboard, the volume slider in itunes doe snot move. If I set the volume on itunes with a mouse, then come home and use the volume controls on my keyboard, I have to also manually adjust the slider in itunes. Anyway to link the two?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently decided to increase the volume of my bootcamp disk, which I had done in the past using a method which ultimately made the disk unrecognizable. This time around I used Winclone to create an image of my bootcamp disk. I was not sure exactly how Winclone worked and to be safe I decided to keep the Bootcamp disk I had, and I created a third partition of a larger volume to which I restored the bootcamp image. Everything worked fine obviously, and the image was restored correctly to the new larger volume. The dilemma is I had two bootcamp disks, so I erased the smaller volume because I no longer needed it. Currently I am trying to restore this empty space within the main disk to the Macintosh HD. Disk util looks like:
I know I can just create a backup of the macintosh HD, another image of the bootcamp disk, and format the disk and start over, but I am hoping there is an easier way to go about this; considering there has been a method engineered such that I can just drag that corner of the mac HD and voila I have instantly more storage after applying, it seems viable that there is something that can be done rather than formatting my disk, unless the necessity for that of course was overlooked. Before I get flamed and etc... I have google and done some research about this issue but cannot find much about it.
I am not sure if this is a very common issue or topic but how do you adjust or modify your apple keyboard so that you can adjust screen brightness or volume? I am currently running Windows XP SP3, on a 2.4Ghz Unibody Macbook.
When I use the F11, 12 buttons, the pages go away or the dashboard comes up. I've tried to change the settings but that didn't work either

I just woke my MacBook Air up after charging and I noticed that the menubar icon for the battery was full, but it was RED. It changed back to black after about 5 seconds. Has anybody ever seen this "full" RED status icon in their menubar? I am posting a screenshot so you can see.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust reading the other post related to 27" input I have a question about connecting a G4 MDD that has a DVI output to a quad i5 or quad i7 iMac.
I need to connect the G4 since my kids have some games that still run in Classic mode and only have enough room for one monitor. Is there a cable that will allow me to use the iMac as a monitor for the G4?
