OS X V10.7 Lion :: Menubar Cannot Display In Full Screen
Jun 23, 2012
I have a strange problem in fullscreen mode, on my Macbook pro 15".I LOVE fullscreen, and infact the next macbook I will get is the 11" air because of its size and because full screen is so nice to work with.Suddenly the menubar will not display it self when I move the mouse to the top of the screen. The only way I can access the menu bar is by exiting full screen (ctrl + Cmd + F) and the toggel it back on after I have used the menubar. This actually makes fullscreen mode useless and its driving me nuts, because this should not happen on Apple software. I would expect these sorts of behaviour on windows but not in osx.
I just purchased a Mac Mini and am using a DVI to HDMI cable to connect it to my 42" Sony KDF-E42A10. I am unable to achieve full-screen resolution and downloaded SwitchResX to manually adjust the display. Does anyone know the timing parameters for the Sony or how to achieve full-screen resoltuion?
I have seen many nicely designed desktops and most of them have customized menubars, from the different menu icons (like gmail notifier, bowtie, etc) to even the fonts and different apple icons.
I have tried to use Magnifique but, that seems to only change some of it.
My question is, how would I be able to change the fonts and the icons on the menubar? What would I need?
I bought the Mini Display Port to HDMI & HDMI to HDMI cables to hook my MacBook Air to my HDTV. I don't want mirroring. I want my HDTV to be a separate display. I have the mirroring not ticked but when I do my HDTV only shows the background of my OS and not the dock nor the menu bar/windows.
It is pretty good as a secondary display But is it possible to watch hulu using safari on the secondary isplay full screen. (hulu)And use my MacBook Pro to do other things at the same time? This is giving me trouble. Also anybody have any luck using pip with a samsung lcd tv?
For some reason VLC starts very slowly and lags when playing some H264 in mkv anime. So I turn to Mplayer. Is there a way to make it full screen. I tried every button but none seems to work.
I noticed that after upgrading to Lion quicktime player won't play movies full screen on my second display. Under Snow Leopard if the quicktime window was on the second display and you hit full screen it would fill the display is was on. Now the video slides to the main display and then goes full screen. There doesn't seem to be any way to change that behavior. There are no preferences.
The only work around is to move the menu bar in the display preferences to the second menu, so that the second monitor becomes the main one.

I just woke my MacBook Air up after charging and I noticed that the menubar icon for the battery was full, but it was RED. It changed back to black after about 5 seconds. Has anybody ever seen this "full" RED status icon in their menubar? I am posting a screenshot so you can see.
I have a Samsung 2033SW hooked up to my mac and whenever I play video full-screen on on screen (either the laptop or the samsung), the other screen blacks out. This happens whether I use VLC, RealPlayer or Quicktime. How do I set it up so that I can play full-screen video on one and still be able to use the other screen for other stuff?
I'm pretty sure it's not because there aren't enough resources because I can still play "fit-to-screen" on one screen and still have access to the other screen.
Display profile changes-the color correctness- changes whenever I enter fullscreen mode in-game, in dvd player, etc. Absolutely spontaneously. When I exit fullscreen it recovers to regular display profile. My regular display profile is "color LCD", and it changes to .
I have everything connected and working to display my MBP to my Sony Bravia HDTV. I am using the TV as a second display. When I choose full screen for my iTunes movie, it goes black. The iTunes movie plays in reduced screen. Does anyone have a solution how I can play full screen?
I am trying to play a couple of games on my mac mini 2010 and when they play full screen I only get 4:3 display and I cant get it to stretch to widescreen. I have tried all resolutions but the game still goes to 4:3 when I select fullscreen. I have my Mini connected to a 40" tv via HDMI.
Just wondering if there is a way to have videos in iTunes play full screen on a secondary display. I know you can do it in Quicktime, VLC and eyeTV with terminal... but all my content is in iTunes..Can anyone help?I take it from this overwhelming responce that it is not possible to do??
The full screen mode of Preview always shows a small grey bubble on the botton of the screen that indicates the page number. I would like to remove this page numbering. Is that possible? Since the page numbers are not on the pdf itsself but created by Preview I could not find how to remove them. I added a screen shot to indicate which page numbering I mean.

