View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new macbook pro and I would like to have access to my old files and pictures that were on my old computer. I backed up my older mac onto an external hardrive using timemachine. Can I access those files without "downloading" it all onto my new computer? If so, how? If I can't, do I just need to get a new external hardrive and manually copy those files onto it from my old computer? I still have it and it is still working, just slowly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an old dell computer...about three years. And recently (like a few months ago) it kinda died. When I boot it up it comes up with the "DELL" loading screen, except this time it has about a dozen green lines going down the screen. And then after that screen the computer just dies. I think my only choice is a complete wipe of the drive since I can't even get into bios or anything but thought I might post here first.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI use an HP 17 inch laptop as well. Set up Airport Extreme and everything seems to be working. Is there a way to use my iMac as a monitor for the Dell computer?
I really love this monitor so much I hate to hook the Dell up to my Dell 24 inch monitor and would rather give up that monitor and gain desk space. The only other option is to use a Samsung 40 inch LED TV as my Dell's monitor.
I use the iMac for video, pictures and music. I have Windows 7 running via Parallels but would rather just use the new Dell as a Windows computer and the iMac for personal use.
I'm looking for a new monitor to go with my MBP, and I'm stuck trying to choose between the ones listed above.
The 2407WFP is a couple of years old now I guess, but it's the rev A04 version, which supposedly fixed the (few) problems with what was otherwise meant to be a great screen. It's an sPVA screen.
I've heard good reviews of the G2410, with its LED backlighting. It's still a TN panel and I hear so much bad stuff about them.
The 2209WA is an eIPS panel which I like the sound of, but it's smaller and lower resolution.
The F2380 is a cPVA panel, the image quality looks better but I've heard bad things about blacks on this panel.
I have my dad's old mac book pro and am wondering if it is possible to change the information to my information. For example when I emailed my wife an invitation on icalendar my dad got it as well on his email.

remote disc has worked previously between my daughters MacBook and my MacBook air, so I was not expecting any problem with my Company supplied Dell 420.
The Dell has a remote disc drive, and I suspect this could have something to do with the situation, but would like to know if I am right.
Basically my Air has no problem detecting the Dell and as soon as I "ask to use", the dell will show the pop-up, and I can confirm or accept that my air is allowed to use the disc drive of the Dell.
I just moved into a new place and my next door neighbor has told us that we can use his wireless connection. I have no problem connecting via my macbook but my fiance has an older Dell laptop that will not connect for some reason. It is recognizing the network but it will not connect. My question is, is there a way for me to connect her computer to the internet through my macbook wirelessly or does if have to be connected through an ethernet or usb cable? Her wireless card does work because before we moved it worked fine throught the router that we had in our house but now.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe text looks a lot different from the Macbook's display. I got it to 1080p and stuff - and yes, it's showing the full 1080p. But how do I get the text to look more like the Mac's text? My Macbook display looks so much sharper. The text on the Dell looks very not anti-aliased...it isn't thick, etc.

I tried the Bluetooth connect wizard on the Mac and it could not locate the Keyboard. Is there anything else I could try? Is there an USB adpater for the Mac so that it will locate the keyboard.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got a 15" MBP and would like to hook it up to a 24" Dell Ultrasharp I inherited. However, I know nothing about the button settings on the monitor.
When I connect the two, the MBP background shows up on the Dell monitor but the icons that run along the bottom of the MBP screen are cut off. I'm assuming I need to change the monitor settings but don't know what I'm doing.
I've connected my 30" Dell 3007WFP display to my Macbook Pro 15" Retina laptop with Apple's adapter for Thunderbolt to DVI-D Dual Link. The display is only receiving Single Link instead of Dual Link, limiting the resolution to 1280x800 instead of 2560x1600.
Has anyone else seen this problem? On the forums at macrumors.com, a few other people have reported this issue. One person there has reported that his adaptor (same model as I have) provided this display with Dual Link when connected to a Macbook Air but not when connected to the MBP Retina. If that's true, then it sounds like there's a defect in the MBP Retina. At the least, should I return the adapter until Apple makes some kind of a statement about whether this can be fixed?
Info:
Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), 15" Retina
Both are capable of 2560x1600 pixel resolution. Display preferences shows max 1920x1080@60Hz. How do I enable higher resolutions?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've followed the steps to migrate the info from my work mac to my MacBook, but have copied over absolutely everything. It has meant that my original address book is now blank and I am unsure what other programs may have been affected. I am unsure whether to migrate the information back to the work mac and clean up the macbook and start again. Can someone advise me - but in layman's terms as I do not understand technical words!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been searching for a vertical laptop stand for awhile now, since I use my MacBook Pro and my Dell Inspiron both in clamshell mode and connected to the same monitor. There were some pricy options out there ranging from $40 to $300, and then I found the perfect solution at the thrift store today for $1.50: a napkin holder.I bought one very similar to the one pictured here, and will be sanding it down and painting it black. It works extremely well as a vertical stand, and I'm getting a second for the Dell. Forget overpriced stands and repurpose something
