MacBook Pro :: Battery Indicator Lights Show Full Battery But Won't Turn On?
Apr 2, 2012I have an early 2008 non-unibody MacBook Pro. For about a year now, the status of the battery has been "replace soon." I was still getting a pretty good amount of time off of one charge so I wasn't too worried. This past Saturday morning, I woke up, checked the battery indicator lights on my computer (it had been sleeping since the day before) and it said it had about 60% percent so I opened it. I was on the Internet for about 10 minutes before it shut off without warning.
It wouldn't turn back on when I pressed the power button, so I plugged it in and it turned back on. When I checked, the battery status was "replace now." After using it, I turned it back off and left for NYC for the weekend and didn't bring it with me. When I got home last night, I plugged it in and tried turning it on with no luck. The battery indicator light was flashing one light, so I just assumed it would need to charge for a bit before it would turn back on. After about two hours, when I went to bed, it still was flashing just one light. I kept it plugged in over night, and this morning when I checked it, the battery indicator lights showed that it was fully charged, but it still wouldn't turn on. I still kept it plugged in throughout the day just in case, but it still won't turn on even though all the lights are lit. Is the battery just showing me false information, or should I be worried about more than just the battery?

Jan 14, 2010Before when I used to view pictures they show up in (from what I can remember) Picture...im not sure what else is missing but after a while they started showing up in colorsync which i didnt like then i deleted it and the pictures started showing up in quicktime. Can someone please tell me what is the application i can download so my pictures start showing up in an application that starts with "Picture" because it takes up less room

MacBook :: Won't Show That It Is Running On Battery Power?
Jan 16, 2010I have a MacBook (purchased in May) that has issues with the battery status. When the MagSafe Adapter is plugged in, it shows that the battery is charging, but when the MagSafe Adapter is unplugged from the computer, the computer does not recognize that it is running on battery power. (It still shows that it is running on A/C power.) I have already reset the System Management Controller, and it didn't work. What else can I do?

I calibrate the Battery 2 times but no diffrence the Battery capacity show 98%.

Laptops :: Battery Not Recognized Or Show Zero Percent Charge
Dec 4, 2009I believe the mechanism utilized by my laptop to route power either from the battery or the AC adapter, is faulty. Sometimes when the battery is connected to the laptop, the battery is not recognized and the battery icon has an 'X' in it, other times it shows a charge %. Just recently with a full battery, I removed the AC adapter from the laptop and the laptop immediately powered off as if the battery was not in place.
Assessed:
(equipment age) new linear power cable and new battery purchased in september
(connection) linear connection seems stable
(battery) charges and holds a charge
Possibly linear > battery transistor issue? Repair Options?
OS X :: Unable To Show Up Lacie 500 Drive
Jul 6, 2009I have three external drives daisy chained up to my iMac, an 80, 500 and 1TB. Recently the 500 has failed to show up on the desktop alongside the other drives. I can't remember exactly when it happened, but it may well have been after my computer crashed and forced me to shut it down using the power button.
All other drives appear to be fine, and the 1TB which is daisy chained through the 500 to the 80 shows up just fine. I've checked Disk Utility and there's no sign of the 500 drive there. However in System Profiler there is an "Unkown Device" next to the other drives in the Firewire section.
I've tried the 500 on a G5 and turned it on/off, restarted the computer and all the other usual things.
OS X Mavericks :: Messages App Keeps Switching From Show Pictures And Names To Just Show Pictures
Jun 22, 2014Messages keeps switching the conversation view from "Show Names and Pictures" to just "Show Pictures". This is in the menu under: View > Messages > Show Names and Pictures. I have to change it multiple times a day, including every time I open the app from a closed state.
This is very confusing in group iMessage conversations where all the iMessages are coming from the same grey silhouette icon. The issue is only happening on my Mac mini. It's not happening on my MacBook Air. Both are running Mavericks 10.9.3...So I keep changing the setting here, but it somehow just switches back to Show Pictures only:
OS X :: USB Boot Unable To Show Hard Disk
Jan 3, 2011I've created a Snow Leopard boot disk using this method link. I created it on a 16GB CF Disk. I've tried it twice. First time I formatted the disk as eXfat with 1 partition. Next time I used Mac OS Extended for a 7Gig partition and fat32 for the rest.
Upon boot I get the normal install stuff like I do with the DVD, but then no hard disk shows up. I thought it was because of the eXfat which is why I tried again. I looked into the system profiler and I can see my seagate hard disk, but under disk utility it doesn't exist. My Sata DVD drive shows up though. If I boot off of the DVD I can see and install to my hard disk.
I'm trying to make a USB Disk because I'm planning on getting a SSD and I will be removing the Dvd drive.
This is a Mid 2009 Macbook.

