When Safari is active, the menubar and the dock disappears. I have chosen not to show/hide dock in system preferences, and whenever any other program than Safari is active, the dock and menubar stays put. My OS is 10.7 - P.S. I have not maximized the Safari-window.
What could cause this, and how do I get the dock and menubar to stay even when Safari is active?
This morning my wireless mouse needed battery replacement. After that, the cursor disappears as I move it away from the dock area. If I move over buttons and am lucky, the proper action will take place but I cannot see the cursor. Sort of like playing Battleship game. Blindly move the mouse and hope I hit something. Although this is new this morning, I've had the same problem in the past but it went away. It seems worse or much more annoying this morning. My wired mouse displays the same problem. I had to borrow my wife's laptop to send this problem. The only program open is Safari.
Very suddenly my dock has disappeared, (and occasionally reappears), and is now completely non-useable. Why..? I have created other accounts on my computer previously and the dock on those is fine...I have looked in Activity monitor and it flashes on and then disappears in there.I tried using terminal to 'killall Dock', but this did nothing...Am using Leopard on Alu iMac.
I have seen many nicely designed desktops and most of them have customized menubars, from the different menu icons (like gmail notifier, bowtie, etc) to even the fonts and different apple icons.
I have tried to use Magnifique but, that seems to only change some of it.
My question is, how would I be able to change the fonts and the icons on the menubar? What would I need?
The dock on my Mac only appears when I click on it. I'm pretty sure I just accidentally pressed a keyboard shortcut, but I don't know how to reverse it.
I already tried Command+Option+D, but that's not the problem (it's not that my mouse has to hover over where the dock should be - I physically have to click in that space. As soon as I click on another application, the dock disappears again).
i have, or had, an applications folder next to the trash on my dock but the link seems to have broken. when i click it now it just puts up a big question mark.
i tried making an alias for the applications folder and putting that on the dock in place of the broken one but that, while it works right after i make it, soon breaks also.
what's this about and how do i get the applications folder back and stable?
I just purchased a MBP (prev gen) about a week ago, and I've been noticing something weird in the dock. This usually happens a few minutes after I boot the computer from being completely off, but what seems like an Application quickly shows in my dock and then disappears. It happens in a split second and there's not enough time to see what it is. It just opens and closes. I haven't installed much on this MBP, just Office, Firefox, Visualhub, Mactracker and perian and flip4mac. I have all these Applications installed on my iMac and I have never seen this happen before.

When I run Softare Update (27' iMac, OSX 10.7.3), the application finds the needed updates and displays the usual updates available window. However when I click on Install (whether ot not i open up the details window), the update window disappears, the application icon remains on the dock with the dot uderneath indicating and open application but nothing happens.
I've been noticing a dialog box that appears and disappears in a fraction of a second, just enough to annoy me. It happens at random times, and have noticed it while working in various applications. I've checked Console and determined that this is the culprit.
I have a 20" white 2.16 GHz Intel iMac running OS 10.6.8 with 4GB of memory. Over the past year it has developed an odd fault. Whenever I try to open a folder (or select 'new folder' or 'new finder window' from the drop-down menu), it hangs for a couple of seconds and then all the icons/folders on the desktop disappear, leaving only the dock visible. After about three seconds, the icons/folders all reappear. Oddly, if I persist in trying to open a folder, it eventually succeeds, typically after approximately 20 attempts, although sometimes the first couple of times a window actually does open, it disappears again as soon as I use the scroll bar. Eventually, it always seems to work, but takes around two minutes of frustrating effort to open any folder instead of the normal split second.Â
Has anyone else encountered this problem? I've tried reinstalling the operating system and initialising the hard drive, but the problem still always returns..it's really annoying!
I've recently purchased a 0.5m thunderbolt cable to connect my Macbook pro to my 27" iMac. All is fine until I exit Target Display Mode (apple F2). At that point the cursor disappears. Very annoyingly, I can just about trace it's whereabouts via the various cues on web browser windows, and through trial and error navigate to the apple menu and restart, whereupon it's all back to normal. How I can prevent it from happening?Â
My daughter's old I Mac won't start. It is not backed up. We want to get some things off of it if we can. When we turn it on, we get the Apple logo with spinning wheel for awhile, then a question mark briefly and then a sky blue blank screen. Is there any hope of getting this to work? This computer is out of warranty. Does it seem that if we reinstall the Operating System we might find old data? Â
I was trying to change the theme and I got magnifique and crystal clear not sure witch it is but I cant see the stuff like safari for example I cant see the file, edit, view, history, bookmarks, window, and help things but there there like I can click on theme and the thing will open
after updating to 10.5.7, the battery icon doesn't seem to want to update. info is set to show battery icon and percentage.
after unplugging the mag connector, battery status indicates 100% after 1.75 hours. anyone seen this before? did not notice this happen prior to update.
Is it possible to have a kind of dropdown list of the devices (hard drives, dvd drives, usb drives) from an icon in the menubar? It would be very convenient.
I have this menubar "item" next to apple logo, it highlights blue when I mouse over it, anyone know where does it come from and how do i get rid of it?
I've added the Eject button to my menubar, but its only showing my Superdrive, not my external. Is this correct or can I get my external HD to show up too?
