So here is my issue. I want to transfer all my personal data from my HOME user account on my MacBook to a NEW user account on the SAME MacBook. The reason is that my Microsoft Office has a certain issue that is only solvable by starting up in a new user. So now I want to transfer all the personality, data, files, and all that from my home user to the new user on the same computer. After that, I want to delete the old Home user and make the new user the default home user account.
I have sold my pro book to a friend and need to remove all my information. How do I do that?

I just bought a new MB on craigslist and i want to delete the old user's information and change it to mine--
the address submitted on day 1 of the computer
where it says "David Doan's (old owner) Macbook"
However, whenever I open up Mail, it asks for login details, and suggests my name already. Is there anyway to remove that without doing another install of the OS (SL).
Essentially what I'm asking is when you input the information when you setup your new Mac (Apple ID, Name, Address and so on), is it possible to change without re-installing Mac OS X 10.6?
My hard drive got erased - is there anyway to transfer my calendar, photos, etc. from my iPhone / iPad back to my computer?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new macbook pro and I would like to have access to my old files and pictures that were on my old computer. I backed up my older mac onto an external hardrive using timemachine. Can I access those files without "downloading" it all onto my new computer? If so, how? If I can't, do I just need to get a new external hardrive and manually copy those files onto it from my old computer? I still have it and it is still working, just slowly.Â

Just bought a new iMac and I'm not completely familiar with Lion yet. I cannot figure out how to get my browsers to retain user/pass information. When I am prompted to save U/P info from a site I click yes, but when I go back to the site the sign-in info is gone.Â

My computer says that the storage disk is almost full, and when I looked at my storage information it says I have too many movies. So I went back into iTunes and I try to delete my movies (which are all under iCloud) and they aren't removed from my computer nor does space clear on my computer.

My activity monitor says I'm suing 122.43 GB of virtual memory. I'm sure that the number is much, much less. But I would still like to reset the virtual memory.
Are there any terminal commands to rest the vm?
Just curious of the proper "legal use" of a OS X single user retail disk. Can install multiple copies of 10.6 on more than 1 hard drive that is intended for the same computer. i know i can but im meaning ethically if i can.

I have had the problem of getting the message that the computer name is already in use on the network (it isn't) and adds a number to my user computer i.e. username Mac Pro (3). It just changed last week to (2), and the name change interfered with several pieces of software that look for a specific user. Now it is up to (3).Â
I removed the (3) behind the the name in the System Preferences/Sharing, but the username Mac Pro (2) now shows in the shared computers, will not connect, and I can't find a way to remove it

10 years of using Mac and I don't even know how to wipe my computer. I sold my computer on ebay and have backed up all of my important apps, docs and such, but I don't really know how to delete my user account. I know there's an option to delete accounts, but it won't let me because I guess i'm the only account on there. anyone know how I can make it so my computer is fresh and clean for the next user?

My wife and I have separate user accounts on the same MacBook Pro so that we can both sync our phones to this computer. My account is the primary user account, and my iTunes library is stored in this account. My wife would like to put music on her iPhone so she can run, but I can't seem to access the music library thru her account. I know the files are all on the hard drive regardless, so I just need to know how I can make iTunes on my wife's account access the library that's there. I've tried the steps I could find on Apple's website, but I can't seem to make it work. I'm running the latest versions of everything - even tho the post says I'm running 10.9.1, I'm actually running 10.9.4