May 6, 2006I normally have my USB cable with me, so if I snap a few pics, I can just connect the USB cable to the camera and iPhoto will get all the photos off of it. But I can't access the videos I take with iPhoto, is there a way for my camera to show up as a drive in OS X so I can copy the video file(s) off of it?

May 17, 2009after updating to 10.5.7, the battery icon doesn't seem to want to update. info is set to show battery icon and percentage.
after unplugging the mag connector, battery status indicates 100% after 1.75 hours. anyone seen this before? did not notice this happen prior to update.
OS X :: Spotlight Function Of Show All Does Not Respond / Unable To Empty Trash
Mar 13, 20091. the Spotlight function of "Show all" does not response when I click on it. I did try it on another account on the same machine and the problem still there.
2. Right click on the Trash bin and selecting "Empty trash" does not do much. I have to go to Finder and selecting "Empty trash. Why is that?
3. In Finder if I am trying to search using the little search space at the top right as I type a couple of letters, it freezes, close unexpectedly and ask me if I want to report the error to Apple.
Are all the problem above related?
4. How can I get a new link in Safari 4 to open in a new tab and not in a new window?

Aug 16, 2009I have seen many nicely designed desktops and most of them have customized menubars, from the different menu icons (like gmail notifier, bowtie, etc) to even the fonts and different apple icons.
I have tried to use Magnifique but, that seems to only change some of it.
My question is, how would I be able to change the fonts and the icons on the menubar? What would I need?

Feb 27, 2009I have a Macbook Pro 2.16 Core Duo, and I'm wanting to install 10.6, but about a year ago, I cracked my screen to the point that I cannot make anything out on it, and haven't replaced it. Instead, I have just been using it in clamshell mode, which has worked out fine so far. My problem is that I cannot get the 10.6 install to show up on my external monitor.
I searched around, and could only find one other similar thread that just ended with the author putting it in clamshell and having it work fine. When I boot to the install and close the screen, I just get a grey box on my external display with a black bar on either side of it. I can't seem to find any other resources, so I'm not entirely sure what to do at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the mirroring not ticked but when I do my HDTV only shows the background of my OS and not the dock nor the menu bar/windows.

Sep 3, 2010So, i bought a used macbook pro (2,2) 15inch 4gb ram, 320gb hd, and it is in GREAT condition, looks brand new. when i saw the laptop, i made sure everything worked, even the usb ports and all is fine.
when i came home, i formatted, and installed Snow Leopard, did ALL the updates before i did anything else. and i just noticed now when i plugged in my 1tb WD Passport it dosnt show up on the desktop, nor the disk utility, however the hard drive light turns on but when i put my hand on the laptop, it dosnt appear to be 'spinning' up.
i tried plugging in USB stick in both USB ports and it works, shows up just fine.
so i dont think it could be the usb ports..
BUT when i plug the same external hard drive on my new i7 imac it shows up.yesterday, i plugged in the same drive into a friends Mac Pro, and had no problems. but i cant seem to figure this out.
OS X :: How To Show Minimized Windows
Dec 6, 2010In expose, when I have "all windows" as one of my hot corners, it only shows non-minimized windows. It used to show all windows----the "open" windows were on top with a bar demarcating them from the "minimized" windows.
In short, when I go to the "hot corner" that is assigned "all windows" I want it to show maximized and minimized windows all at once.
