View 9 RepliesI have a broken lower case near the cd super drive entrance. My macbook pro is a early 2008 Peryn one. I was wondering if you guys know what kind of product I could use to make it stick right there. Would you guys just leave it alone, not try to glue it or something? Here are some pictures: [URL]

I believe the first batch of these shipped this week.
How long do you think it will take before these make their way into macbook pros?

I have 15" MacBookPro 3,1 and the lower 1/4 of the screen will just freeze up randomly. I can gently touch the lower right portion of the screen and it revives(refreshes) but I know its not good for it and it seems to be getting worse. display is shorting out. Any one else have a solution or idea of repair cost? Still a good computer! Just put Lion on it and it runs great, 4 years strong.

The black strip that covers the hinge on my mbp (the one beneath the MacBook Pro writing) is getting increasingly loose. It slides left and right and also makes clicking noises whenever the lid is opened / shut. Obviously this is a cosmetic annoyance, but as ever, this wasn't the cheapest of laptops so faults like this are quite annoying. Anyone else had similar issues? Also is there way of taking it off and repositiong it without having to take too much of the machine apart?

I have a late 2008/early 2009 MBP (The one with the ExpressCard slot, 15") and there is something new on my monitor that just happened recently. White spots.
Should I take it in to the genius bar? I already have had 2 issues with the laptop and they fixed it (flickering).
My macbook has the glass trackpad (7,1).The ride side is lower than the left after 1 month of use?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just downloaded coconut battery and its says that my original battery capacity was 4100 mAh. it says that the current capacity is 4410 mAh. I don't understand this, how can it be? Also it says my mac is 8 weeks old so this must be the creation date as I brought this mac this week.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWell I had finally received my MBP today and was really excited to finally have it. I turn it on and the first thing I notice is that dead pixel in the lower middle of the screen. Just one freaking pixel.......but I already called apple care and they have a new one shipping out and mine is at a fedex.
For the 15 minutes I did use it though I was happy haha, now the waiting game begins again...
Lower track pad functions will not work on my MBP...right / left click functions. All other areas work fine and wireless mouse works as substitution. This issue just start upon start up today. Track pad was working last night.

Towards the lower right hand side of my monitor there is a series of pixels that are dimmer than all the rest. It forms basically a backwards J. It is most obvious when there is a white background (like on this site). Is this something that would be covered with Apple Care?
View 4 Replies View Relatedhow much would the repair of this damage will cost? geesh i forgot to remove my iphone wire/connector that was resting in the keyboard of my mac, then suddenly i accidentally closed the screen of the laptop. then afterwards, i heard a cracking sound. plain carelessness. what should i do? will the replacement of this damaged glass costly? i do hope MacCenters in Manila can fix this. i'm heading tomorrow to the nearby MacCenter.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just noticed that on a black background, my 17" i7 MacBook Pro has two areas in the lower middle area of the screen, where the backlight is too bright compared to the rest of the screen. It is very noticeable on a black background and grey.. Is anyone else having this problem?
Other things I noticed:
- there was dust on the plastic cover that you take off the case when you use it for the first time
- the aluminium enclosure was slightly dirty, could be rubbed off though..
- there are two minor 'impurities' in the aluminium (?!).. two tiny grey spots/blemishes basically
- there were a few minor scratches on the aluminium casing.
- the apple logo at the back glows in a much warmer (yellow-ish) colour than the previous generation mbp (?!)
- the screen seems not as bright as the previous generation
- the keyboard backlight seems not as bright as the previous generation
my Applecare finally expired in January '10. Just before it expired, I had the palmrest/keyboard/trackpad replaced (among other things) for the THIRD time due to the well-known cracking issue. Now that it's expired, I notice that yet again there's a chip missing out of the lower right corner of the palmrest. I know that the newer palmrest/keyboard/trackpad (with the iTunes controls on the F-keys) from the later Macbooks is backward-compatible with mine. Are they any more or less durable than the palmrest from the late 2006 models?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust did the latest Mac software update a few days ago and noticed that my MBA runs hotter (fans are constantly screaming) and the battery life now is about 1:15 hours on a full charge versus 3:30 hours before. Anyone else experiencing the same issue?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen i bought my macbook, it has a small crack on the lower right hand corner about 2-3 inches away from the trackpad, ive tried to find a new piece, i think its called a bottom bezzel? I may have that wrong, but does anyone know where i can get a new piece from? The crack isnt major or anything, just a little annoying. I dont need the bottom piece, just the gray part that goes over the keyboard If anyone knows where i can get one,
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am getting a Macbook Pro where the native resolution will be 1440 x 900 (I think).
Some older games (that I like to still play) do not support wide screen resolutions. On my PC this isn't an issue because under the nvidia control panel there is an option to tell the resolution not to scale. You get a black border around your screen if you do this, but at least it doesn't stretch it which looks awful.
Logic Pro 8 and I can't seem to find where I can lower the amount of volume my microphone takes in. I'm only doing this for fun, I only have the internal mic right now. But I know where it is in garageband but can't find it in LP8. where that option is? When I do louder vocals, it sounds distorts and it's annoying. But it works out quite well in garageband if I lower the mic volume

