We have an old eMac but it works pretty well for our daughter's needs. We have a mysterious problem where the lower case 'r' won't work. I thought the keyboard was faulty and bought a new one but have the same problem with that so it's in the system somewhere. The uppercase R works.

I have about 50 *.mp3's on my hard drive that have the file names in all upper case. When looking at them in itunes it drives me nuts....Is there a way to convert the uppercase file name to lowercase? I have googled but can't find anything. I do not want to do it manually, that would take a long time =( thanks, I'm crossing my fingers

"logic" is a PC Server (specifically, a Windows 2003 SBS Server with Exchange 2003) on my network. My question is simple: How to get this item to show as "Logic", with a capital "L"? It bugs me that "logic" starts with a lower-case "l".
I had problems with my G5 (2005) and the repair shop changed te mother board under warranty. The computer came back with a defect DVD/CD writer that was working before they change mother board. I sent back the computer and they repaired it again. Computer came back and now the letter H (lower case) is not working. I tried several keyboard and the letter H lower case does not work but upper case H works. The repair shop cannot find the problem. I reinstalled OSX, reformatted my a disk and nothing is working to correct the problem.

I have downloaded the latest macam and installed it, dragged the component over to the folder, and copied the component into the library/quicktime folder. When I open macam it recognizes that I have the ps3 eye hooked up, but the screen is black. Skype and yahoo also recognize the camera, but the cam monitor screen is black. I really want this to work, and have seen many posts from people with the emac/eye/macam combo and a lot of people have said it works.

Since upgrading from Mountain Lion to Mavericks (10.9.4), I've noticed that I am no longer able to sort files by name and get one list in alphabetical order. I now get two, as Mavericks seems to be sorting out files beginning first with uppercase letters and then following with all lowercase letters:
Naturally, this makes it difficult to efficiently scan a directory for a file with a known name, as I'd have to look in two places. Terminal is showing file lists in the same manner. I have made sure that grouping is turned off, so as to not confuse the view while sorting. A related issue that I am dealing with is drop down menus in Apps or on websites where one can typically type the first few letters of an entry and snap right to it. However, typing "tim" will not bring up an entry in a font menu, for instance, if the thing I'm trying to get to is "Times New Roman" with an uppercase T. In this case, I would have to hold the shift key to get a capital letter and then let it go, so that the rest would be lowercase.
I don't remember any Mac operating system before this being so insistent on separating letter cases.

I got an eMac (short for educational Mac) from a friend. Anyway, I wanted to try to get some function out of it seeing as I'm a Linux guy and a windows guy, Apple is something new to play with.My mouse no longer works with the Mac and I don't know why and for the life of me with all my experience with Win. and Linux I can't fix it. I have two that I've tried, both of them were Microsoft mouses that had worked previously but then one day they stopped. I can move around with the keyboard but the mouse is a no go. Does anyone know what I might have done to screw up a perfectly functioning mouse? I know they are connected correctly because when I plug it into the USB port the laser light comes on, problem is the cursor in the screen doesn't move.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to take my eMac back down to OSX 10.2, which is the original OSX that it came with when I bought it. It had tiger on it and I can not get the original install disc to boot when I try and do a restart while pressing "C". On startup, it goes to the screen that says "You computer needs to be restarted, press your on button for several seconds". So, I just used DBAN to completely wipe the HD, hoping that would help it, since maybe it was having trouble since tiger was still on there. The HD is now completely wiped blank and the disc still won't mount. I put in my Leopard disc just to see if that would work and it booted right up and was ready to start installing. Why won't the original disc work? The disc looks brand new, there are no scratches or anything like that on it.

I picked up a Power Mac 5500/225 from work, figuring it would do the trick. I can't get the graphics any lower then 256, the game wants 16! My understanding is that this PowerBook does not accept more than 2gb ram..... The second is the same. Except that I need it to have handles. I could swear that at one time I saw a case by Incase at an Apple store that was just what I wanted but I was stupid and did not buy it and now cannot find it anywhere.
Basically I want as minimal of a case as possible - it need not store anything but the computer itself (such as power cords, etc.). Does anyone have any suggestions?
I got the standard palmrest crack, took it to the apple store and they fixed it no problem. I am running into the issue now where my spacebar only works like 80% of the time. It's kind of a hassle in that it should work 100% of the time. Anyhow, do I have to take it back and let them deal with it or what would you suggest I do?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo recently I found a cheap powermac G5 on ebay and won the deal and all, but when the computer arrived it was horribly dented. It was packed with on piece of under a 1/2" Styrofoam. In the end I got a full refund for the computer and the seller just said that I could keep it if I want it. So I wanted the thing on my desk so I went ahead and bought another case for it. Now here's the question, has anyone done this or knows how to do this? I want to keep all of the internals inside for it not to become a month or so long project in my spare time. I am not sure on a tool that would let me get up into the edges. i know that this may sound very crazy. I am wondering if it is possible to take everything out of a powermac g4 computer and put it into a standard atx case. i am trying to make a huge data server and need a lot of drive bays. i found 2 that i am considering: coolermaster with 11 bays or lian li huge case one other thing- is it possible to use a regular power supply or is that propriatary? I think with all of the drives i am going to put in it, i am going to need a more power.

Putting a new DC In board into my iBook this afternoon, but I'm stuck on opening the bottom case. I've got all screws apart from the Hex screw in the middle of the case, which will not come out at all. Im using a T8 Screwdriver for it, the same one that got all the other hex screws out.

However, I really LOVE the Mac Pro/ PowerMac G5 cases. The silver one with lots and lots of holes in front And then I saw some PowerMac G5's on sale at my local authorized mac reseller, for a very nice price. it got me thinking, I can buy that PM G5, take out the innings, put it to my old desk-top case to use at home (since it's dual 1.8ghz or something like that, which should be very powerful) and use that CASING of PowerMac to build my new computer. So here's my REAL question:
1. would that be a good idea?
2. Would all the components, ATX Motherboard, a nice graphic card that's big, (thinking of GTX 260 or ATI 4870) fit inside? And also, what's the built-in power supply at?

I just got a USB 2.0 emac for nothing that was going to the recycler. The door specs are: 1.25 ghz/256/40GB/Combo "About this mac" shows that it has 512mb RAM installed in one slot, and it is running 10.4.11 Anyways, it seems to be working great so far. I was able to get one stick of 256mb supported RAM from the only other 1.25 ghz machine in the lot - the rest were 700 - 800mhz emacs. Is it OK to mix the 256 with the 512? I've read many places that it is fine, but will it actually boost the speed of apps and things, or should I just leave it as is? I read somewhere that it might slow down the speed between the two RAM capacities. I don't want to spend any money to buy more RAM.