I used MacbookPro(2011 8,2), after install update 10.7.2 include today 10.7.3, all system will go freeze every time I click full-Screen button. it freezed in go full-Screen animation, and always played half of the animation and freezed. I find out if I used my AMD 6750 GPU, all problems are missing.
The logs I found below are repeated once and once again while system freeze: 12-1-26 下午9:38:16.000 kernel: **** Debug info for apparent hang in Main graphics engine ****12-1-26 下午9:38:16.000 kernel: ring head = 0x000023b4, wrap count = 0x 012-1-26 下午9:38:16.000 kernel: ring tail = 0x00003470 ring control = 0x00003001 enabled, auto report disabled, not waiting,
I consider this an oddity in Lion. I have two monitors. If I have Mail open in the left one and let's say Address book on the right one, and I put Mail into full screen mode, the other monitor goes gray. So no way to have one monitor in full screen mode and still use the second monitor!

I installed Lion yesterday. I cannot take Mail window out of full screen mode. There is no double arrow in the upper right corner. I hate it being this large. In fact, I don't like this Mail program at all. Moving the cursor up does not do anything. No Menu Bar appears. The only way I can get out of Mail is command Q.
I accidently did something that made Safari go full screen and the top navigation with the Apple icon, File, Edit etc, menu disappeared. I pressed esc to go back to normal viewing mode.
Whenever I try to use Screen Sharing to control this one particular Mac Mini, and someone else is using the mini, and I pick "Connect to Virtual Display", I get dropped to a grey linen screen. Like the login screen, but without a list of usernames or anything. There it sits. Here is what I see in the console of the mac mini when I try and use a virtual display from the other machine:
3/10/12 7:30:04.291 AM mds: (Error) Backup: Couldn't stat source path '/Users/glados/Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.finder.savedState/window_3.data' -- importing from backup path instead 3/10/12 7:34:01.706 AM [0x0-0x9009].com.apple.systempreferences: System Preferences(148,0x7fff76017960) malloc: reference count underflow for 0x400440ce0, break on auto_refcount_underflow_error to debug.
I'm getting a high resolution, and it looks alright, but it's not fully using the widescreen. That's "aspect" right? Well anyway, I also have a 19" display and it works perfectly. My Xbox, cable box and movies all use the full widescreen on the Acer, but the Macbook with the super amazing Mini DisplayPort doesn't even use the full resolution. What's with that? I thought the reason they had this new port and a $30 adapter was for higher resolutions!
The title says it all really... Quite a simple problem that I can't find any answer to!
I've hooked up my 30" Apple Cinema Display to the new iMac 27" and the highest resolution I'm getting as an option is 1280x800... The iMac correctly detects the ACD as a Cinema HD display but limits my resolution. Why oh why?!
when i turn on my mac it comes up with a gray apple logo, and then a loading bar comes up underneath, it stays like this for about 3mins and then logs in. once it has logged in i find it has taken my computer back a few days and is getting very annoying because i loose all the work i did before i turned it off.
Whenever I make a window full screen, it always moves to the end of the spaces. I have 4 spaces, so my full screen windows always move next to the 4th space without me doing anything.
How to stop pages opening in Full Screen Mode? This occurs on most software and is very annoying when you have a large monitor with one small picture taking up the whole screen.PLUS trying to reduce the size of the screen means the cursor has to find a tiny one pixel area in the corner in order to reduce the screen size. This takes up a lot of time when working on several images.(enlarging the cursor size is not an answer and makes it worse because it's hard to exactly align the cursor with the text or else it edits the wrong line of text).
when using apps in full screen mode the spotlight shortcut cmd+space doesn't work anymore.
E.g. safari in fullscreen mode, I tap cmd+space and nothing happens, if I move the mouse on top of the screen the bar appears and cmd+space is restored
I just switched from Oultook 2011 to Lion Mail. I have 2 different accounts, Office 365/Exchange 2010 and iCloud. I noticed that when I reply to any message while is full screen mode, the reply icon is not showing up. The reply icon is the curved arrow pointing left for replies.
I seem to have the following problem. not sure exactly how it started as my wife was using the mac at the time (she says she just dragged the safari to different desktop via mission control) but now the situation is as follows:
When I hit safari icon it switches on (I can see the little light dot underneath the icon and after right click I can see names of windows that are opened) however I can only see the Safari menu at the top but no window. If I scroll to the right or left to different desktops it's not there, the same goes if I double tap to see the Mission Control mode it's not there...
I so far figured out that once the Safari menu is visible on top of the screen I can go to View>Enter Full Screen and then Safari will come back into the full screen mode but once I unclick the full screen button in right top corner the whole window just swoops into the right top corner and it's nowhere to be found again.