How Come Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard's system requirements are higher than Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard's if it has a lower footprint and makes everything run smoother?
How come after every new Mac OS X the system requirements are higher than the previous version?
I have just purchased a new Mac Pro (august 2014) basic configuration ( see below)
Quad-Core and Dual GPU
3.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5 processor
12GB 1866MHz DDR3 ECC memory
Dual AMD FirePro D300with 2GB GDDR5 VRAM each
256GB PCIe-based flash storage
From reviews seen so far the 4K monitors available do not achieve the 60Hz refresh rate...
The other issue is that the price of these displays is somewhat extravagant at the moment and since I intend to use my Mac pro for other applications and not Video and Photo editing I would like to ask whether a display of resolution (say 1920X1080) would work with my new Mac Pro.

I'm thinking of buying an ACD 27inch. Given that I need to view the monitor from a greater distance than normal (music/recording uses) and that sometimes I find the text in some apps a little too small at that resolution, I was wondering how the display looks on the lower resolution for increased text size? I tried it in the store on 1920x1080 and it appeared to be quite readable and the text was nice and big even though the image was not as sharp. I assume this is the same as running a 24inch ACD in terms of real estate but with bigger text. I think the ppi would be lower for the 27 inch on 1080p resulting in bigger and more easily readable text for my purposes. Although the screen didn't appear as sharp on the lower resolution, the text seemed OK and there didn't seem to be any limitations to viewing. So, in general is there much distortion or is it usable for most tasks if one needs the bigger text or should I go for the lower screen size. From the store it seemed like it would satisfy me, but I want to know if there are distortion issues and if text and images are still decent?
Also, due to the glossy screen in a room with windows, is it important to close all the blinds in the day time to reduce glare? What kind of light source is recommended in the room in terms of brightness level? I have two windows with light curtains that allow strong sunlight through.
My laptop starts getting really hot, especially under my hands. Is there a way to get OS X or something to turn the fan on when the laptop is at a lower temperature?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a copy of Sim City classic, I tried installing on my MBP, no classic/can't lower the screen resolution low enough. I picked up a Power Mac 5500/225 from work, figuring it would do the trick. I can't get the graphics any lower then 256, the game wants 16! It also has a black and white game, but even after I turned the monitor to black and white, restarted, still didn't see it as two tone. I love the original version of the game, and even though I know people claim you can play on the Maxis site, they never send me a log in, no matter how many times I try

I don't lose any of my information though when it does that. It just goes into a sleep mode I guess? Anyways, is this a feature from the lion update? Something standard?

1440x900 resolution of the new MacBook Air 13.3" screen is simply too high, making everything way too small and straining on my eyes. Is there a replacement LED LCD panel with a lower resolution (1280x800 like the old MBA) that could be retrofitted?

"logic" is a PC Server (specifically, a Windows 2003 SBS Server with Exchange 2003) on my network. My question is simple: How to get this item to show as "Logic", with a capital "L"? It bugs me that "logic" starts with a lower-case "l".
We have an old eMac but it works pretty well for our daughter's needs. We have a mysterious problem where the lower case 'r' won't work. I thought the keyboard was faulty and bought a new one but have the same problem with that so it's in the system somewhere. The uppercase R works.
