after updating to 10.5.7, the battery icon doesn't seem to want to update. info is set to show battery icon and percentage.
after unplugging the mag connector, battery status indicates 100% after 1.75 hours. anyone seen this before? did not notice this happen prior to update.
How do I remove the battery icon from Menubar and just leave it as a percentage?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have seen many nicely designed desktops and most of them have customized menubars, from the different menu icons (like gmail notifier, bowtie, etc) to even the fonts and different apple icons.
I have tried to use Magnifique but, that seems to only change some of it.
My question is, how would I be able to change the fonts and the icons on the menubar? What would I need?
I have a Mac 10.6.8 running Snow Leopard. My battery won't charge: all I get is "Not Charging" in the menu bar battery status; the power adapter doesn't light up either. It's not a problem with the battery—when I put my battery in my friend's MacBook, it worked just fine. His battery, however, wouldn't charge either when it was in my computer. I have tried resetting the SMC several times, following the instructions exactly. I've reset the PRAM, run disk repair, and fixed disk permissions. I don't have the money to take it to a repairman—even if I did, I need my computer every day for work.

I just woke my MacBook Air up after charging and I noticed that the menubar icon for the battery was full, but it was RED. It changed back to black after about 5 seconds. Has anybody ever seen this "full" RED status icon in their menubar? I am posting a screenshot so you can see.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy battery was functioning perfectly up until today, the last time I looked at coconut battery it was around 95% capacity with like ~500 cycles. Then today it's struggled to hold 2 hours of charge, coconut battery now says 57% capacity. The strange this is, earlier today it seemed to have gone back to normal, I looked at CB and capacity was back up to 95%. I tried calibrating it and it's all over the shop.
About 2 minutes ago I received the 9 min low battery warning, now it's plugged in and says it only has to charge for 49mins to regain a full charge. I guess it sounds like it's dying, it's at 616 cycles which is fair enough. Lately (last 4/5 months) I've been keeping it plugged in most of the time though which I hadn't before and I'm thinking that's perhaps killed it faster. Anyway is there anything else I can do before replacing it? Or a more comprehensive way to evaluate its health?

So when I bought this the guy said that Apple installed a new battery on it recently. I believe him because when I downloaded the iStat Pro widget it said only 2 or 3 cycles which is because I calibrated the battery. But I just finished charging and the light is green. But it says the charge is only at 97%. I don't see why it should be like this. Also when it's not plugged in the battery only lasts maybe 3 and half hours from just surfing on the internet. But I thought it was supposed to last like 6?(I'm thinking that since mine is an older model, that could be it.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI've just replaced the hard drive in my macbook, and obviously that meant reinstalling Snow Leopard on my machine. Now I seem to be getting issues with my battery that I didn't before with SL, so I'm not entirely sure that's the root of the problem. Yesterday (day SL was installed) I noticed that my battery showed 0% and wouldn't charge, but I was still able to use my computer, and it was in fact on without being plugged in and absolutely fine for a good hour or so. Eventually the battery seemed to go back to normal, would charge, and showed a real percentage of battery life (i.e. 65%).
This morning I turn on my laptop, realise I'd had it plugged in all night, which I never do, and the light on the lead was still orange. Now my battery icon just shows a cross and says there are no batteries available, though again I'm working without my macbook being plugged in to the mains. Is this just a bug that will eventually be fixed? I seriously doubt it's my battery, that was replaced around April time and though I use my laptop a LOT not enough to screw it up that quickly.
Some games seem to close off menu bars and everything else.My daughter plays the sims 3 and sometimes uses battery power, but she always panics that the mac will just shut down due to lack of battery power.
How does she see what the power is at while playing the game? ts normally just in the menu bar, but like i say this game overrides all that info until the game has been quit.

1] Set brightness level to the lowest or most comfortable
2] Turn off Bluetooth/Airport when not in use
3] Try not to use the iSight camera too much
4] Try to do activities that will decrease your battery life only when it's plugged in
5] Put it to sleep instead of shutdown.
6] Keep it plugged in as much as possible, it's okay to use 20-30% of the battery when you're in the bus or in places that has no power adapters. In fact, it makes the MBP healthier.

My magsafe 2 is plugged in but the light's not on. My battery status shows it plugged in, but says "battery is not charging."
I've reset the SMC several times and have been able to get it to work again, sometimes after going through the process several times. Sometimes the yellow light stays on even after I unplug the magsafe.
everytime i go to System Preference > Energy Saver > Options and tick show battery status in menu bar it doesn't work
View 4 Replies View RelatedI think you guys will agree with me, that I have powercycled my battery too much, resulting in a serious loss of performance with my battery.
I have been unplugging my MBP each, and every night, and then using battery during th day until I got the low battery warning, then plugging it in until the evening, and so on.
Looking at the status below, 50+ powercycles in 10 months has reduced the life of my battery by half. Looks like I will invest in a new battery at some point, and follow Apples guidelines to the letter in future.
I was trying to change the theme and I got magnifique and crystal clear not sure witch it is but I cant see the stuff like safari for example I cant see the file, edit, view, history, bookmarks, window, and help things but there there like I can click on theme and the thing will open

View 2 Replies View RelatedOK, this seems to be a fundamental flaw in OSX. I cannot find how to do this:
- I have a MBP and an external monitor and I want to use only one at a time.
- I want to use the optimal resolution for each monitor.
- It seems the only way to put the dock and menubar in both monitors is by mirroring, but that sets the external monitor at a lower resolution.
- I don't want to have to drag the menubar from one to the other.
I just installed SL, and it seems as if all my menubar icons have disappeared. I have tried fixing permissions and that did not seem to help.
