I'm selling my Macbook in the morning and was wondering how do I clear all my personal information and my iTunes account before he picks it up.I'm hopeing some one won't say use the install discs ?
I want to buy a new MBP but I want to sell my old MBP on either ebay or craigslist. What the best way to clear the HD of all personal info? I have already had my credit card number stolen and I don't want to go through anything like that again.
I am selling my Macbook Pro and need to wipe all my personal data off of it. I gave the guy buying it the option of me cleaning it out and leaving the applications and essentials on it or just putting in my install disk and wiping it all together. I was wondering if there was a simple way to ensure that my data is off of it (I've done tax returns on it, personal photos, etc...) without clearing data he is just going to have to put right back on it (Firefox, Photoshop, etc...)I thought I could create a new admin account and delete my user account but I just want to be sure that is enough and I couldn't find a solid answer searching the forums. This is the first time I've had to create a new post and haven't just found it by searching, I know how much we all hate repetitive threads.
I cant sem to clear my password and username data from firefox 3.6.13!
For example on this website, gmail etc it already has my username and password already filled in. i tried to delete all content, browsing history, cookies etc through the Preferences>Privacy menu but with no success - the content is still there.
I've searched the forums, but nothing seems to answer my question specifically. I'm giving my computer to my mother and I wanted to permanently wipe all my data/documents for two reasons: 1. To allow her the maximum amount of space and 2. To clear up any embarrassing emails... etc. which I know I have. So,I diligently went in and erased all my mail from "Mail".I went into Users/MyName/Library -etc and found anything mail related and deleted that (as far as I could tell I was erasing all my folders, in box, out box, downloaded files etc.) I also hit "empty trash" after I deleted stuff. However, when I did a search using "spotlight" it was showing up old emails I thought I had permanently deleted. Eek! I found this by accident when I was teaching my mother about "spotlight". My mother's not computer savvy enough to even remember how to use spotlight... but nevertheless I don't want my stuff on there. Other than doing a clean swipe of my hard drive and reinstalling the operating system. (i had OS X 10.3.9) and a friend updated me to OS X 10.4 - yes for free... naughty me... I don't feel guilty coz I did buy a whole new computer coz my 3 1/2 year old couldn't do what I wanted anymore - ie burn dvds, video record, wifi, more than 40GB HD... so they made a lot of money out of me! Anyway. I also don't really want to wipe the applications just in case something happens to my new computer. I'd like to be able to use the old one as a back up.....
I'm in the process of selling my iMac G5 (I'm getting a new iMac). I've got all my personal data backed up onto an external hard drive. The question I have is regarding my G5 - what's the best way of deleting all my personal data on it? Should I reinstall Tiger using the CD that came with the system and do a complete "Erase and Install", or is there a simpler way?
I got my first Mac yesterday after years of crappy Window PCs....the lower end 15 Mac Pro. I had to get Office to make it compatible with PCs otherwise I would have got iWork. I also use Firefox as my web browser. and i know i dont need antivirus but i would like some type of protection. so my question is: what free programs would protect you against privacy and personal issues such as data or spyware? And against Microsoft Office viruses that it brings in? And I know people don't like Java and you should block it?
I have tried very hard to find the answer to my transferring question, but nowhere do I find my answer nor does Apple offer free help or even help by email.
So here is my issue. I want to transfer all my personal data from my HOME user account on my MacBook to a NEW user account on the SAME MacBook. The reason is that my Microsoft Office has a certain issue that is only solvable by starting up in a new user. So now I want to transfer all the personality, data, files, and all that from my home user to the new user on the same computer. After that, I want to delete the old Home user and make the new user the default home user account.
My activity monitor says I'm suing 122.43 GB of virtual memory. I'm sure that the number is much, much less. But I would still like to reset the virtual memory.
The ols PC laptop next to meshows and connects to the new iphone personal hotspot I just setup, but there is no sign of the thing under wifi in the (also new) Macbook Pro.

So I am selling my early 2011 MacBook Pro and have been having a lot of trouble getting people to buy it at my asking price... So I was thinking of ways I can get it at the price I wanted and thought to use the software on the computer as a selling point. Well it worked and I have all of adobe CS5 on it along with Microsoft Office for mac and windows 7 as a partition. Well I got a buyer who is interested primarily because of the software and I want to sell it but just keep the applications on it. What can I do to protect myself by getting rid of any personal information? Do I just go to my key chain and wipe it clean and wipe all my documents? The licensing for the applications won't be an issue for me so I don't care about that.Â

My family shares a large iMac, i have my own personal account with my iTunes account on it. Most of my music that is on my iTunes is downloaded from my personal CDs, so when i sign in on iTunes on my newly bought MacBook Pro, it does not pick it up. I am trying to find a way to transfer my music on my personal iTunes on the family Mac to my new MacBook Pro.
I have a MacBook Pro with OS 10.7 software. I am trying to connect to a WPA2-Personal Wifi Network with TKIP. My computer cannot detect the network but I know that there is not a problem with the router as my roommate's PC connects without a problem. I do not feel comfortable making changes to the router's settings as it does not belong to me but is there anything I can do with my computer to fix this?
I would like two sections to my address book, my personal section and my companies section. To try and achieve this I have set up a group which has all my company contacts in. I use Mail to receive my company emails but when I go to add an address to the address book I cant work out how to automatically put it into my company contacts group.

i just got a new macbook pro 13" laptop and am trying to transfer my itunes music as well as some data i have compiled into a single folder from my (2005) Powerbook G4 12" laptop. Please help me out with this i have no idea how to do this and the Apple Store said they will do it for $100 and i just poured every penny i own into this computer and cannot sell me old computer to pay bills until i transfer this data.
I have lost all my data from my harts drive. The laptop is under warranty. I have been told that they have replaced my hard drive but could not get any data off the old one. I have now lost all my data, photos, files, music etc. NO backups, only simply because i did not know how to do them. Is there any way of getting the files back? All my work spreadsheets and accounts were also lost.
Just got a MacBook Air, running 10.7.3 and noticing that on many web sites (firefox and safari are the same), the images just are not clear. They are a bit fuzzy, and some have some sort of weird border around them. I have attached a screen shot of the amazon home page. Notice the weird gray area around the letters and images? Is there a setting or something that can make this better?
I have a Macbook Pro 15" from Mid 2010 and today I went and bought a Mini displayport to HDMI connection so I could use a TV as a monitor and clamshell.Â
The TV is an Emerson LC220EM1. Which is a 22" monitor.Â
I am having problems getting the TV to have clear resolution, It is okay, but its definitely not as clear as it could be.Â
Also when I put them in mirror mode, the top bar is cut off on the external monitor.
