I opened up iCal and discovered a TON of ToDo items piled up from when I quit using iCal. I really don't want to delete each one by hand. I do not really want to reset it. I want to keep the Calendars, just delete the ToDos. (I actually use BusyCal, which rocks! but it syncs with iCal so I am clearing out iCal first). I've googled it and cannot find anything but how to reset the whole thing. Any way to sync the Calendars on 2 computers and an iPhone without Lion?

My computer is a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X Version 10.7.3, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 with 4GB memory. Start-up has become somewhat erratic. Consistently, if I close the lid on the computer it won't restart when I reopen it. I'll have to hold the power button down for about 15 seconds, let up and then press it again. Sometimes restarting after a shutdown the computer will go through the long start-up I associate with a crash shutdown. Sometimes login start-up items don't start up. Sometimes I have to click somewhere on the screen to make the menu bar at the top of the screen visible. Overall, unexpected things keep happening. Although I don't think it probably relates, Chrome is my primary browser.

I have been trying to download the new Yosemite update and kept getting an error message regarding the download. When I finally figured out what was going on, it appears that I don't have very much room on my hard drive to allow Yosemite to download. As you can see, the large problem is found in the movies and other categories. This brings me to my question.
1.) How can I clear up the 'other' clutter effectively, despite not knowing what falls into the 'other' category?
2.) Without having an external hard drive, is there a way to transfer movie purchases from iTunes to either USB drives or something simple to free up some more space? I don't want to outright delete anything, as I'm afraid that I'd lose the purchase, and therefore, the money spent. However, I'm not opposed to getting an inexpensive external hard drive.
I don't have a CD drive--just 2 USB ports and 1 for a memory card, so hopefully that won't inhibit storage options.

I've selected Recent Items in Finder Prefs to show 15 apps, documents etc., and it rarely shows more than 2 documents. And those 2 tend to be older files, not what I've been working on that day. I'm on Yosemite on an iMac.

I have an Intel IMAC, which is now out of warranty as I have had it for 16 months (and I was dumb enough not to get AppleCare). A few days back, my computer would not startup and everytime I hit the power button, I would hear some spinning noise but no chime from the iMAC. Yesterday, I tried it again and this time I heard the chime but the monitor did not start. I was then able to SSH into the MAC and see that it is indeed connected to the network and booted up, but the screen is still dead. Any ideas what I should do before the painful trip to the apple store ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter connecting the imac to a new router the system hung completely up. After each input, e.g. opening preview or a browser, the coloured turning disc appeared and nothing happened anymore. Several restarts, also in safe mode, were unsuccessful. I could not switch to another user. Restart is only possible at all from installation disc but thereafter problem remains the same.

managed to boot to Leopard install disk. backed into Disk Utility.... Verify System Disk produces: "Invalid B-tree node size...Disk Verify / Repair fail".
too bad too sad... no more information.
I don't know enough to know whether this is a SW failure or a drive failure, and my searches has led me here.
Also, my very first post in a forum, I read the rules and I hope I have found the right forum for this query.
I want to close down a user account. When I go into Users in System Preferences and chose the account I want to close it starts going through the motions of deleting the account, then, comes up with an error saying I can't delete this account.Â
I have tried many times. I have even removed files so that I have 200GB of disk space etc.Â

When my Mac boots it opens load of apps in my menu bar (InsomniaX, iAlertU, LogMeIn, EverNote) this is annoying, uses memory (probably) and it makes it look cluttered how do i stop them from loading.
I have checked the preferences in each app and there is nothing there and there is nothing in Login items in accounts in system prefs.
When I log into my System Profiler, I see that I have three items listed to StartUp. These items I do not use.
Now when I go into System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items, these items are not listed.
When I go into my Library, StartupItems is not listed.
I've have run a search for StartupItems on the entire machine but it's not located anywhere. Does anyone have an idea on how I may remove these items from my Start up?
I just installed an update to MAC Office 2011. I receive the following message when I attempt to open Office 2011, "An older version of the Microsoft Database Daemon is running. To open outlook, 1st delete the daemon from the startup items."
